I honestly don't think they'd be teasing for over a year for a documentary. I mean I could be wrong but I don't think they've spent this long teasing something before and I find it hard to believe it's a documentary that has been the result of this amount of teasers. And the 1972 teasers have been accompanied with clips of new music we've not heard before. Like, I just don't understand why they would do that for a documentary, unless the documentary is like directly related to the new album I don't actually really mind either way. I've said this many times, they can take as long as they want to release music7 points

Weezer just dropped their 4th album of the year. Metallica gave us a single out of nowhere with an album announcement. Sum 41 is giving us news on their dual album Hell x Heaven every months. Green Day really were the worst in 2022 to inform us.3 points
-
The way I see it, they wouldn't have had the huge 1972 graphic in the first teaser if the title wasn't finalized. Like, why go through all that trouble instead of just a simple studio video, like "Hey we're making a new album". and leave it at that?3 points

BJ sure likes being in the UK a lot these days. Maybe he’s gonna act on his pledge to relocate here.2 points

I actually commented on the photo and Steve replied that Billie is only there for a private trip, no photo shoots going on2 points

Thousands of records were released in 2022, thousands were announced, and not a single one of them was from Green Day. Bad Green Day, bad bad Green Day, how dare you.2 points

I predict by years end in 2023 we will have a new Green Day album, a new BJA solo album, a new side project and a new collab with some edgy little unknown artist because Mike and Tre don’t work too hard anymore and Billie can’t sit still2 points

Listening to Alkaline Trio tonight and just made a Green Day connection. "This Could Be Love" mentions the Berkley Marina, the same one that Billie Joe mentions in "the ballad of wilhelm fink". There it is. Definitive proof that Matt Skiba is Mongo Fink, and Billie Joe is his older brother, Wilhelm.2 points

Well in the last couple of years you mentioned they did bother to release Money Money 2020 part2, Welcome To My Panic, and BBC Sessions. I wouldn't call that random crap. It's still a lot of fun being a Green Day fan.2 points

No Fun Mondays and the Longshot were great. I wish Green Day was more like that. Seems like these last couple of years Green Day just puts out random crap thrown at the wall to see what sticks when they even bother to do anything at all. It seems so unorganized with a lack of passion. Usually at the darkest they do something amazing but it seems this is the longest tease with nothing to show for it. It used to be a lot more fun being a Green Day fan.2 points

Post your predictions for the gd world in 2023. Here are mine: - the album comes out later in the year and is seen as mostly decent - the festival biggest hits run continues with even bigger festivals - Mike’s wife somehow manages to go even more fash - the new album contains at least a couple vague call to action songs but they’re well received because we get nostalgic for revrad - Billie keeps talking about leaving the USA but visibly does nothing to do so1 point

And Billie and 80 are probably there to spend Christmas with them!!!1 point

Jillie Bow Legweak is using a full cockney accent in conjunction with the falsetto. Each song will feature a sample from the worst humans ever. Gary Glitter again. Phil Spector And Bill Cosby will freestyle on Jesus of Suburbia Part 2: American Eulogy. Kanye West will battle rap Tre Cool on a song featuring Fall Out Boy and Weezer. There's also a song that is heavily controversial, even compared to what I have already described. Billie transforms into a sort of GG Alin type during the promotion, eating poop and assaulting people. I don't know if it will sell, but attention is attention, as Billie beats up band member after band member #January 1st, 2023.1 point

Steve Fothergill who is an official glastonbury photographer comments under this photo that he met BJ yesterday in London and took a photo (although this photo is not his) https://www.instagram.com/p/CmcD_0MOXtO/?igshid=NDk5N2NlZjQ=1 point

Green Day are just giving those guys a chance to shine before they blind the world with poison from 1972. I'm on a Weezer bender lately.1 point

Well, I decided to take a punt on it coz anything live from GD I've just got to have. Six CD's with 6 good quality live broadcasts. The only problem is you don't know where, and you don't know when these broadcasts are from. You can to a certain extent get an idea but that's all. The track listing per disc above from the supplier is completely different to the track listing per disc on the cover of the album. And neither listings fit any of the songs and number of tracks per disc. I know its bootleg, but man what a fuck up. Still its GD live, maybe one day I'll find out somehow. But Hey, catching up, got another CD of GD live, Transmission Impossible, 3 CD's released 2019, Aragon Ballroom, Chicago, Nov 18, 1994; Nice Guys Finish Last, House of Blues, Myrtle Beach, SC, May 6, 1998; and Reading Festival, August 24, 2001. I'm in heaven.1 point

Back in school it never made much sense. Billie could pay but can't pay attention. This is the hardest lesson of his life. He doesn't want to be an imbecile, but Jesus made him that way.1 point

That would be 1,900.72 in numerals. Not 1,972 (one thousand nine hundred seventy two). The word “And” creates a decimal point in a number.1 point

1972 being the album title has always been an assumption. It obviously has to do with the album, but it might just be a code name for it, or perhaps it was the original title that they've since changed, but kept on using the hashtag because it got people excited.1 point
-
A number of folks have said this already. I'm starting to come around on the idea that 1972 may have been a thing at one point, but it's most likely not going to be an album. A documentary on the three of them in their early lives seems reasonable for something with that title. And at this point, I wouldn't even be annoyed if a record - whatever it ends up being called - doesn't release until the end of next year. God, antidepressants are amazing.1 point

It's a shame 1972 is going to keep getting pushed back with all these anniversaries coming up.1 point
-
I hope we get a Dookie 30th anniversary edition. The anniversary is only a year and 2 months away!!!! And then that September marks American Idiot's 20th!!! Hopefully we'll get to hear the Cigarettes and Valentines sessions as well!!! And with 1972 coming out some time in 2023, this may be shaping up to be the biggest 2 years in Green Day's history!!!!1 point

It makes sense that they wouldn’t post any teasers until after the Nimrod 25th Anniversary is over. Any 1972 news would overshadow the excitement for Nimrod and I think that’s something they really want people to be excited for. Green Day finally seems to be “looking back” for the first time and I’m here for it 👍1 point

Here's a few possibilities about what may have happened with the 1972 title. -1972 is still the name of the album -1972 was the name of the 6 song EP we originally speculated about. They decided to record a full album and the name changed. -1972 is the name of a documentary of the making of the ???? album, and featuring rare never before seen clips from before they were famous.1 point

One of these days Gdfan is gonna post something 'oh man I feel it in my bones, an announcement is coming soon!' and we'll all go 'haha yeah right' and then 5 hours later Green Day will drop a trailer for 1972 or a single or both and then we'll all look like asses.1 point

Currently in Amsterdam. Just tried some magic truffles. And i remembered Junkies on a high. Now I actually think this is the way this album is meant to be listened to. What a trip. Masterpiece.1 point

I hope 1972 doesn't feel the need to end the album on a ballad. If it works it works but to many times it just feels like they do it because that's what your supposed to do at the end of an slbum Looking at you ordinary world1 point

@GDFan2019 thank you for keeping the positivity going with your optimism 👏1 point

This is how I feel about the album! It's just a fun rock n roll album and they play around with some stuff they haven't done before. I like it! It's not trying to be this epic thing like American Idiot. And it sounds like they had fun with it.1 point

It makes sense!! Because the way Billie sings falsetto in the title track almost makes it sound like a Fall Out Boy song and I Was a Teenage Teenager, like I said, sounds like a Weezer song!!!0 points
