  1. maybe it will have as many songs as nimrod or 21cb i wouldnt mind something "longer" than foam 😅 and i hope they play the new songs live ... after 2009 (~14 years!) revrad is the only new lp by gd they somehow try to play live 🥺

  2. Anybody else on an Elvis Costello kick because of Alison? Anyway, here's the whole Decades of Rock video. Billie at the 37 minute mark.

  3. It's not going to be a double album.

  4. Billie just says things sometimes. We all know this.

  5. There were so many WTF-moments during the FOAM promotion. It's like they tried to fully replace their previous fan base with totally different listeners from one day to another 😅

  6. Love this show. As well as singing Alison, liked Billie Joe singing Costello's No Action and another version of Basket Case.

  7. Just realized this thread is almost at 300 pages. I wonder how many more hundreds there will be until we actually get official news from them regarding this album 😄

  8. It wouldn't make sense to just put all the FOAM songs in MM2020 Part 2. For one thing, there are songs in there that just sound nothing like The Network and are much more Green Day sounding. Like does it really make sense for Sugar Youth or Graffitia to be on a Network album? And secondly, there's already too much crap in MM2020Pt2. Ik a lot of people love it but I just can't get into that album at all and putting more on that album, a lot of which would be filler wouldn't do the album any favours. Even if you do really like that Network album, you've got to admit there is already a fair bit of filler in there, right? FOAMF just needed more time in the oven. More time for the solid tracks to bake properly and more time for the band to realize IWATT and Oh Yeah are shit and shouldn't be on the album unless they are changed drastically

  9. My 4 year old son is discovering how great American Idiot, which is fantastic. He is, however, trying to figure out all the words. Cussing is fine because my ex wife cusses like a sailor, but he's asking me what a fack-bag is, haha. That's what he thinks Billie is saying in American Idiot and Holiday. 🤦 It is really interesting to see him listening to the story and piecing it together. He made up with own version of Boulevard of Broken Dreams. "I am all alone in this world. No one is here with me" intermixed with Twinkle Little Star. 😄

  10. That's the one I have no idea who approved of this but it caused a shitstorm on the Internet and damaged the band's reputation (imo) Also they said in multiple interviews before foam released that foam was going to give everyone a "history of rock and roll lesson" and I've never cringed soo hard in my life 😨

  11. Jason thinks it might not be too long after the Nimrod release, or so he hopes. https://forum.greenday.fm/t/album-14-news-rumours-speculation/28/82

  12. That would be a great excuse for them to use. “If people thought FOAM sounded off it’s because it wasn’t us, it was The Network!”

  13. Wait....did the Network impersonate Green Day for FOAM? Was it all a hoax and...oh no. If that is the case, then we haven't had a new record since 2016!

  14. Hindsight, that maybe something that has happened, should not have happened. And of course there's nothing we can do about it. In discussing what has gone before, including what may influence the next GD album, there has been many comments on FOAM. To many it has been disappointing, even to the point of being an un-Green Day album, possibly damaging their reputation? And also the concern in some quarters what influence FOAM will have on the next album? Perhaps, in hindsight, should FOAM never have been released at all in Feb' 2020? It's been said before, that there was some leftover songs from FOAM that ended up on 'Money Money 2020 Part2, We Told Ya So!' So, maybe should those ten tracks from FOAM have be added to Money Money Part 2 in Dec' 2020 to total 35 tracks, making it a double album? Or is that an insult to Money Money PArt 2? That would have obviously meant we would be waiting for studio album number 13, as follow up to Rev Rad from Oct' 2016. Over 6 years ago? Would that be palatable, being a long wait, but preferable? Or releasing FOAM meant we at least had something to talk about? Just a thought.

  15. I think it was just a persona he put on for that era, since they also did the Network album at the same time.

  16. Tell me about it, very odd!! “I hate long songs!” That’s not the real Billie!!!

  17. Rina Sawayama and Green Day collab when (she's collaborated w a few artists, most noteworthy Elton John. 100% recommend her stuff, esp her new album)

  20. It doesn’t make sense because your misreading what I said. Billie made mention of the EP of leftover songs which was obviously scrapped. Walker said he was heading to the studio soon to work on the new GD album which obviously didn’t happen and they did move on to bring back Cavallo to work on the new album. I never said I thought they were recording old foam songs in the studio and don’t know how saying they “moved on from those songs” would lead you to think that.

  22. I'm not expecting any trap beats. But I don't see a problem with features if they're good artists who work well with Green Day

  23. God, just please no songs featuring other artists, trap beats or a self titled album name trend and I'll be the happiest Green Day fan 🙏

  24. That theory doesn't really hold up. They had to have immediately known (in early 2020) that the reaction to FOAM wasn't good, so why would they think resurfacing leftover songs from that album, recorded nearly 3 years (FOAM was done for a while) before the end of 2021 (when the 1972 stuff started), would be something they should do? In addition, the teased 1972 stuff has been all-new material. That theory doesn't make any sense.

  25. Bang Bang is one of their worst songs (It's funny whenever people speak of RevRad I often see comments like "Album is OK but Bang Bang is one of the best singles of all time, whereas I'm the opposite. I love that album but always skip that song OH BY THE WAY when it first came out I really liked it...... ) Thanks for listening

  26. Sorry but did you read his original post? He was quoting what he genuinely thought was a line in the song and saying wtf/questioning it. He was calling it out. Quoting a line with the word Jew in it, in order to question whether it's being used offensively, isn't antisemitism. Green Day have quite a few lyrics that could be interpreted as being offensive if taken out of context or being heard by someone who doesn't speak English as a first language for example (Holiday and American Eulogy come to mind) so it's not unreasonable to not immediately assume that wasn't the lyric. It's good that you've pointed out if that was the lyric it would be an antisemitic one. But now he knows that isn't the line so there's no need to keep discussing it.

  28. The song, Pollyanna's title reminded me of a movie that has a fictional character who used to be one of my role models. I really should watch the entire movie again but may end up crying at the end of it like I did years ago. I really enjoyed the prism scene and the glad game. I did not understand the importance of the glad game but it's all about perception changing, just as Green Day's song is about perception changing. When Holy Toledo came out I was appalled at first but then I noticed something... perhaps they aren't wanting to get into trouble but wanting to sing about the problem so that others can see where the trouble starts so that they can avoid repeating it. I should really go back through the lyrics and think about them differently. Macy's Day Parade however seems to be an I'm sick of waiting on you therefore I'm going to lose patience and break up with you song.... which proves that they don't love the subject of the song... because.... well... Love is patient. A person who really loves themself ... well it can be argued they'd be more patient than breaking their engagement with themself... yet at the same time I see why they did it... they wouldn't want to be a Narcissist. As to Billie being a perfectionist... he will not ever be truly happy as long as he seeks perfection over love... so I hope he isn't doing that. Love in an art form does not judge the art but accepts the art and the raw emotion for which it stands. Perhaps a theme isn't what is needed for 1972 yet the title of it already indicates a themed album, but then.... perhaps the theme is being written out of something other than writer's block.
