  1. I was with him til he started just plain lying. I have no problem with FOAM being Billie’s vision, nobody hits gold 100% but the later part of what he says is just nuts.

  2. Absolutely! I saw them live this year and they were amazing. They always put on a great show and Billie is a brilliant frontman always engaging with the audience and making it an interactive experience. Their ticket prices are also very reasonable for a band of their status. If you get a chance to see them live go for it.

  3. Wish I could go to this but fuck Livepass for not letting non-Argertinians with Visa and Mastercard buying the ticket (even though it was advertised those would be the only options for foreigners) 😡 I'm still hella mega mad about this

  5. Seeing Green Day live is the ultimate high. They are undoubtedly the best live band on this planet. The AI tour set at Milton Keynes was awesome. As well as the memory, I can relive some of it over and over thanks to Bullet in the Bible. I've several DVD's of live shows but you can't substitute being there. If you can afford it go for it, you'll never regret it. The only worry is the rising ticket costs. There was a discussion on another topic few days ago. I'm concerned real fans are gonna be priced out.

  6. His evidence is wishful thinking. "If I say something enough times, I'm bound to be right eventually" is what he's thinking

  7. Yeah! two weeks, baby! It will be awesome to be at a Green Day concert again! Wishing for a change in the setlist, though

  14. Every music fan should see Green Day live at least once in their lifetime. It’s a unique experience and hella fun.

  15. I know he can’t just go “oh yeah so this was a huge project I did and it flopped” but he sounds absolutely delusional

  16. Prior to recording, Green Day rented rehearsal space in Oakland. Armstrong invited Cavallo to attend the sessions and help guide their writing processes. Cavallo encouraged the idea of a concept album, recalling a conversation the two had a decade prior, in which Armstrong expressed his desire for their career to have a "Beatles-like arc to their creativity." During the sessions at Studio 880, Green Day spent their days writing material and would stay up late, drinking and discussing music. The band set up a pirate radio station from which it would broadcast jam sessions, along with occasional prank calls. The band demoed the album sufficiently so that it would be completely written and sequenced before they went to record. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Idiot

  17. “I was stoked because obviously, it was their most successful record since American Idiot, in a time where you can’t follow that, you can’t follow a “lightning in a bottle” moment where a band sells 10 million plus on a record. Everybody’s waiting for you to top it and you just can’t. I’m not even saying sales-wise, sales don’t even exist anymore, so that’s not a factor, it’s more just radio hits.” Is he being sarcastic? I never heard these songs on the radio. Yeah some singles charted but the rock charts are thin and they did nothing compared to the singles of RevRad and Oh Love was Billboard Hot 100. Also he’s including 21CB?? That won a Grammy and had two huge singles? He’s full of shit. “But we did it on our own terms, and we did it without a label, and we did it without anyone in our way.” Again he’s insane. Without a label? It was their last album under an old contract with Warner. They couldn’t shut up about that in the interviews. Haha he pulled the same shit with Weezer’s Pacific Daydream, another pop album hated by the fans. It’s almost word for word the same excuse: “Again, I was trying to let an artist do what their vision is and what they want to do, as opposed to trying to come in with a seasoned band like that and tell them how they should sound. Everybody is trying to get into the studio and remake Pinkerton, everyone. I know plenty of those people and I know plenty of times it’s been attempted. Again, lightning in a bottle, you can’t do it.” “But the fans who are fucking awful will just hate everything they do if they don’t try to do Pinkerton, which is very narrow-minded and one-sided, but also, again, here we go, don’t shoot the fucking producer! Because I do what the artist wants me to do for them. Whether or not they think that’s true or not is on them”

  18. A sold out show in Argentina...this will be insane

  19. Keep in mind, as a producer, this is the ugly side, where longtime fans of a band hear that they want to “broaden their horizons” and do something different, and the first thing they do is shoot the producer. They hate the producer because the formula for their Coca-Cola got changed and they are very mad because of a band wanting to do something different. To Green Day’s credit, this vision was Billie’s. This was his vision. It wasn’t like I came in and said “let’s change it all up, let’s make a ’70s glam throwback record.” Why is he so defensive 😭 He also says FOAM had 5 songs that charted and was their most successful record since AI??? Sounds like he lives in some paralel reality

  22. In comparison to other music acts I don‘t think that GD tickets were that expensive. I think that we have stricter regulations of price politics in the EU than in other countries.

  23. Yep, Drama Queen was originally on Dos and Stray heart was on Tre, but just before they pressed Tre onto vinyl they decided to put Drama queen on Tre and Stray Heart on Dos so Stray Heart was never pressed onto vinyl.

  24. Was that when people were speculating it was Stray Heart because wasn’t that left off the vinyl version of Dos or something? Two live trilogy songs would make me so happy.

  25. They've been talking about it for months now so hopefully its something interesting. In the email they sent out in March they said one of the songs on the 7" has never been pressed on vinyl.

  30. I couldn't find a thread for this show. Apologies if I've missed it

  31. He’s starting from the presumption that a single will be out in October and using that as the basis for his belief that the single will be out in October. That plus the random fact that HLAHG came out in October which was a docufilm not a single or an album. Odd reasoning. The single could just as easily drop 2-3 months before any album release date and we have no idea when that will be. Personally, I would love for him to be right because I want to hear a new song live in Austin.

  33. Yes, when I attended the RevRad show for GA, we were able to get barricade. I recall the VIP line being shockingly small - around 25 people? It also couldn't have been much more than $100 - I can't find the email though. That being said, a friend brought up the possibility of going since they're originally from the area and I may have had my interest peaked. I'd be more tempted if single day passes were offered.

  34. Usually demos aren’t recorded perfectly though and are just a ton of rough ideas, and they recorded AI in order as if it was going to be the actual album with Chris dugan

  44. AI was actually recorded twice and was def the most preproduction they ever had done at the time, (eventually topped by 21CB) - they did the whole thing at Jingletown and then did the whole thing again at Ocean Way

  46. Figured some people would get a kick out of my Hella Mega story here. So, way back in 2020 I happened to win tickets from my local radio station. I wasn't even going to go if I hadn't won them because meh, big arena shows but since I won them I figured I might as well go. I figured they would be good tickets, maybe not up front but like pretty good seats. Well, last September finally rolls around after it got postponed and we show up and buy the preferred parking pass for the show so we could not be stuck in as much traffic getting out. I bring this up because we saw some people walking around outside with these yellow wristbands on and just for the hell of it we decided to fashion some fake wristbands out of strips of the parking pass and duct tape just to see if maybe it could get us backstage or vip or something. Anyways, I go and grab my tickets from the box office and we head inside. We find our seats and they're like as far away as you can get. So we figured, screw it let's go see if we can find some empty seats that are closer that we can sneak into. So we find some and we start looking at the GA pit area who are all wearing these bright yellow wristbands and notice that security isn't really paying attention, they're just looking to see if you've got the wristband or not. We look at the fake ones that we made just by accident and notice that the color is pretty close and if they aren't paying attention, we might just be able to sneak past. Long story short, we used the fake wristbands we made to sneak into the GA pit area. So in essence I got GA pit tickets for free!
