@GDFan2019 get us back on track and make a prediction that'll be completely inaccurate š12 points

Transgender isn't a slur. "Tranny" is and always has been a slur - if you weren't aware of this google it to learn more. The T in LGBT+ stands for transgender not t*****. Just because some transgender people choose to reclaim the slur by using it doesn't mean everyone should be throwing it around. It's exactly the same thing as some black people reclaiming the n word by using it or some gay people reclaiming the f word (eg Billie Joe, a bisexual man, using it in a song) etc. Pretty simple to understand. The context was that you were making a rhyming joke - it's not like you were for example quoting it in order to explain something like I just have. You weren't using it maliciously (which I'm sure you can tell I realised from my reply) but just like if people started casually using the n word on here, we don't want to see other slurs used casually either. We received reports from people who were offended so acted on them by simply pointing out that it's a slur and not appropriate. If you want to discuss further PM me. Back on topic here please.7 points

Did somebody say predictions? The Nimrod vinyl will have a little, tiny piece of paper that says 1972 on it. If you burn this paper while blending your CD copy of Nimrod, and stack up underbellies 10 feet high while also singing "Know Your Enemy" really loud.....nothing will happen. 1972 will come out tomorrow, but its real title is Omega Alpha Amanda 3000.6 points

Youāre wrong. Thereās nothing negative about what I said no matter how sensitive you are about it. Itās not a slur in fact many people in the community have used that to identify themselves. Itās just from a little before your time most likely. Youāre looking to create a negative situation out of something that isnāt negative.Nobody is throwing a slur or any hate at you. Youāre also assuming Iām not a part of that community myself. Donāt make assumptions especially when people have clarified. I really canāt make the actual truth of the situation anymore clear for you. Should you wish to extrapolate the situation beyond what it actually is that is on you, not me. In the end I explained I meant no harm by what I said. Youāre in no place to question me or āeducateā me though and itās not about how things look nor do I give a fuck how it looks. It looks like someone said something innocent and got lynch mobbed. Thatās how it fucking looks. Iām not going to justify my stance any further. I donāt owe you or anyone a further explanation. Iām a bold person but I donāt hate anyone or any group. If anything Iām complimenting Laura Janeās songwriting ability and promoting what she does as a legitimate sub genre in the scene. If you donāt agree on that itās a subjective thing and thatās fine but sheās paved the way for many musicians of ALL communities, it goes beyond the ones you have mentioned. I guess my only downfall on this is that text messaging canāt accurately convey tone, perhaps if it could maybe it would be perceived more accurately. Yet again, youāre not focused on messaging are you? Itās how you can control someoneās freedom of speech and expression. Mine will be explicit in nature, no different than how BJ used a āslurā in American Eulogy or American Idiot but I guess he has some privilege over me on doing so. My last update/statement: I get that I haven't been fully open here on GDC but I do consider myself to be a part of the community in multiple facets. I do lean a bit bi in all honesty. I wouldn't call myself fully out there or as much as some others but I had small events happen during my adolescent years. As of late I would fall in as more of an ally, being a creative person ( a musician) I obviously knew lots of people in this community that I worked closely with. My vocal coach in my first ever band was a gay musical singer. Extremely talented person who went on to become a big film director. I have a family member who came out as trans as well as a close friend. I've been myself with all of these people over a course of many years and not once have I ever been tested, protested or demonstrated against like I have here. I'm bold and a 360 thinker. They know there's so much deep thought that goes into what I present even when it seems like some carefree joke. If you can only grasp the surface of what I'm communicating then you're missing the point entirely. @Hermione Know that I don't blame you for post at all. My comment in response is an open-dialogue which states that there is a difference between perception and a word that's origin lies as a slur. There's a T in LGBTQ. If you look into the history of the word I used you will see it was an identifier before it was perceived as a slur. Something like the N-word started as, continued as and remains a slur in all facets, it's not how it's perceived it's the actual origin of the word itself. However, it's used today in specific art forms to highlight messages in lyrics. In no different of a way than Billie uses faggot in American Idiot. Usually I go straight to anger but I have to say I am disappointed in GDC. I do see some people supporting me here and I see you and appreciate you. As for the others, you have strong feelings and your hearts are in the right places but your heads are not. Using manipulation tactics make you wrong, not right. It's one thing to confront hate it's another thing to blindly walk away from facts in support of your personal feelings, opinions and agenda. If you are a victim of this malignancy in society you are not in a position to even attempt to "educate" somebody. Educate yourself. It's a shame that Billie can throw whatever lyrics he wants out there and you all "understand" it and eat it up. You see it in front of your face from someone else and you attack it and essentially coerce somebody to reveal details about their personal lives out of scrutiny and lynch mobbing. You work so hard to feel accepted in your own minds that you push away people who are exactly like you and with you.6 points

