  1. I love your enthusiasm, but you really are grasping at straws at this point dude. I mean, Billie could just fart and y'all would probably think it's some kind of hint towards the next album 😅

  2. They use Pro Tools, that's pretty much the industry standard. But tbh I would never hope that they ever start to record and mix only on gear that was available in 1972, because the sound quality would be extremely bad in comparison to such sound masterpieces like 21st Century Breakdown

  4. They will re-release Warning after Nimrod

  5. That wasn’t an implication of anything when he said that. He said that because it was Green Day’s last show of the year where the weather would be consistently warm. As much as I would love to read into everything he says, I don’t think we will get even an ounce of 1972 attention until at least AFTER the Nimrod rerelease.

  7. Tre's sounds are usually really good. Any time they don't sound really good it seems to fall in with some of the records with not so great production. I think we can expect a return to more acceptable production with 1972. I'm excited for that.

  8. ok yeah that makes more sense thanks for linking that The drums did have a really good warmer sound on 21cb. My dad was a pro drum tech for a multi-platinum band up here and he always talked highly of the drum sound on the record.

  9. If it were just me, I'd no doubt be going.......but my sister and sister in law will be going. Neither one of them are technically "fans" of Green Day.......my sister especially. They are both just going for me. lol And my sister really doesn't do well with crowds, and anything out of her normal routine. I might just let her know that it truly is going to be a cluster fuck and see what she thinks. They both have to work today so we won't even be getting there until close to the end of the races. But yes, I agree....... HAVE A GREAT TIME EVERYONE!!!! 🙂 🙂Let's hold out hope that they'll premiere You Irritate Me live for us! (We can dream, right???)

  12. I think we’re more likely to get an extra Nimrod song that’s about all I’m expecting. Now that they have something else to promote, they won’t mention 1972

  16. Drums and bass were recorded to tape https://gearspace.com/board/so-much-gear-so-little-time/388992-new-green-day-2.html

  17. I don't know about AI but 21cb was actually digital from what I was told. They had considered tape but then switched away from this last minute I think. I was part of that whole Q&A with Butch Vig and my understanding was the album was pretty much all done through pro tools. As for AI where is the info about this being recorded on tape?
    1 point
  18. GD typically, (at least with AI and 21CB), records to tape and dumps the tape into pro tools - best of both worlds.

  19. Sorry, unrelated, but did you see the price of Blink tickets, wow!

  20. Yeh when I went to my first race earlier this year it took a whole hour to get from my seat out of the actual venue, and then an extra half hour just to get back to my coach (and that was one with no gigs on so no extra people coming just for the bands). These things are usually really badly organised in terms of managing the crowds both inside and outside of the grounds but you've just gotta be really really patient and remember that seeing your fave band in this kind of environment is likely a once in a lifetime opportunity (and not even that for a lot of people) so it'll be worth it in the end.

  21. Stop Drop and Roll was all-8 track analog, and that came out pretty well. Wouldn't hate to see the Green Day name slapped on another record like that one.

  22. No doubt it will be nuts, like a big festival atmosphere. We have downtown shuttle tickets because it seemed like an easier in and out than trying to get a rideshare from where they make you go for that (at a nearby high school late at night, and then you still need a shuttle from the grounds). Just got a treat it like an adventure and certainly one of the most unusual GD shows you’ll ever see (setlist notwithstanding)

  23. Analog sounds a lot better than digital. Wasting Light by Foo Fighters is a prime example.

  29. Yep, I’m looking at it but the pods don’t fit my machine but also don’t want to subscribe as regular shipping to UK is so dear, may contact them.

  31. I don’t want Green Day on my Oakland Coffee merch.

  32. These prices are ridiculous for what is essentially free brand advertisement. $70 for a grey pullover hoodie? That’s more than the Nimrod merch was.

  35. I’ll take it but that and Scattered are the two they pull out pretty regularly, and NGFL was a single so it’s hardly even a deep track. What I wouldn’t give for a real surprise, like The Grouch or Worry Rock
    1 point
  36. That would be nice, but I think they would want to premiere a single first. Maybe they’ll play You Irritate Me, which is technically a new single. If anything, maybe they’ll drop a 1972 hint at the end of the show, since this will be the last show of the year

  38. I am glad I live on a planet where I can google "dookie" and nothing gross comes up until result number 5. result number 5 is number 2. Thanks Green Day.

  39. It is once again a super exciting time to be a Green Day fan (not that it's ever a bad time really). But the one-two punch of a new album and anniversary festivities for Nimrod are a momentous occasion. I'm going to be honest, the Dookie anniversary was pretty underwhelming. There was some merch and a short-lived series of full album shows. Nothing special for the album, but it's not like it was ever out of print. Then Insomniac raised the stakes with more merch, and a kickass album reissue with bonus content. And now Nimrod is getting even more love? Keep it up, I'm all here for it. The gold standard for any re-release is studio outtake tracks. Even having a few tacked on as bonus tracks is enough to get me to double dip on an album. But having an entire disc dedicated to unheard demos is unreal. New tracks from Green Day in their golden age makes this an instant purchase. And of course live tracks always reel fans back in, and they picked a great choice with the Electric Factory tracks previously being sprinkled into the B-sides of the Nimrod radio singles. I can go on gushing, but I really do feel strongly about how well this reissue is being handled. Plus, whoever's running their social media is already doing a tremendous job taking us back to 1997.

  40. I'm cool about the whole thing. Except one thing and one thing only. Why the hell didn't they do a box set for insomniac that was CD like they're doing for Nimrod. I would gladly given my money for that just like im giving for the nimrod set on CD. Not all of us like to deal with vinyl records. Just my two cents.

  43. If Green Day decide to record with me, this is my setup: 2014 Toshiba laptop 1995 PC microphone Wave Studio (free version) And they better bring some bass and drums with them or else they will have to do like me and improvise for rhythm sounds. Line 6 Spider Amp. A cheap guitar pedal and that's really all we're going to need. But again, Tre. If you don't bring at least a bongo, we're going to end up with guitar picks being thrown Onto a computer desk and that will have to do for drums. How mad would you guys be if nothing has been recorded or written as of today? Yikes.
