I truly feel the same about live albums, they don’t do much for me. I collect them cause I’m a collector but don’t find myself listening to them often. I’m mostly excited about Nimrod cause aside from being my favorite album, we get a lot of rareties and cool packaging.3 points

Tré turns 50 on Friday. I have a strong feeling we’ll be getting some 1972 news, or at least another teaser, now that all 3 of them are 50!!!1 point

Can I see your list first so I can do a comparison 😜 I've come to the conclusion that any ranking would have to be split into two. The 90's included Warning, and AI onwards? Anyways I've been busy filling some gaps in my CD collection of old bootlegs & radio broadcasts, highlighted on here. On their way from Japan & Australia.1 point

I really don't like live albums that much. Sure, there's some gems, but this "Nice Guys Finish Last" just meh. A fine performance and the sound is good, but it sounds almost exactly like the studio version. There's just not a lot to say about it. It exists. Has anyone else changed their mind about purchasing a physical version of this? I just want to hear the unreleased stuff and that's what's most important to me.1 point

Panicland is silent in the last 2 years. Really strange. They have either broken up or they are on to something...1 point

Graffitia was a good album closer on FOAM! I love how it fades out, "Another one down at the mining town, town, town! Are we the last forgotten! Calling the shots from the Capital-tal-tal! Are we the last forgotten...."1 point

JUDGING YOU BY YOUR FAVORITE GD ALBUM: Dookie - Probably you're a diehard punk or a teenager. If you're a teen, there's 85% of chance you're finding out you're bisexual or anything in the LGBT+ spectrum after reading Coming Clean lyrics. And you probably complain about GD after Warning. American Idiot - you have a such fancy taste of music and you surely appreciate opera punk. Or maybe you're just a poser who knows only the 2 or 3 most famous songs from this album and you got a T-shirt with its cover in a random store near your home. Inmsoniac - you're a metalhead getting into punk and you appreciate the raspy voice, torn riffs and a little better worked out lyrics. You mosh a lot and you absolutely have trouble trying to sleep (myself described here) Father of All...: Surely you are Jared Leto's Joker and you have an absolutely chaotic energy. Seek therapy ASAP. Continue with this thread, guys!1 point

In the end the real 1972 is the friends we made along the way 😁 I don’t know about anyone else but I’m just having a good time chatting with y’all.1 point

It's not easy for band's these days post COVID, see @pacejunkie punk excellent comments in Nimrod topic. There's so many issues in the world that are affecting album releases not least cost. I'm sorry you think that way. Every minute I spend on here is precious, never a waste of time, I've learnt so much more about GD and treasure being part of this awesome GD community. There are things going on behind the scenes we know nothing about. I'm sure when new album is released it will worth the wait. I've had to wait for album releases over the last 30+ years, but never regretted it. Love yer.1 point

Guys , if you had sex with your partner last year around this time ,you could've had a child by now. Yeah that's how long we've waited but still no proper announcements1 point

You’ve successfully pointed out how hard it is to be a working musician these days. If touring can’t happen, it’s either release your music streaming for no real money or brand your image and sell as much merch as you can. Physical sales, the only real way for an artist to earn money from the music itself, are getting harder to accomplish with supply shortages and long waits. Even Green Day isn’t immune to this. They may have a back catalog with more in the bank and selling power, but I would bet more of their reserves would be drained every year if they put out more new music. Recording is expensive, and no one pays you while you do it, but you still have to pay your crew. Branding, merch, coffee business and hella mega tours are what keep the lights on. Those small shows everyone wants? Those cost them money too.1 point