Considering they're making more of a deal with Nimrod than they did with Dookie, I hope that means that Warning will get a lot of love too. If there is a lot of extra material out there, that album is so loved now by fans I think it will be much appreciated.6 points

With the Nimrod anniversary set coming in January, I'm thinking more realistically now. Now I'm thinking we'll get a single in late March, the album would be out in May, and the tour would start in June. @Sanity Loan what are your thoughts?5 points
-
No, I think thatās pretty unlikely. I think it more likely either their many business ventures are taking up too much of their time, they arenāt making any money or the guys just got bored with them. I think they all probably could spare some cash if they needed to on a new project.4 points
-
I think the answer is just that they've had a lot more going on during this recording period than for their other recording periods which most likely delayed the recording. Additionally, the album is probably more or less finished at this point and would probably be out by January if it weren't for the Nimrod anniversary edition but they don't want to release both of them around the same time because they don't want one album to overshadow the other4 points

Have a day off. Finding reasons to get offended on behalf of other people, itās pathetic & virtue signalling in its worst form. Tranny is the name of the book by LJG. Therefore we can use the word, without fear of retribution from internet cry-babies like yourself. Youāre basically saying ānobody can use the word tranny in case it offends somebody.ā So I canāt go into my local bookstore and ask the staff member if they have ātrannyā in stock? Get the fuck out.4 points

This is so boring. I miss Billie Joe on instagram. When the Longshot posts that will be the end of much of this boring shit. Where is the Longshot or Billie Joe Armstrong?4 points

I think they didn't release something on Dookie besides the Woodstock lp (if it counts on something) is because they know there are a lot of stuff out already in bootleg form and they don't have nothing "exclusive" to make profit. In the same way, I wish they had the vision to see that they have a lot of promotion material ready to sell but something stops them to do it so. I mean, the jannus landing 94 is ready, barcelona 94 is ready, they had the chicago show sleeping for years. Woodstock video is a nightmare of licensing but is there too. If exclusivity is the mark to release or not release, they are losing a lot because there's nothing greater than a package with goodies inside to celebrate a record. This new comp sets the bar really high for the next one. I know they can do something even bigger with Warning if we get there... At least now we have something in a good level. I just can't wait to hear those demos4 points

I don't think it's that Nimrod was a priority over 1972, I think it's because the pandemic delayed the tour, so they had to squeeze the 1972 recording sessions and Nimrod mixing sessions in the middle of the tour.3 points

If an anniversary release of their third best-selling album takes priority over new music, Green Day is officially a legacy act.3 points

There may be people who use it in the community and donāt care or donāt find it offensive. But that doesnāt mean it wouldnāt make someone else uncomfortable.2 points

I don't understand what's happening. If you say a slur and people take offence, you can just say "sorry, I didn't mean anything by it" and move on. Or you could just not say anything about it and change the subject once Hermione said "Hey this is a slur. Ik you didn't mean anything by it but how about don't use it". This is also not an issue of freedom of speech or expression. You're allowed to do whatever you want, you have that right. People are also allowed to be critical of you2 points

I'm counting the days particularly for cd disc 3, live at the Electric Factory, 20 songs. As far as I can see, although it says full concert on uTube, there's only 17mins? Green Day live, heaven on fuckin earth, orgasmic. š¤2 points

