I’m positive that song will not stick past this tour. I almost think they were asked to cover a popular song during the tour because they did release it as a single.

A Dookie/AI level hit would probably be one that nowadays would hit 100 million streams on spotify in the first couple months and make it to the top 50 on the Billboard Hot 100. The odds of that happening for Green Day are essentially zero. Since 21 Guns, the only track to make the Hot 100 was Oh Love which peaked at 97 while Bang Bang reached no. 4 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart (meaning it hit no. 104). Their most streamed songs of the 2010's are Still Breathing and Bang Bang which are on 92 million and 77 million respectively. A Dookie/AI level single would need to be far more successful than these two. When it comes to a new album, the only real commercial success to be expected is the album debuting in the top 5 on the Billboard 200 and a couple singles reaching no. 1 on the rock charts but hitting the mainstream charts? Revolution Radio debuted at no. 1 on the Billboard 200, FOAMF at no. 4. I think the new album could debut at no. 1 if there's enough excitement for it, I think a more AI sounding album is more likely to do so than an album that sounds more like FOAMF I think when it comes to Green Day charting positions, they get a lot of airplay on the radio but they don't get streamed or sold enough to actually chart on the mainstream charts like the Hot 100. The only way I can see them having a huge single is if they collaborate with a more mainstream artist.

I choose Pollyanna over Rock‘n‘Roll all nite. I‘m not a big Kiss Fan. I hope for the upcoming tour (hopefully in 2023) they play longer sets again and bring more deep cuts and change a few more songs every night. At least 2 hours 😂

Good chance Pollyanna doesn't make the cut either. There are some Superhits I wouldn't hate seeing them retire as well (WICA, Brain Stew) but the odds of that seem low.

They won’t do another big tour until the next summer so they don’t need to rush this… it can come out next spring or next fall depending on the tour schedule. Also if they care about preventing burnout, they won’t go into album promo right after the end of this tour. And tbh that’s fine, I get no fun out of watching them looking miserable.

I'm willing to put $100,000 on that they wont. But out of curiosity what is the quantifiable target? Are we talking RIAA certification or chart position?

The new songs will need to fit into the live show, that's something that they haven't done well since the trilogy. 21cb and the trilogy had loads of songs that could fit into their setlist seamlessly. Rev Rad had a few. Foam had none. What's great is their set is somewhat diverse between their newer classic rock sound and their old punk sound. I'd love to see them add 5 new songs to their set that has that newer sound, older sound and something in between. It would be nice to see those 21cb and Trilogy songs added into the setlist too. The trilogy gets no love on the setlist at all.

Or October 19 because that's the 13th anniversary of East Jesus Nowhere's single. Or October 15th because that's the 10th anniversary of Stray Heart

I’m losing my mind over this and I need someone who understands finance to explain to me how this works as a business. Is it a tax thing? As in if you have a business that makes a big profit, let’s say Green Day, you pay a lot of taxes right but when you start a small company that sells idk overpriced coffee and some merch and records, it can break even or it doesn’t even have to and more stays in your pocket? You know, that trick where a corporation starts a subsidiary that doesn’t generate revenue, but they can put it down as an expense to lower the tax base?

Today is the 10th anniversary of the Let Yourself Go single!!! And the 25th will be the 10th anniversary of ¡UNO!, so if they don’t do anything special for it then, do you think we’ll get some 1972 news?

Seeing Green Day live cleanses my soul. If you’re a fan there’s nothing like it. Becoming one with the crowd, all singing along, jumping and screaming your head off. Seeing them in person and being that close to them. Hearing them perform the songs that are so good on the records but being there in the moment and hearing them play is just… perfect. I love waiting in line with fellow fans before the show, making new friends. There’s an electricity in the air. I always leave with my voice hoarse, very sweaty, and very happy to be alive. And then sleep the best nights sleep. I feel lighter for weeks afterwards. Would recommend
