  1. I know this isn’t a trilogy thread, I wish it could be done all over again. With the band available to promote, things would have gone much differently (for the better, I presume). And if it was a singular album? Gahhh, it could have been considered one of their best.

  2. I think we can close this thread now that we know '1972' is just the name of Billie's new leather-vest fashion line being rolled out next year.

  10. Those keyboard parts are definitely just them fucking around haha, although would be so funny if something like that ended up on the record. I've isolated audio from some of these teasers that have tracks playing over them (by grabbing the original tracks and flipping phase), particulary in the one where Billie drops his pick it makes it a lot easier to hear the song that's playing. Drum beat sounds very Whatsername-ish, and thinking about it I'm pretty sure that and the 'hotter the better' one are the same track since they're roughly the same tempo and it looks like he's wearing the same outfit before the guitar change. I'm thinking it might not be a coincidence that they used Whatsername above that clip in the teaser... 🤔

  12. I so want a single to be out before Austin so I know they’ll play it there 🙏🙏🙏

  13. I’ll be there. I will do anything in my power to record. I went to the Jack White show two days ago and they made everyone put them in locked pouches. Dont think this will be the case since they didnt mention anything about it.

  14. Not gonna lie, that TikTok gave me goosebumps. I need to see this band live again.

  15. For sure. I just don't think they're ready for that yet 😂 And I take it they value most everything about playing shows more than the money.

  16. Seemingly no opener for this? A bit odd. With only a 7K person venue, this place must be paying Green Day A LOT to play this show. Doesn't seem like the kind of thing the band normally does.
    3 points
  17. I feel like every venue says that .... but never ends up actually standing up to the mob of angry sleep-deprived emo kids.

  18. Pretty sure that's just CLA fucking around, that's the live room in Mix LA he uses as kind of a hangout area for bands coming to listen to mixes. So at the point of that clip's recording the record was being mixed and recording was already finished

  19. His voice is fine I saw em in 05, 09, and hella mega at Hersey they were the best live band easily out of the others and his vocals were stronger and better then the other front men..people need to chill

  21. I'm pretty sure for my first listen to FOAMF I still started on track 1 even though I had heard tracks 1-3 already. I think hearing the album in its full context is the best way to first experience a new album regardless of if you've heard some of the tracks already Also hot take but I think Oh Love was the best choice for a lead single for Uno! Except for maybe Let Yourself Go (although that might've mislead people into thinking most of the project would have that kind of energy)

  27. As long as it was a trilogy, it was always going to get more hate than all their previous albums (apart from Warning maybe) regardless of whether they were there to promote it. Oh Love & Kill the DJ got its fair share of hate even before iHeartRadio happened. And people would still be saying that there was a lot of filler on the album. Nightlife would still be hated. The Forgotten would still be unfairly criticized for being on Twilight. It may have done a little better in the mainstream but GD fans still wouldn't have been that kind However, I personally prefer it as a trilogy. Not because every track is perfect but because there's still far more than an albums worth of material there. Even if they made it an 18 track album like 21CB, we'd still miss out on some decent tracks imo. If they were to release a single album, I'd still want the rest of the tracks (or most of them at least) to be released in some way or form whether that be under the Foxboro Hot Tubs or another side project or something else I don't think the trilogy was that out there for the band anyway though. If you think about it, for 21CB they released around 2 hours worth of material from 2008 and 2009. Stop Drop & Roll (32:37 + 2:40 for Highway 1), 21st Century Breakdown (69:13), B-sides (2:16 + 2:39) which totals 1:49:25 of original material. If you want to include the iTunes deluxe bonus tracks (7:59 + 2:46 + 2:01 + 6:10), then that's 2:08:21 of material in total. So really the only difference in 2012 was how they packaged the material as a trilogy 2008-2009 is peak Green Day in terms of quantity & quality. The only material from this era I'm not a fan of is 1 or 2 of the covers they did Is that 2nd clip at the end of the video actual music for 1972? Because that doesn't sound like anything they've done before

  33. Is it too much for me to hope that they'll perform the new single tonight, then around midnight EST or PST time they'll post the first single? 👀 regardless of recordings, ppl will be talking about it and with talk the single won't be as looked forward to, so they'll drop it just hours afterwards for all to enjoy?

  34. On one hand, the recordings have gotten out of control. On the other, they've done this shit before with the trilogy. Color me stoked. EDIT: ok I just realized that this is all happening tonight. AND YESTERDAY WAS AI'S 18TH BIRTHDAY!

  37. And that's fine if it's one song you can skip and not a single, or every song. Wtih FOAM it was literally every single and possibly other songs too that we never heard.

  38. Having gone to Hella Mega, the only difference I noticed in his performance was that he didn’t jump around/jump off things as much as he did during the Rev Rad tour and he didn’t crawl through Mike’s legs during Basket Case. His vocals were great.

  39. To be fair, Oh Love got a lot of radio play that summer before the iHeart incident. Also, what do you guys think of Cavallo’s critique of that song they were working on? “Tré had a perfect take believe it or not except for a couple of places. He was so on it until like bar 100. I never had a feeling it wasn’t doing something great.”

  40. I think you guys are jumping to conclusions. Still Breathing is at the top of his range. I was shocked to hear that they even chose it as a single for that reason. You listen to a song like Jesus of Suburbia, the intro already sounds like the top of his range. That's a high F note. Still Breathing's chorus touches a G#. A whole step and a half above one of the highest notes he hit in recent years and a whole octave higher than the 90s era songs ever hit for the most part. Soooo....Billie may be out of his comfort zone with songs like Still Breathing, but he's actually been writing and performing some songs in recent years that have MORE physicality and range than what he's used to.

  41. So back in 2000 I saw green day at warped tour and I was that kid who kept yelling "warning", I really wanted to hear something new and the album was about 2 and a half months away at that point. I didn't notice this, but my friend next to me said that Billie looked at me at one point and shook his head 😂 I also remember reading in an old interview that they said they weren't going to play new songs on that tour because they didn't think it was fair to the fans because they wouldn't be able to go out and buy the new song they just heard. They've definitely changed their way of thinking over the years but I feel like if they were going to play a new song they would have done it by now.

  44. I think Amanda represents an archetype even though she was an actual person. When he writes about a rebellious, independent activist type person, he is drawing on her but not actually writing about her like he is pining for her. She has just become a character that he is inspired by often (and sometimes wishes he were, much more so than someone he wishes he were with). She's just inspiration.
