When you think about it, the best things we’ve gotten since 2018 have been The Longshot and The Network. Not a whole lot of great output from Green Day, but the side projects have gotten us through6 points

Guys? The intro was cool. The sound was crisp and heavy, let that be a taste of what is to come. Let's leave it at that.5 points

It's so extreme that people nowadays don't... like it when others use the n word on a public forum? Bill maher sucks, Green Day is fine and nobody is being cancelled. Idk why you have to be a snowflake and have a meltdown on on a green day fan forum in the year 2023 because people don't like the n word, which has long not been acceptable in the public square.5 points

Welcome to my Panic 100% that was awesome. NFM was essential during lockdown but at the end of the day, it’s an album of pretty ordinary covers4 points
-
Covid and lockdown would maybe have hindered developments. However, if I may add, the amazing cover album 'No Fun Mondays' from Billie Joe. And possibly 'Welcome To My Panic' containing 8 excellent covers of GD classics?4 points
-
Yeah that’s probably what it was. I do think the album is done apart from the packaging and other stuff4 points

I'm seeing this thread for the first time. Damn I'm working too much with my new job lol. I think the sound is cool but it's generic. Anyway I'm happy it's made by Green Day! And of course on GDC a thread can't stay on track. Nothing new here.4 points

And ending up walking alone on a boulevard, in such a bad way you have to check your vital signs.3 points

I'd be thrilled if the new material has the same vibe as the Real Time theme. I know Green Day didn't write it and kept it pretty true to the original, but I like the vibe and the production.3 points

My hopes are hanging on a Pinhead Gunpowder reunion and tour3 points

why does this forum come back to debating if it's okay to say the n-word every few months? No it still isn't for fucks sake shut up already3 points

Love this comment: Haha. Somebody tell this joker that the title came from a James Dean poster that existed long before whatever shitty song they claim to have written.2 points

Tre might come back with a ton of song ideas about snow, skiing, Winter time depression and stuff. This just sounds like one more thing to delay the album into 2026.2 points

I follow Bill Maher on FB. This was his post on it. All of the comments on GD were positive, which was nice to see.2 points

Sarah posted pics on IG that looked like the Cool’s were away skiing but it doesn’t seem to there anymore. I’m hoping that means album is finished.2 points

You’re the one that made it extreme by accusing everyone here of wanting to cancel them for everything they’ve ever said and done. Not one person here had said that. I thought the discussion up to that point had been pretty reasonable.2 points

How do we know for sure it was about that girl? Article or link?2 points

When your famous and in the public eye, a "bad choice" is jumped on and criticized. But Billie Joe publicly conveyed his regrets for this and for the lyrics in the song mentioned before. It shows he cares what he says, not wanted to cause offense, rather than just saying fuck you. We are all human, we all make mistakes, we can't help it. Trying to put things right if we can, if it's possible, shows we care. It's all we can do. When I look back on my life and see the shit I've done and the hurt I've caused and think, how did that happen, if only....... So, what right have I to judge. Only love will put things right, hopefully.2 points

It looks like you're the first one in the thread to mention cancelling. Which I hardly think a bit of grousing on a niche fan forum qualifies as. Or are we not allowed to dislike things anymore?2 points

https://deadline.com/2023/01/green-day-bill-maher-real-time-theme-song-1235229908/amp/ short but a good sign production wise for the new material! edit: longer version on the actual show on HBO Max1 point

And after a previous discussion concerning a rumour that Tre had an injury, the fact is that he has fully recovered, or the rumour was unfounded.1 point

I think the studio pictures from October/November 2022 could be also from the recording sessions of the Bill Maher theme. So maybe they did not record additional stuff for the upcoming album.1 point
-
I just had making fun creating this and I thought it sounded cool enough, so decided to share it but it was pretty clear that people didn't like it😂 I'm still hoping that someone makes a full band cover version of the album that sounds good, or just hear the original recordings from the band itself1 point

I could care less about them using n____r. I wasn't even shocked when I first heard it on american eulogy. Billie was using it in a political approach which was fine with me. It wasn't like a johnny rebel song situation. Its a word and its purpose in history was more then just saying slavery. The problem is the entitlement that people feel when they can just freely say it. Because they want to be part of a certain group of people since for a lot of them its like being popular. Not understanding its a lot more crap then just having a party. The younger generation is really removed from what the purpose of the word was made for and why. I don't agree with my own people saying it, however its something that isn't going anywhere. I don't agree with it being used period, however again its not going anywhere and unfortunately that's the way it is.1 point

I would honestly love their take of Sanford and Son over this Edit: made that comment on after reading til this comment without the other pages ages and oh boy do I stand by it but also Maher sucks and my more of my thoughts are… its sad to see this these is the most exciting news from them especially after the mess of FOAM marketing was and the good chunk of the album was. No wonder no one can be happy with given this vs anything the band has given in the past and bands older than then them and around their era are still giving. It’s hard not to compare tbh.1 point

If I said I loved Bill Maher, would it make you calm down?1 point

....anyway so..... I wouldn't even be able to tell this was Green Day if no one mentioned it. It just sounds like standard show intro to me 🤷♀️1 point

Idk why people are having such extreme reactions (including saying the n word just to get a response from people), to people saying that they don't like Bill Maher. Nobody actually really cares about the problematic stuff the band may have done in the past, especially not enough to cancel them for it. Idc that the band has used the n word in a song, in the context it was used I'm fine with it and I'm not in favour of limiting people in what they can or can't write in their lyrics (although any white guy using the n word in their music in the 2020s will always be at least a bit sus). But I don't think it's hard to just generally avoid using the n word since it obviously makes a lot of people uncomfortable. Like there's nothing wrong with just referring to it as "the n word" but if you actually spell out the word on a public forum, you're just doing that to upset people and get a reaction which is honestly just pathetic1 point

One comment thinks this could be a glimpse into the production style of 19721 point

People can be nice and still have shitty views. That doesn't change much about them.1 point
-
It's so weird though that the band that fought so hard for minorities and for people to dress however they want, be whoever they want, has now designed the sound for the guy who says that people nowadays only come at as LGBTQ+ because it's trendy. Like, fuck this guy. The shit he says is as equally hateful and spiteful as the shit Fox News used to put out back in the day.1 point
-
Yeah that’s true, but since it keeps happening, I’m starting to think he might actually be indifferent to it and i have to say that’s better than being indifferent and pretending to be outraged instead of admitting you just don’t care that much1 point
-
When did Billie Joe talk about that lyric where he used the N word? I don't remember him ever talking about that.1 point

I remember when Bill Maher was considered extremist left wing. Now he's alt right? Man do things change.1 point

Nice! God those P90s sound as good as ever 🤤1 point

I don't think so, that's really not that typical for a rock record and I'd like to think the use of Rob and CLA is a conscious effort to go back to a production team that works for them and not experiment with that side of things too much. I still think the album is done and they're working on finishing touches, tracklistings cover art etc. and then we'll get a single or at the very least an official announcement and title.1 point

Have these versions ever leaked in full? Love the orchestra in the mix, and Letterbomb which is in a totally different key (B instead of E). I would love to get my hands on full versions of these!1 point
