  1. I actually think RevRad was the closest they came since 21CB to having that full passion. I will say there was nothing truly spectacular about that album, but it does seem like they made some effort to create some sort of common theme throughout the album, and the lyrics did have some meaning to them. The reason I like it so much as an album is because they showed their love and care for the songs by playing many of them during their concerts and playing with passion. I can’t make any true determinations from the teasers whether they have a lot of passion behind this album or not, but if it’s true that they have been going into the studio for this long (minus touring time), it seems like they are taking time on this one, which HOPEFULLY means playing around with songs until they work.

  2. The honesty doesn’t tend to come out until the next cycle so I’m curious if we’ll get some truths about FOAM once they’re discussing the new album and contrasting it with what they did previously. That’s usually when they backtrack.

  3. The first comments I see on that post is people saying "Release 1972" and "FOAM sucks". I mean, I get it but my god guys, this is not the place.

  6. But RHCP did it because of John. You can feel the difference in their music now. John LIVES for music and their music with Josh was really boring and disappointing. UL was a good album and their shows are pretty good right now (compared to shows with Josh). But they lost their passion for a time after John left the band. For me I still feel the passion in their music post 21stCB (except for FOAM) when you listen to Rusty James (especially), Brutal Love, Youngblood, Bang Bang or Forever Now.

  7. I see good old Ticketmaster is introducing “dynamic” ticket pricing in the UK now, like you guys in the US suffer from already. I thought that wasn’t allowed here but was obviously wrong. They say it’s to cut down on scalping, yeah, right! 😡😡😡 Like getting tickets wasn’t traumatic enough!

  11. I don't think it's an issue of band members not giving a shit. I mean Mike has taken a backseat since American Idiot, playing more of a supporting role to the point where I don't think he really knows how to do what he was doing back in the 90's for the new albums. That's not to say that he's not capable of writing good basslines, the trilogy had a bunch of them but more often than not he's more in the background and that's his comfort zone. Billie Joe I think has always gave a shit about Green Day's new music but I think he's sort of been unsure of what to do with Green Day, which direction to take it whether to go with a more Foxboro sound, a more American Idiot sound, experiment more etc. Why do you think that they've been alternating between the "American Idiot" sound (AI, 21CB, RevRad) and the "Foxboro" sound (SD&R, trilogy, FOAM) for every album since American Idiot. Also, when an album doesn't perform as well I think he tends to distance himself from it somewhat. After the trilogy bombed, he started the RevRad promo by saying the trilogy had "absolutely no direction to them" and were an attempt at being "prolific for the sake of it" but I think the trilogy was important to him as he continued to play some of those songs under The Longshot where fans would be more accepting of hearing trilogy songs and with FOAMF they have avoided performing it or really even talking about it.

  12. Speaking of the likely plans in the works for next year’s tour, if you’re like me and you’re interested in behind the scenes tour logistics, this video does a great job of explaining all that goes into getting a major tour from city to city. It’s pretty insane:

  15. I’m not totally sure how I’m expecting this album to sound, but perhaps it may sound like a mix between the longshot and also green day itself? I feel with the album title and the fact it’s basically their own birth years, maybe we could be getting a more classic and throwback green day sound? I wouldn’t be complaining if the lyrics end up sounding as if they’ve came off of slappy or even kerplunk, but the album itself end up sounding more like revrad/ 21st century breakdown

  16. They guys should play characters for this album. Tre - a super hero called Pizza Man who blasts 5 dollar pizzas from his abdomen. Mike Dirnt will be Bubble Gum Bob. He chews gum. Billie Joe be The Toxic Avenger. They battle the Network and lose. All the music videos (15 of them) will be very similar to the Oh Love video, but way more obscene. Quadruple double album. The cover will have a mutated monkey donkey unicorn that is Pukey from an alternate dimension. The music will sound like Rocky Horror Picture show and Hee Haw Had a sexy car wreck. You get a free pack of beer and bubble gum. Oh and Josh Klingwhateves from RHCP will play ALL instruments on the album. Boom.