Lol this wont be a popular post because people have real strong subjective feelings here. I agree though, alot of peopleās feelings and beliefs here are as fragile as glass. itās great to feel strongly about stuff and have beliefs but when it completely blinds people from enjoying a joke or even seeing deeper contexts in specific messaging it becomes sad. We live in an Orwell state. My deep comment is basically a verbalized thought crime on GDC. Its hard to be a 360 thinker thatās thick skinned in 2022 I love when people have to resort to passive aggressive posts because theyāve objectively lost a pointless argument. Letās face it you see the artillery and youāre backing off. No need to save face just go off and enjoy your day. Itās no big deal at all. as for your last comment you just used the āslurā. Should I lynch mob you now and ignore the context?2 points
-
So essentially you didnāt read any of the objective statements I posted. Choosing to not remain silent doesnāt change objectivity. If you choose to not remain silent remain on the actual objective topics at hand. To continue the attempt of manipulating based on subjective perceptions is taking this nowhere and is the exact issue here. Advising on my ārightsā is quite humorous. You donāt get to decide my rights or freedom of expression. Once again as stated in my post if you canāt grasp the context in my original post thatās not on me. The irony of your comment about making people feel unwelcome is more humorous when Iāve faced nothing but that myself. The lynch mob routine only works on those who are easily manipulated. I know the facts as well as context and spirit of my original post. I know this is a crazy idea for some of you, but I donāt answer to you or your agenda. Iām sorry if my post offended you in some way but if it did youāre missing the entire spirit of what I stand for and my sense of humour and use of irony and sarcasm etc Itās sophisticated and an acquired taste so Iāll be the bigger person here and be the understanding one. Itās completely ok not to like it or me. Didnt Billie use a few in his songs? Those ones arenāt based on perceptions either!2 points

Someone said they think the line is ālike a tick on a dogās dickā¦ā and that makes more sense (even though ew) He uses the dog analogy a lot : ātime drags when you work like a dogā, ālike a dog that just pissed on your bbqā, etc2 points

Sounds plausible. Iām not aware of anything I havenāt already said, so still just ā2023.ā Itās hard to tell if the Nimrod release in late January is timed due to physical media production, or to start generating buzz for whatās next. Iād have to assume the new album would be out by When We Weāre Young, at the latest. If more festivals are announced or we start hearing rumors of venues getting booked for tour dates, Iād think weād have a more accurate estimate of when an album would be released. Has Green Day ever been a band to start a tour prior to an album being released? (Excluding the trilogy)1 point

Oooo Predictions? I gotta get on this bandwagon since I'm not supposed to prophesy... My prediction is: The album makes people feel bad and depressed and lonely and has a great tune/beat to it and it is written for S&M projects. Seriously... does anyone really want to be abused by the music they listen to? Only a few songs by this band aren't abusive... and those are the songs I like them for. Billie Joe Armstrong is a shameful addict who doesn't give a crap about whose life he ruins. He likes causing harm and then pretends that kissing someone on the cheek is going to make up for it ( anyone up for a billiard cattle brand?). I mean shit... He acts like a TODDLER who got left in a bathtub while his dad went to do clothes washing in a hotel while his mother was stuck in an inpatient unit... who was found exposing himself to people walking past the window, having the curtains flung wide open in his hands by the time his dad got back. Yeah I'm just a little ticked off at his behavior... as a lot of people should be... why are we paying for him to do this shit? I want to hear him make good music and songs that arent the rehashing of peoples verbal turds. "KNOW YOUR ENEMY" ..... I know my enemy and my enemy is none of your damn business.1 point

Tr*nny is literally a slur and a word that you used. Trans people might say it for the purpose of reclamation but the fact of the matter is that you are not trans yourself and as such have no real right to claim it as a part of your lexicon on a public forum. Have trans friends? Cool, if they are fine with you using it around them there is no issue with that. However, you could very well hurt and make any trans person reading feel unwelcome. As somebody in a close personal relationship with a trans woman, I simply can't remain silent on this specific issue.1 point

It is once again a super exciting time to be a Green Day fan (not that it's ever a bad time really). But the one-two punch of a new album and anniversary festivities for Nimrod are a momentous occasion. I'm going to be honest, the Dookie anniversary was pretty underwhelming. There was some merch and a short-lived series of full album shows. Nothing special for the album, but it's not like it was ever out of print. Then Insomniac raised the stakes with more merch, and a kickass album reissue with bonus content. And now Nimrod is getting even more love? Keep it up, I'm all here for it. The gold standard for any re-release is studio outtake tracks. Even having a few tacked on as bonus tracks is enough to get me to double dip on an album. But having an entire disc dedicated to unheard demos is unreal. New tracks from Green Day in their golden age makes this an instant purchase. And of course live tracks always reel fans back in, and they picked a great choice with the Electric Factory tracks previously being sprinkled into the B-sides of the Nimrod radio singles. I can go on gushing, but I really do feel strongly about how well this reissue is being handled. Plus, whoever's running their social media is already doing a tremendous job taking us back to 1997.1 point

Same. Listening to this song or watching the video is just painful. It's corny, it's boring, it's easy to forget (making it very appropriately named), and just lame. Green Day have much better ballads than this.1 point