At the start of 2020 just as COVID was about to hit, that year realized 2 singles, 3 EPs total of 11 songs. In between 3 albums released, FOAM, No Fun Mondays, The Network's second album. We were spoiled rotten. Yes, 2021 was a tad quieter, 4 singles, but also amazing Welcome to My Panic, with the end of the year the BBC sessions. 2022 has been very quiet. It's post COVID, but it's not gone away, I know friends are still suffering from long COVID after 2 years, and a couple have sadly died. Demand is rocketing, supply cannot cope, millions are still off work. And now a war in Europe, again. Like many industries there's material shortage, not enough working plants to meet the overwhelming demand, and not enough qualified staff. And what is one of those industries reeling from this? Vinyl. Latest indications is that vinyl is facing meltdown, with US hardest hit. Lead times are extending. What was previously weeks to issue a vinyl release it's now months. And what about those awesome covers for our vinyl records? There's a world shortage of ready supply of cardboard. I reckon GD have struggled to get Nimrod 25th out for Jan'23 nice one guys. CD production is a highly sophisticated manufacturing process and is also struggling. I'm sure GD are working very hard to get there music out there. But maybe there's things happening out there that we may never know. I respect all the views on here both points of view have real merit. We may try to understand, but hey we love GD so much and they are so fuckin good, we crave new stuff so much. Man I've been living with this for 30 years. Awesome. I have this feeling that 2023 will be something special for every GD fan.1 point

I hope it sounds exactly like foam. Like some of the same songs even. Then pizzagate and pool party from The Network. And the same cover, but uglier.1 point

The main problem with their marketing strategy, is that seems there isn't any strategy at all. Many fanpages do a way better work promoting them then the band crew behind their social media I am a person who complais and who compares what other bands do with what GD does, and I only do it because I care about this band and because I know things could be way better for fans, casual and hardcore fans, and for their money making strategy and marketing. It's a win-win, if they put a little more effort1 point

Knowing the risk of sounding extremely annoying and obnoxious, I have to say the whining in this forum is reaching unknown levels to humanity. Every thread is filled with self-entitled posts that assume the 50 people constantly writing in here are the only target audience of any promotional campaign, product release and content from the band. I am the first to recognize some of the disastrous marketing choices that Crush made in the FOAM era, but geez we are getting never before heard demos and pro live recordings of one of their best records. If you don’t care just move along. And ffs, lack of new music? We got two side projects releasing two full records in a three year hiatus including a fucking pandemic. Plus all the shitty b-side singles and covers. We got a world tour. I wonder what you would have done in the 4 year hiatus between Warning and AI. They have teased new music a year ago, clearly something changed in the plan, we have to wait a bit longer. Just fucking wait. What we’ll get could be good or bad, but the wait is not impacting your music experience in any way. This is not what is gonna make the record a success or not if this is what you are worried about, our satisfaction with their promotional strategies is not what makes them good or bad, we represent 0.0001% of their fanbase. I get it, being teased and then dealing with silence is hard, but they are not breaking up, they are not disappearing, they are clearly just waiting for the right window to start the real promotion, everyone in here is aware of this, just stop whining and wait a few more months or whatever is needed. Even the fucking GD subreddit is more enjoyable than this. Sorry I am gonna disappear again.1 point

Safe to say that the marketing strategy just continues down the road for each passing year. As I said before FOAM, the marketing strategy is shit. There is no other way of saying it. A live version of songs we've heard so many times already, there is nothing exciting about this at all, we just get dissapointed every time there seems to be someting exciting about to happen. Same goes to teasing new music and how they promote it. Sure, it is fun getting unreleased music from the old times, but the strategy just seems so odd, there is no continuity in what they're doing and promoting. The 1972 teasers that randomly appear and goes silent for another 6 months seems so strange. Releasing live music of songs there are already 100+ versions of isn't exciting, releasing live music from newer tours of songs and shows we haven't heard before or we haven't had so much of must be a better way to promote and make their music known to fans (or upcoming fans as well) i.e. Give me a full show video from the RR, 99R or 21cb tour with songs that's not Basket Case, She, American Idiot or KYE and that would be so much more exciting than a live version of those that we've already seen so many times. With that being said, Green Day do whatever the fuck they wanna do, and that is alright. That is what I like so much about them. The music (even though we've heard a thousand times) is awesome, but please, be a bit more creative.1 point

For the first time in like 5 years Green Day isn't #1 in my Wrapped Spotify. In 2022 Green Day is listed #2 in my top 5. Am I becoming less interested in them? Yes. The Interrupters took their place at #1. Then Green Day And Sum 41 And two french canadian bands.1 point
