Or they can take a likely much-needed break, like they've always done over the holidays time.8 points

Nothing will be announced during the F1 shows in October. Next month will probably be quiet about 1972 again. But I'm optimistic for november tho6 points

I'm happy to wait until next year for a single but would be nice to at least get some more teasers in the meantime4 points

Okay, so as much as I don't love the paparazzi, I have to actually thank the Daily Mail here...he saw it and clearly said Fuck IT! My belly is all over social media now so why am I wearing these fucking very uncomfortable SPANX on stage?!!!! The bellie is back and it is free, baby!! Free the bellie!!! Also, from the little I've watched, does he not seem a little sassier? Brought back the eyeliner?!! Billie I feel ya...the after 50 bellie is a bitch! We love ya...🥰 xo4 points

Nobody could have made that up because setlist.fm said that zero people went to that show. It was just the band playing to an empty venue to prove they are still punk.3 points

I get fed up having to carry my purse/phone etc to a concert, who the hell takes a mannequin’s leg 😂😂😂😂3 points

I made this setlist up to prove that the first one is probably also fake, just sayin3 points

I bet it is too. Adrienne must be absolutely fed up with this nonsense. She needs to slip security a 100 dollar bill so she can get to her husband....and just punch him in the face. "It's been like 30 years. Get over her already. Only write songs about me, you American Idiot." But as Billie Joe lays in the floor with cartoon birds flying around his head, Adrienne can already see it in his eyes...... He's wondering how Whatshername has been. I bet Amanda was born in 1972.3 points

I think the mental approach will be similar but creatively from a songwriting perspective it will need to be different. Rev Rad did a great job of bringing some new energy into the setlist with the title track and Bang Bang. Songs like Still Breathing and Ordinary World give them some options to slot some different tempos into the setlist going forward as well so it was a positive effort. The middle of the album isn't cohesive enough though and for this reason I feel like Revolution Radio is actually one of Green Day's most overrated albums. The next album can be similar in the vein of adding some fresh tracks to the different areas of the setlist but it will need to pack a punch all the way through 12-13 songs. They don't have to stray away from 1-3 experiments on it, they just need to make sure they're well executed and completed ideas.3 points

They told us months ago that it won't be released until 2023. That's literally all they've told us about 1972. Stop expecting an announcement. It's probably not gonna happen until at least December. We don't know how big of a project this is. Maybe the reason it's taking this long is because it's a lot longer or more of an ambitious project than RevRad or FOAM. Or maybe they just want to make sure that they get it right this time so we don't have another FOAM situation I'd get it if it had been 5 years since the last GD project but it's been less than 3 years since FOAM and there was a Network project and 3 Green Day songs (and a covers album) released since FOAM. Idk why everyone is so desperate to hear something immediately. I don't want them to release something before they're happy with the project3 points

"...and a prosthetic leg “I gotta say, you guys are a bunch of weird motherf***ers out here tonight,” Green Day's Armstrong said when a fan threw their prosthetic leg onto the stage. “There’s some f***ing Jeffrey Dahmer s*** going on here. I’m taking my leg and going home.” He then signed it and threw it back into the audience. Rumor has it that the prosthetic leg was signed by mostly every artist that played the festival over the weekend!" https://www.instagram.com/reel/Ci8Y0SEg41s/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link2 points

Agreed, she is an archetype, an attitude and also a strong female role in their stories and imagery. I think at some point he is drawing on her but the character is no longer her. He has also written more personally though a few times and I believe she also represents abandonment as well. I had a close friend who basically ditched me in the way she disappeared on Billie Joe. It's a weird thing to go through, especially with our personality types as we are very vocal. I understand why he wrote about it, I also wrote songs about my experience and that person in my life. It's a real character, event and a whole mixed bag of thoughts and feelings. It's the healthiest way I could digest all of it.2 points

