  1. And the album name has "72" in it 😂

  2. Metallica just announced a new album, a new tour and released the first single... Out of nowhere!!! The new tour will have two shows in each city, with two different sets every night... Imagine our beloved Green Day doing the same... And oldschool night and an America Idiot onwards night... I just love Metallica way of doing things

  3. I don’t think those few throwaway singles will be any indication of what the next album will sound like. Remember when Back in the USA came out and we thought it was a hint of their next thing? Then we got FOAM

  4. I wonder when they’re going to officially release that Beach Boys I Get Around cover that Billie accidentally leaked

  5. Also that would be nearly 2 years after the first teaser!!!

  6. But considering that 1972 was being mixed last Spring we’re already nearly at that 12 month period if the album comes out by May. That’s why I say Oct/Nov would be ridiculous

  7. Lol how long does this band usually sit on a finished album before releasing it? I understand not wanting to announce it or release it during tour but that's been over for months now and still not a word.

  8. We know they had it first but they’re gonna look really unoriginal by the time it comes out. The tour idea is also amazing. I would absolutely go to multiple nights if they promised different sets. Speaking of bands that do things better, Elvis Costello (who is also doing ten completely different setlists over ten nights in NYC) just surprise dropped a bonus album of the rehearsals for the new tour. It’s live in studio versions of songs from the new album plus a bunch of cool covers (Stones, Beatles) they do for fun while rehearsing. I would love it if Green Day would do that, just record the stuff they play when they rehearse.

  9. That's what happen when you take too long to announce something. 72 is now taken by TWO bands. Teasers over announcement SUCK. They love each other so much that James Hetfield don't even knows the lyrics from American Idiot

  10. Listening to Here Comes the Shock and Pollyanna a bit today, and I hope the new albums carries that energy but with an overall vibe/lyrical element of the latter. I just want a fun, upbeat record with a relatively positive message rather than the unbridled "fuck it" of HCTS. 😅 I really dig that song now, but after FOAM and the last few years, I think that energy would be better spent towards a record that's channelling that energy while having an optimistic outlook. Fuck everything, for sure, but... in a nice way.

  13. Metallica just surprise dropped a song and announced their upcoming 11th studio album and it's callled..... 72 SEASONS. 1972. 72 Seasons. It's all connected, man!!!!!! I think both bands could use some new blood (PHGP references welcome?) so the frontmen will be exchanging band members to see what happens. But seriously though, new Metallica song is pretty strong and it's from 72 Seasons. 1972 just keeps sounding better and better. How does one visit the year 1972? OH and the release date could effect a Green Day release, right? Green Day and Metallica are buddies and are both pretty big deals. This really might effect 1972. Metallica and Green Day on tour together? Tickets 80 Billion dollars for nosebleed? Let's do it!

  14. M72 World Tour (No Repeat Weekend) What an amazing idea. Montreal here I comes. Funny how it's another album named 72.

  15. That was what they claimed but apart from a couple of subpar single drops we really haven’t seen evidence of a change

  16. 😄 This really is an echo chamber

  17. Well, to be nominated for a Grammy, at least 75% of the album must have been recorded within 5 years before the release. So at least we can say that the album will be released before October 2026 😌

  18. I think at this point in their career, it'd be nice to have something celebratory and optimistic. Maybe the fact they're referencing that year means they're reflecting more. A bit of a more chill, retrospective tone

  19. How about Holy Toledo? In the teasers, they seem to be channeling American Idiot quite a bit

  20. Even when albums are done earlier, im noticing a lot of bands do 2-3 singles before the album to generate hype, each 2ish months apart from one another/

  22. Someone’s mad that they’re incapable of writing their own successful album. This is a safe space. How’s everything at home?

  23. This. Releases take time but they started this in October 2021 and was being mixed in the Spring they’re not going to wait a full two years to release it. It will be out before a summer tour. Hella Mega is over. This will be an album they’ll actually tour on.

  24. Dillie Joey Dickweak just can't come up with a decent song, that's the reason why we aren't getting any testers lately

  25. Hoping for something soon! I could wait until March. I can wait for the new era of Green Day. I have a feeling it will be really great. They starting teasing and leading to nothing too soon. I wish there had been more of a plan rather than randomness and then nothing. I’m sure the new album will be great. I want to love the new album.

  26. I think March for a single, May for the album

  27. March is too soon. I think sep/oct 2023 is reasonable.

  28. The albums probably completed by now, but they're too afraid to show any teasers because it sucks.

  29. The ideal setlist is a setlist where they play the current setlist but instead the encore is the network

  30. As much as I love to speculate and say “any day now”, I actually think we won’t get anything until after the Nimrod re-release, but maybe at least another teaser after the new year?

  31. Not to shit in anybody’s shoes and piss in their fireplace on Christmas morning but
.. Punk band Dead Cross had their album recorded , mastered and all of that and it still took nearly 12 months after that before it was released .
