I'm so sorry about your grandpa I agree with what others have said – maybe you just weren't ready to meet Billie this time. The band are so much more accessible than they used to be so I'm sure you'll get another chance. You'll be ready next time! There is something positive to take away from it too – you can be glad that you weren't disrespectful at all. I totally get what you mean about overthinking every interaction though. If it helps, I missed out on meeting Billie for the same reason – I saw him from across the road in Oakland and he even smiled at me when he saw me looking, but I just couldn't bring myself to approach him because I was worried I'd seem creepy, or like I was looking for him when it was genuinely random. I'm sure we'll both get another chance though! And our grandpas will be smiling and cheering us on when we do. Big hugs!7 points

Not a review exactly but my thoughts in the doobley-doo: TL:DR, Short set, but goddamn they know what they’re doing. Just go see them if you can, it’s great every time no matter what.6 points

Don’t be too hard on yourself. Grief can mess you up for a long time and in many unexpected ways. Something like seeing Billie in the airport is so unexpected nobody can predict how they will react. Be glad you didn’t throw yourself at him and now regret it.6 points

So I'm watching the Sky sports coverage of the GP and the reporter just bumped into Tre on the grid and had a little chat with him (I screamed when I heard the guy say Tre Cool and then saw him come on screen, my bf came running into the room 😂). Tre didn't say much, just that he was supporting Aston Martin and mentioned that lap that Zak Brown drove him and how different it is than it looks on TV. But was fun to see him all the less!5 points

Same to you! And ditto that with @pacejunkie punk! Honestly one of the best parts of going to shows is meeting other fans, thanks for being awesome y'all4 points

It looked just brown to me in person on the jumbo screen. I think it’s the light in the photos making it looked like a mix of grey/blonde/brown. But he’s definitely using a lighter color dye these days and I think it’s a kind that washes out because often fan encounters a day later and he’s grey again.4 points

Idk where you got your information. I know him personally and he told me his solo thing will be called „dirntl“ and promoshoot took place at the Münchener Oktoberfest with mike in a „dirndl“ thats why he thought it‘s a good idea to call it „dirntl“3 points

So sorry about your loss, take the time to heal and process everything. Let yourself feel all emotions and surround yourself with people who love you and support you. Grief is a hard thing to go through but it does get better with time, although it might feel like an endless tunnel right now. I get your reaction seeing Billie Joe, I probably would react the same way if I just saw him randomly and probably wouldn't know what to do either. As someone who also had to deal with this sort of inner dialogue (they will think I am weird, they'll hate me), let me tell you that the sole fact that you are aware enough of other people's possible boundaries and that you don't want to come across as rude or disrespectful is telling of your character. I am sure you are far from being an unpleasant person to be around, and I am sure you are not the sort of fan that Billie, Mike or Tre would dislike. Don't beat yourself too much over the fact that you didn't take the chance to approach him, it was a super unexpected thing for you so I get that you wouldn't know how to react and just freeze. Also, who knows what could have happened? Maybe this time just wasn't the time, but I sure hope you'll get this opportunity again.3 points

Thank you so much for the kind words💚💚 Thank you I appreciate that💚💚 that is a good way to think of it. Maybe this time was just a test and the next time I run into him it will be my chance to go up and say hi. Thank you3 points

Haha yes, the other commentator just brought that up again when they were talking about Hamilton's brake change (cuz that's when Tre appeared), and praised his GD knowledge 😂2 points

lol thank you! Careful, my ego doesn’t need to hear you say that, but will gladly take the compliment2 points

Oh, I am so sorry for the loss of your Grandpa...grief isn't easy and it is very personal. Everyone reacts and grieves differently. I feel for you as I lost my father last September and it is still hard at times, but just know it gets easier with time. Please don't beat yourself up over not approaching Billie...perhaps it simply wasn't meant to be at this time. Be kind to yourself...give yourself the space and time to grieve. Hugs.2 points