Geek Stink Breath can't verify any facts from after AI Even the band themselves have a hard time really verifying release facts from when they were on Lookout Records. This is mostly due to production issues faced by the company at the time. All the records were assembled by Larry himself and when Op Ivy's Energy outsold the initial expectation Larry and a few volunteers were perpetually behind in assembling the albums. Fast forward years later and add Kerplunk into the mix and they were completely slammed. Green Day's sales accelerated quickly and throughout their life on Lookout Records Larry could never produce enough supply to meet demand. This probably lead to chaos and a lot of confusion. Those books and FAQs are mostly based off anecdotal info from people on the scene. Someone may have seen an EP before they saw the album despite the initial pressing of the album being released first or vice-versa. It really depends on what the band had available to sell at the shows when they arrived. Any hard release dates we do have are just the dates where initial pressings were sold and for 39/Smooth they didn't have many.2 points

I don't know how much they're investing into this project but we do know that they've been to Oceanway and some reputable studios. Rob Cavallo is back with them and I'm pretty sure he's telling them if I'm in this next project let's actually make a maximum Green Day record this time in real studios. I also think CLA is back with them on this project. It would seem they are taking their time and proceeding with care but we also know going too far and taking too long won't help the process either. I think a fall 2023 release may be most probable and realistic. It will also be considered for a Grammy if it is released in a proper window. The band doesn't and shouldn't care about that but I think it's great timing and great opportunity for them to be visible and open themselves up to another generation of possible fans. As for that teaser in the clip, it seems like some joke or them messing around but I like the different sound. Something like that well executed and fully completed could really be a cool addition to the album. It's got a 60's vibe to it which is really true to Green Day's formula but I also think it's on par with some modern stuff too. Vaporwave, dead mall music and overall just chill trippy stuff (which often includes some psychedelic sounds and what not) is really growing and not to mention a lot of underground solo artists are spewing out a lot of psychedelic sounds and riffs. In my day our underground scene was all about pulling out distortion pedals, luckily those nu-metal ones went out of style quickly! Now there's a growth in space echos, delay pedals, wahs etc. You even hear psychedelics nuances in Billie Eilish's music which is probably the most mainstream artist that does that right now. I've always felt Green Day was somewhat mainstream but it's only because they were able to crossover several generations and counter-cultures. Mainstream rock fans like GD, Alt rock fans like GD, Classic Rock fans now like GD, Metal fans like GD, hell even rap fans like GD. Right now it may feel counter-culture is a thing of the past but it still exists in a more introverted chilled kind of way.2 points

ABC6 released a short article/video about the kid that went on stage, as it seems he's from the area https://6abc.com/student-performs-with-green-day-firefly-music-festival-west-chester-on-stage-dover/12267561/1 point

Why not? 21stCB took 15 months and even before the recording sessions they were teasing us with snippets out of the studio (chocolate rain). It‘s possible we‘ll get an announcement in december with a single and tour announcement and album release in april/may. Slipknot did the same and released the 1st single last year in november and album announcement in July this year and their album is coming out on friday.1 point

“Could I have done without the superfluous cover of Kiss’ “Rock and Roll All Nite?” Sure, especially considering it’s a slot in the set list that could have gone to any number of Green Day originals that would have made the theater go bananas, like “She” or “Bang Bang” or “Nice Guys Finish Last” or “The Grouch” or “Warning.” “ Respect. ✊🏻 This author knows his stuff1 point

Plans have clearly changed at this point. We've heard from the man himself that 2023 is when the new album should come out. Also, he just implied they'd be touring North America next summer. I think we're probably in for a Spring/early Summer album release. With a single probably a few months prior.1 point

When I was shopping in town with mum and she told me that a nearby busker had just started to play When Sept Ends. She wants to see GD the next time they come to the UK (after being underwhelmed by a couple of 1980s acts’ live shows earlier this year, she now wants to see younger, livelier acts with a reasonable set length).1 point

I know this isn’t a trilogy thread, I wish it could be done all over again. With the band available to promote, things would have gone much differently (for the better, I presume). And if it was a singular album? Gahhh, it could have been considered one of their best.1 point
