  3. https://forum.greenday.fm/t/album-14-news-rumours-speculation/28/3 So according to Jason here, they apparently had Butch Walker originally slated to produce this, but something happened along the way and they replaced him with Rob Cavallo

  4. absolutely NO cringe marketing this time that foam billboard still pisses me off to this day

  5. That theory doesn't really hold up. They had to have immediately known (in early 2020) that the reaction to FOAM wasn't good, so why would they think resurfacing leftover songs from that album, recorded nearly 3 years (FOAM was done for a while) before the end of 2021 (when the 1972 stuff started), would be something they should do? In addition, the teased 1972 stuff has been all-new material. That theory doesn't make any sense.

  6. Sorry but did you read his original post? He was quoting what he genuinely thought was a line in the song and saying wtf/questioning it. He was calling it out. Quoting a line with the word Jew in it, in order to question whether it's being used offensively, isn't antisemitism. Green Day have quite a few lyrics that could be interpreted as being offensive if taken out of context or being heard by someone who doesn't speak English as a first language for example (Holiday and American Eulogy come to mind) so it's not unreasonable to not immediately assume that wasn't the lyric. It's good that you've pointed out if that was the lyric it would be an antisemitic one. But now he knows that isn't the line so there's no need to keep discussing it.

  7. Jason is a good source and his recent info is reliable but this particular comment is pure speculation from a month ago and not fact

  8. I’ll wait for the box set with Cigarettes and Valentines, Omega 3000, Songs For Assholes and 1972.

  9. It doesn’t make sense because your misreading what I said. Billie made mention of the EP of leftover songs which was obviously scrapped. Walker said he was heading to the studio soon to work on the new GD album which obviously didn’t happen and they did move on to bring back Cavallo to work on the new album. I never said I thought they were recording old foam songs in the studio and don’t know how saying they “moved on from those songs” would lead you to think that.

  10. I think that was a joke based on the PG lyric (West Side Highway) that they both sing. In reality, Aaron (Cometbus) Elliott, the songwriter is the one that’s Jewish.

  11. It’s a gorgeous, tender cover of an already great song. Not sure if it’s just me but I get RHCP vibes from it. Could it have been a hit if they released it? Maybe. But what a beautiful version, glad we finally have it

  12. Well, he said himself "If I had to guess" i would take it with a very fine grain of salt In saying that Jason is a good source

  14. Back to page 15, some guys had their delivery date delayed, but manually changed the shipping details, or clicked update and it changed back to Jan 27. Here in UK mine is still saying Jan 27. Good luck.

  17. I think the Trilogy was technically self titled. I read that the original plan was to call them Green Day I, II, and III. Then 80 suggested, “You know what would be funny? If you called them Uno, Dos, and Tré!” Are you talking about this one? https://www.youredm.com/2020/02/09/green-day-no-trap-beats-billboard/

  18. God, just please no songs featuring other artists, trap beats or a self titled album name trend and I'll be the happiest Green Day fan 🙏

  21. Thanks. I am just wondering if there might be an overlap and some confusion between the next Green Day record and Money Money Part 2 here. We know for certain that the Network’s record contain a bunch of leftovers from FOAM, plus more stuff they recorded afterwards. Could be that Walker worked on those songs, which they then decided to release as the Network, instead as a post-FOAM EP. And that what they are doing now with Cavallo is completely different stuff. Just found another couple of interviews where he mentions that, and they are all from right after FOAM and before the Network record. Haha are you keylogging/reading my mind or what? 😂

  22. I’m wondering if that was for The Network record and that was all they intended or if he meant the next Green Day album. I tend to think it was The Network since that’s what came out next and we know it had FOAM outtakes.

  23. 1-2 weeks after nimrod? Idk. But March could be realistic (maybe with tour announcement) and release in June/July with a US tour til „when we were young“ and a tour november-december here in EU/UK. as far as I remeber there were rumours about touring in EU in october/november or something last year. Maybe we got the wrong year 😂

  24. Bang Bang is one of their worst songs (It's funny whenever people speak of RevRad I often see comments like "Album is OK but Bang Bang is one of the best singles of all time, whereas I'm the opposite. I love that album but always skip that song OH BY THE WAY when it first came out I really liked it...... ) Thanks for listening

  25. I mentioned this a few weeks ago. He was referring to the end of the summer and having to wait a full year for warm weather. he wasn’t teasing shows.

  27. New UltraQ album announced today and the album art was designed by Dall-E AI. What if Billie gets inspired by this idea? I know we’ve seen AI fanart covers for the new album but please Green Day, don’t do that for real 😳

  32. Me and my gf have been buying Father of all Dark Roast to each other for christmas the last years, it's really good! We've also been stacking up 3 coffe mugs which is really nice. We also bought a few pairs of ceramic coaster on request to the shop, it was put out in the store for us and after ordering they were removed again. Really good experience shopping from the Oakland Coffee store!

  34. I don't see EJN as being similar to Holiday. The only thing I can think of as a notable similarity is having a bass/drum interlude in the middle of the track but that to me isn't enough to make that conclusion. 21 Guns is similar to BOBD but that alone isn't really enough to suggest 21CB is just a recycled album that takes from older albums. There are a ton of tracks on there that are very unique, different from everything that came before. Before the Lobotomy, Christian's Inferno, Peacemaker, the Viva la Glorias. Those recycled melodies aren't really a big deal imo because otherwise the tracks are completely different from each other. Static Age uses the melody of Church on Sunday but if you disregard that fact, are these 2 songs similar in any other notable way? American Eulogy uses melody of Deadbeat Holiday but again, these are completely different songs in basically every other way, and I can't think of any other recycled melodies in the album 21CB definitely takes elements from AI, but that to me doesn't suggest laziness, lack of inspiration or ideas. I guess it just comes down to personal opinion and preferences. Do you think these elements came from being out of ideas, or do you think it's just a logical evolution of what they were doing on AI, call backs to some of their older songs (In an album that calls back to Song of the Century and the instrumental intro to the title track in American Eulogy and See the Light, it also doesn't really seem unreasonable for someone to believe those "recycled melodies" were also intentional). I mean, Billie has compared LNOE to some of the songs from their early EPs but despite the similarities, I think of LNOE as a completely different beast. I personally think every song on 21CB is at the very least a strong 8/10, that's definitely not unique to 21CB but considering it's an 18 track album, I think that makes for a very good album. This is also going to come down to personal opinion. Are those completely original tracks good enough to compare to the fresh, original ideas of AI or older albums? I think so

  35. I don’t think Tre is all that funny anymore. Back in the day when he was just a young punk, I think his wild behavior and dirty jokes and weird faces were funny because it fit that character. He’s now an old man, a DAD, and it seems like his jokes are much more forced now. i could go without ever seeing him make a goofy side eye look again during an interview after making some sexual joke.