  17. It doesn’t cut down on scalping, it just changes who the scalpers are, but as the ticket buyer you’re still getting gouged.

  18. Ugh yeah recently ran into this when trying to buy Depeche Mode tickets. I had some for a good section and when I tried to check out the price doubled. Insanity. If anything dynamic pricing is going to push me towards second hand sellers. @That Dude I never want to see HIM again. Seen them 3 times and they're fine live. Nothing spectacular but kind of bland. Same goes for Bullet For My Valentine. They sound good but energy wise it's okay. Also, I want to see where people are calling Slipknot's new album a troll album. All comments I've seen are either mixed or positive.

  20. Happy birthday Insomniac, possibly my favourite record ever ❤️❤️❤️

  21. Yes stupid argument with „scalping“ 😂 They could personalize it instead of that dynamic shit. Everything‘s getting more expensive in the EU/UK and people don‘t waste their money anymore. As far as I know ticket sales went down already. Like Rock am Ring 100€ more and still no Bands Hope the EU doing something.

  30. Do you guys think there will be swearing on 1972? I hope it's either all or nothing. More F-bombs that Kill the DJ or a totally different and more creative writing style in terms of lyrics. Intentionally no buzzwords for a more timeless feel. No hearts. No guns. No freaking-gosh darned Amanda tracks. Whatshisface can come back, maybe St. Jimmy. Also, can anyone tell me the best place to submit my xlyophone parts? I really feel like it would warm the album up a bit. I want a Do Da Da part 2. Like a dog. BBQ.

  34. Sometimes they do sometimes they don’t. These days they tend to allow at least a day or two between shows but in the old days it was normal to schedule a couple of shows on consecutive nights. Someone in the comments mentioned that larger acts also have two stage setups and have one set up in the next city at the same time as they are playing in the current one, and then leapfrog that stage to the city after that. I think Green Day does that too.
    1 point
  35. This video talks about getting to the next city within the next 21 hours, but at least Green Day had a day off in between each show to allow for travel

  36. Back in '91 listening to all sorts of amazing shit, still felt there was something missing. Just something I could relate too and shut out this fucked up world. Then it happened, on the radio one day, an awesome sound entered my ears and sent my brain as high as a kite. Dry Ice by some band called Green Day. The intro, that sound from Billie Joe's guitar 'blue". I'd never heard anything like it. Thank you Green Day you changed my life for ever. Dry Ice will always have a special place in my heart.

  39. Hell no! OK don't be a dick and wave it around for whole songs, or a whole shows, but I still want to get a few little videos and pictures. Sorry Billie, I just ignored you anyway, waited a couple of songs and then carried on. It was funny because at Hella Mega I was kind of expecting it. Then what does BJ do? Go and and ask us all to turn on the torch and wave it around!🤣

  40. Billie says a lot of things. Sometimes he changes his mind only seconds later. *Flashback to BIAB* Billie: "This song's called St Jimmy!" Billie: "Starry nights, city lights coming down over me..."

  42. So Slipknot are only playing ONE song from their brand new album and it's being called a "troll" album to get out of their contract just like FOAM. Of course I fall in love with trolls, I'm That Dude - Troll Lover Extraordinaire. I was going to bash Slipknot for having a dull set list too, but it's the reality of rock show. Once a band get's to Green Day or Slipknot status, they are part of the machine. Play what the people want. It's all you can do. Oh wait - it's not reality. Because PEARL JAM. Pearl Jam are a massive band. On the same level as Slipknot and a bit below Green Day in Spotify numbers. Green Day has 20 million and the other two bands have 10 million. But Pearl Jam can come out and play 25 random songs each and every night. Sometimes they play big hits, but they always cover most of their discography, cover different songs by different artists. I guess I want every band to be a Pearl Jam in concert. One last thing and this rant will be over. Do you guys have bands that you love but don't want to see live at all? Alkaline Trio and Highly Suspect are my two examples. I ADORE those bands, but they don't play a single song that I love them because of. TROLL LOVER, OUT.
