So i feel I've never made a true speculation on here, so this is what I think: The album will be 12 songs, with a run time of 45-50 minutes No song will hit the 5 minute mark. There will be one slow/ballad type song. The album will be released May 12.5 points

1972 will be filled with songs that are 7+ minutes long. Just wait for @That Dude to tell us the tracklist which contain 20 minute songs3 points

Some of Kevin's pics were repeats or tourist shots so haven't included those Tré from @bubukittyfk3 points

Sugar Youth would sound so good live and it's barely two minutes. Surely they can manage that?3 points

You're definitely thinking about this one. I could picture a beautiful piano and lush string section joining in!!!2 points

Actually, every song is going to be exactly 3 minutes and 30 seconds. Even if the song isn't over, it will separate and be the beginning of the next track. So....I guess there will be 7+ minute songs, but they will be broken up into pieces. 😄 I hope they replace Mike Dirt with Van Gough. And revisit the scenery from the Boulevard of Broken Dreams video. Have a mechanic working on the car and have a Wizard of Oz style transformation of the world. Maybe in that reality, Jesus and Amanda can be together. Oh boy. Where did that come from? I hope 1972 is just code for something else. A placeholder title. My phone is at 72 percent.2 points

Well I’m sure everyone had a great time, but that was a long way to for a very short concert after it was cut!2 points

It’s funny, I’m sure they could still find a way to turn this into a 90 minute set2 points

I'm definitely expecting a change for the 1972 tour. For all of their previous albums besides FOAMF, they played a majority of songs from their album for the following tour and FOAMF was only excluded because it didn't have its own tour. The Hella Mega Tour wasn't a "Father of All tour". I'm very confident that they will play 1972 songs live for their next tour. And I'm still confident that FOAMF will make an appearance on the tour in some way. Whether that be them just playing one song once or twice, having one song be played regularly on the tour, having multiple songs show up etc.2 points

I was wondering If we will hear someday all these Network/Foxboro songs in previously Green Day versions I have already said that here, but I think the Hella Mega was made 'cause they want to bring more people to Green Day shows in future. So play all the hits in many festivals around the world was the best choice.2 points

You beat me to it, very good. Billie will also spend a lot of time holding his arms up in the air and smiling like a deviant.1 point

Yeah realistically I don't think they would bother when they believe the audience wouldn't know it or love it. They want to promote new songs or play crowd pleasers.1 point

I've always said the exact same thing. Just GD shows have longer setlist's. People did then point out to me that GD are getting older and are 'slowing down', so I guess we'll have to wait and see. (I personally don't like to hear this and stick my fingers in my ears and go 'la la la')! 🤣🙉1 point

It would seem very unlike them to just mail it in, but a 10-track LP clocking in at the minimum, after a 4-year gap, sort of does beg the question. One thought I had was that maybe the songs put a lot of strain on BJ's voice. Imagine him yelping out FRA every night for 6 months or whatever before his vocal chords are just like "nope". They've also pointed out in the past that they don't write songs which can't be played live. That may well have been true up until this record- we all know there was plenty of experimentation on FOAM, and maybe that was the goal more than translating the songs to a live setting.1 point

@GuitarPunk94 @Insomniac90 Interesting that you all feel this way. From what I could tell fans have been mixed. Some really don't like it. Some are into it, so I'm surprised to hear it's regarded as their worst. I have no idea how I feel about it. And I have no idea if they just didn't give a shit, but it's an interesting theory especially with Jim Roots recent comments. (But we can continue this in the Slipknot thread!) To keep this on track, I never bought the whole FOAMF is a troll album. I think this is just what they wanted to do and some fans got so upset that they took that album along with Billie's comments about their contract with Warner coming to an end to come to the conclusion that they must not care. That being said, it is strange they didn't include any FOAMF songs on tour. I wonder if that's because they knew it wasn't very well received.1 point
-
I don’t think it was a troll or even a low effort album (well it was low effort in that it was 26 minutes long). But I do think they decided to experiment with a style they’re weren’t really comfortable with and didn’t care about the consequences because what would the label do? They could afford to take the loss on it so they had the freedom to be weird. They knew they weren’t making any attempt at a “comeback” or big hit record (which was why they almost called it American Idiot 2 and scribbled over AI for the cover - yes, that was undoubtedly a troll according to Billie himself)1 point

It’s weird that Butch Walker’s defense as producer was “I just did what the band wanted!” when that is not really your job as producer. You need to be an impartial set of ears and tell the band what a song needs and how to make an album sound better. If you’re just doing what they tell you to do then what’s the point of you? A technical job is just an engineer.1 point
