  1. I should be posting this in the Fangirls thread, but Billie's voice always kicks me right in the feels whenever new Green Day music is released. Holding off the vocals until the proper release is fine by me.

  2. That’s some proper fangirling right there. I get this ☺️

  3. I think/desperately hope Crush have realised that they can't treat Green Day like Weezer and Fall Out Boy and expect fans to like it

  4. Agreed. If 1972 is a repeat of foam era I'm going to cry. I have a feeling it won't though

  5. It was the mix of their team desperately trying to make them look hip and the band seemingly less than confident about their new music… I wish the spray tan never happened, that was the lowest point i hope Crush got a lesson from that and this ride doesn’t repeat again when 1972 promo comes

  6. I think the FOAM album itself was just ok, but something about that era was so cringe. The spray tan was the cherry on top lol Edit: Oh shit, is my avatar pic from the FOAM era? Just realized it might be Oh well, he still looks good

  7. Something about that way of singing really fit with his spray tan. And I say that as someone who actually liked FOAM.

  9. Yeah I've seen at least a couple pictures of him with a cigarette over the last few years. I think the last time was backstage in Seville (at the awards) . I know all three of them used to smoke (there's a photo in Bowling Bowling Bowling Parking where they have their ciggies (Marlborough) with them). Here's the photo. Actually Billie isn't smoking on it and there's no Marlborough but...

  10. During yesterdays Match of the Day they used Father of All (the song) as a clip of music.

  11. plus he’s mentioned having asthma, that can have an influence too (and doesn’t mix well with smoking at all)

  13. OMG are they in gakuran? (Japanese old-school boys school uniforms) They all look amazing, especially Tre!

  14. The exposed vocals tracks are another example of this. Gives me goosebumps I don't think anyone really knows for sure. From someone who hasn't been able to stop smoking myself when I see Billie smoking he looks like at some point he's been "serious smoker". Also if you're trying not to drink it's a good idea not to try to stop both together or you could be setting yourself up for a fall. It always surprises me when I see Mike with a cigarette these days

  15. John Roecker: "My friend Doug Mckean passed away and I wanted to share footage i shot of him during the American Idiot sessions. Doug was instrumental on creating two of the most influential albums of the 21st Century A.I. And The Black Parade by My Chemical Romance. But beyond that he was a husband, a father and a great friend. Rest in Peace Doug."

  18. Oh yeah forgot about that They did. Just three songs though I think after one of the trilogy pre shows they burst into a surprise GD set but someone else would need to confirm that They played some rareties at Rough Trade in 2016 too

  19. Foxboro Hot Tubs opened as well in Manchester 2009 I think

  20. I watched the full video that had been pieced together of this show the other night. Billie sounded great. When was the last time (question for the people who follow setlists) Green Day played a show with this many rareties? Costa Rica? I know that was the longest at just over four hours and then there was the Warfield show when the Network opened for them. Have there been any other examples of it? I think there are some but my memory isn't what it used to be

  21. Yes, it‘s just the trailer for the masterclass which ist about 90 minutes. I thought I just post it in the Random News Thread since here are some members which are into music production so maybe there are some members with a subscription.

  23. I don't think we'll be hearing vocals in any teasers. I remember reading an interview during the 21CB sessions and Billie said he keeps his lyrics closely guarded, even from Mike and Tré, early on in the process

  24. and remember during Rev Rad he was talking about prednisone during invertivews...could be for his asthma or vocal chord inflammation.

  27. Right?! She’s funny, insightful and very vulnerable in her writing. It’s pretty simple and straighforward but clever and emotionally impactful. I’ve been a fan for years, but I think Stay Alive and Silverfish are really where she shines as a poet. (Or I don’t know, maybe listening to these albums just reignited the huge crush I have and they’ve been relatable to me.) Her solo show was incredibly moving as well. I think Laura doesn’t get the recognition she deserves as an artist. Coincidentally, I think on these recent albums she touches on similar topics BJA keeps coming back to. There’s a lot about loneliness, feeling lost in life and looking for something to hold onto.

  28. He seems to have vocally bumpier periods and other times he’s very solid. There could be other factors than just training and lack thereof. Vocal cords can easily become strained etc

  29. When he first played the Careless Whisper thing in January 2017 it was cool and relevant because of the timing but I agree that now the moment for that has been and gone

  30. Maybe they can even sample Billie Holiday and make the ultimate Billie song! Ok, I'll stop now

  31. I really thought they were going there with all the stuff they did together for a while, the interview and photoshoot, meeting backstage and the “two Billies” joke at the (I think) AMAs red carpet. A collab would be cool.

  32. I'd be interested to hear a song featuring the Billies (Joe and Eilish). She ventured into rock in "Happier Than Ever" the song so I think it could work well. And I believe marketing would be great with both having the same name.

  33. I wonder if Billie did any vocal training in the lead up to this? With some of The Network stuff his voice still clearly has the potential to sound as good as it has in the past, and since it seems like they're taking this one more seriously I'm thinking maybe that little extra effort could easily have been put in -- Have we still not had any teasers with actual lead vocal lines?

  34. More of a random GDC thought, but anytime I see a mod's name in the recently browsing part of a thread, I automatically think it means we must have done something wrong.

  35. with the album title being possibly 1972, do you guys think they take a more "(deep) personal" approach with the new lp? foam was about "having fun" or whatever they wanted to achieve with it 😅 the world became a total shit-place, so i wouldnt mind if they write an album about their life

  36. My predictions (not that I’ve got much right but it won’t stop me from making predictions): 1st single in November, album in March, 13 songs on album.

  38. Agreed. Regardless of any of the band member's ages, if they're going to call the album 1972 and it's going to be released when they want it to be released, then it's going to be called 1972 and it'll release when they want it released. I don't see what or why them apparently needing to be 50 at the time of release has to do with anything. If they want it to be a celebration of being 50, then they can simply say that the majority of the album was written and recorded while they were 50 and it's still a celebration of it.

  39. I love Christian's Inferno, but hating it isn't an unpopular opinion. This live performance was amazing

  40. I love Pinhead Gunpowder, but it did take awhile for me to appreciate them. I think the 2010 dress show is my most rewatched GD related show. Favorites are everything off the 2008 ep and Second Street. ETA also Landlords, Life During Wartime, At Your Funeral, and MPLS Song.