Guys... I'm so mad at myself I'm kicking myself in the leg right now. Hope its ok i'm posting this here. Just want to say how i feel. i saw Billie at the airport around 2:30pm(now its 3:59pm. As soon as i saw him i called up my friend i asked my friend what i should do he said to go up to Billie so i continued to walk around and look. He wanted me to show Billie our single we have on Spotify that our band had realeased back in March. Now i don't even have that chance. I feel horrible and now i'm sitting here not knowing what i feel right now! When i saw him i thought it would be "rude of me" to go up to him and say hi. And nope i didn't take a random pic of him walking bc that is actually weird/ rude bc why would i? I wouldn't go up to a random other person i see walking and just take a picture. I know Billie as well as Mike and Tre don't mind meeting fans but i overthink everything every interaction i have with anyone... even a random worker at a store. He had security with him walking so i wasn't sure if it would be rude to go up to him. I really do have bad inner thoughts and think everyone "hates me" and i didn't wanna potentionally ruin my chance or come off as weird. I was just in the airport walking around bc my flight was not til 3:25 and i get super ansy just sitting here. Now i missed my flight and its not til 5:44 now. i know most fans would ask for an autograph or pic but honestly in this moment right now i would just ask for a hug bc my grandpa died 2 weeks ago and i've been torn up and i would of just said how much Green Day means to me to him. sorry this is an emotional mess, dealing with thinking about my grandpa, and overthinking everything to the point its not even funny just hurts 😖 anyways i hope he has a safe flight(i told the delta employee bc she had to print me a new ticket) she said she saw Mike fly out earlier today so it was just Billie that i saw. currently crying my eyes out2 points

Great write up and I so agree with what you say about their love of playing live. Demonstrated again in the lovely ending with all three in stage at the end.1 point

Loved that Martin Brundle (the interviewer) knew a few song names and was able to use them as puns . 😂 "Welcome to Paradise, I hope you have the Time of your life". Think he mentioned Boulevard of Broken dreams too.1 point

Maybe he’s leaving the grey more but I think it must be the light in the ones above, looks a lot darker in some other pics. https://www.instagram.com/p/CkCOp0TtQUT/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= Looks darker in all the ones @Rumpelstiltskin2000 posted on the thread for the show.1 point

After the 1972, I think it's time Mike Dirnt does a solo album. You've heard of The Longshot, now it's time for.... - Shortdoddle -1 point

Yes same!!! Saw them 2 times this year (Rock am Ring and Hella Mega in Groningen) for the 9th time and finally after january 2017. They got a positive impression for non-Green Day Fans this year. I remeber a lot disliked their rock am ring‘13 gig and a few friends of mine don‘t like them. Even these people got a different opinion about their shows now which makes me happy because they’re still one of the best live Bands. Overall it was a good year for them and can‘t wait for their new album/tour. The latest TikTok says „see you next year“ so I‘m sure we will get a full world tour besides a few festival shows1 point

Did anyone else get their free box of Father of All Dark Roasts? I don’t even like dark roasts but this shit is so good 👍1 point

Got to agree, finally seeing GD live again was awesome. Really enjoyed the whole Hella Mega show more than I expected to. Love that we have new stuff to look forward to too!1 point

As GD have done their last gig of the year, I thought I'd post my favourite GD moments of the year: * Finally seeing them for the 2nd time after waiting an extra 2 years. GD were phenomenal. Weezer and FOB were excellent, too. Being seated in the nearest block to the stage next to the big screen give me a great view. * Being able to see GD (and the other HM bands) coming and going from the stage from where I was sitting. It was funny to see the bunny being chaperoned to/from the stage whilst masked (and now I've got Joel Dommett from the Masked Singer UK chanting "take it off" stuck in my head!) * When Billie did an unexpected cover of Ziggy Stardust during my gig- it was great to hear Blue on it's own for so long without any other members of the band playing at the same time. Here's a video I found: Ziggy Stardust - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwxapjXE8SE * All of the 1972 teasers. * The social media posts from the band.1 point

Some great video here, including a great part at the end where Tre licked Billie’s neck 😄 https://instagram.com/stories/sostark/2954487295005404466?utm_source=ig_story_item_share&igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= Also I forget there was a part where he read someone’s sign and said “Someone has a sign that says ‘I skipped school to be be here’ — I’ll do you one better, I dropped out of school to do this!”1 point

Riding the shuttle back to downtown. I’ll post pictures soon. Organization was a little crazy especially where we had to line up for pit was a long long distance down the track from the stage. You wait on line for hours and then everyone just takes off running but it was far. Anyway, pretty happy with where we ended up about six rows from the barrier and could see perfectly. Crowd around us was also very chill. Flawless (if unsurprising) show. Billie sounded great it was a good time and totally worth what it took to get in and out of this place. Green Day are always worth the trouble. For the fangirls: no tank top so lots of skin 😉1 point

I love your enthusiasm, but you really are grasping at straws at this point dude. I mean, Billie could just fart and y'all would probably think it's some kind of hint towards the next album 😅1 point

There’s a reason why it isn’t working out. I thought they’ve moved on with their lives. That would have been the mature thing to do.1 point

https://americansongwriter.com/5-songs-you-didnt-know-billie-joe-armstrong-wrote-for-other-artists/ That Shrives song is great I’ve never heard it before. You can tell it was written in 2015 it sounds very much like the stuff he wrote for Les Skunks in Ordinary World. The Go-Go’s song is also good it has Billie’s style and sound all over it.1 point
