Talked to someone who’s a casual fan (but enough of a fan to consider going to a show) - they asked if I went and what it was like. Of course I said it was awesome and then they ask what the setlist was like, if they played their new stuff… so i’m like “ugh yeah not really, mostly Dookie/AI it made perfect sense at a festival though” and they go “oh that’s awesome I wouldn’t want to hear the new stuff” 😭 Made me understand gd’s setlist decisions a bit better

You know what? I came up in here to complain about the setlist, but instead ended up watching most of the concert because Green Day are absolutely the best live band on the planet. In this footage, it's clear that the band is a bit roady-weary but still giving it all they've got. As I sit here (a bit drunkenly I might add) thinking about life, love and choices...I think Green Day are in a bittersweet twilight. They feel good, but they also feel just a tiny bit of pressure from the fact that they aren't on top anymore. Like the wrong haircut or outfit might lead to empty seats one day. So they keep playing the big smash hits, because what else can they do really? What can any of us do? Am I okay? I promise, man. Ask MCR.

It's a good point. Two negative critics I've seen so far about this edition of Rock in Rio: Axl Rose and Billy Idol. One critic said Billy's voice were in ruins. And then the critics say that they shouldn't let decadent artists on the main stage because their show isn't so good. On the other hand, Iron Maiden was still praised this year. I hope Green Day leans towards Iron Maiden's path instead of Axl's

Did anyone think it was odd when at the end of Knowledge Billie went straight into the next song without interacting with the girl who played guitar? Usually he asks their name and tells them they get to keep it or something. It was like he ignored her and just started singing and a roadie took her off. I doubt there was any reason for it but it just seemed unusual.

EJN is a better song from 21CB that used to have fans on stage and is an absolute killer live. But ocasional fans don't know it. But to be honest, I just think Billie loves this song and wants to play it and that's it.

I don't really get why they're still playing Know Your Enemy tbh. I get that it was a pretty successful single off of 21CB and it's the only track off the album they play (apart from 21 Guns which they only started playing for Hella Mega & will probably stop playing it for 1972 tour) but is anyone actually going to a Green Day show specifically hoping to hear Know Your Enemy? Why not play literally any other song from the album (which are all just better songs) instead? Imagine if they started playing the title track or East Jesus Nowhere again. Or just any of the non-singles from the album I guess the reason why Billie specifically would want to play that track over the rest of 21CB is because of how rough that time was for him and the other tracks probably remind him of how hard it was to create that album. KYE in comparison to most of the other songs probably didn't take as much time or effort to write. I still enjoy KYE quite a lot, more than most people I think. I think it does add something different to the album that you don't see from the other tracks but it's definitely one of the lesser tracks on the album imo and I think being played 398 times (according to setlist.fm) is more than enough

It might be. Lollapalooza in the US is 115K and I think Rock am Ring in Europe is 85K Wembley in 2010 was 80K but I don't think it sold out
