I definitely consider FF to be a rock band. I wouldn't consider them to be light rock at all.. Maybe if we're comparing them to something like death metal, then yeah... but nah. They're definitely a rock band in my book. It's 100% not going to die as a genre, it has far too passionate of an audience for that. I agree that it's just going continue becoming more niche.. but deep down I do hope to see it make a big comeback in popularity one day. Something I like to see is that many artists who are more known in other genres seem to be giving it some love now. Calling it now, announcement when page count reaches 1972. Let's GOOOO!

Wait are you saying FF are on the light side of rock? Like have you listened to most of FF's stuff? Regarding the grammys, if they're going to continue to not air the rock awards, I'm just not gonna care about them at all. The only grammys Green Day has a chance to win at this point are in the rock category, they're not going to win album/song of the year or anything.

I'm curious if the old footage they're posting on TikTok is related to this at all. With that plus the whole "1972" thing, it seems we might get something that is reflective of their whole career. I don't know what shape that would take, but have to imagine the two things are related. Oh, and the "2,000 Light Years Away" AI-driven stem creation thing.

It pains me that mainstream considers Imagine Dragons peak rock these days.

FF isn't rock? Well pinch me. Coldplay definitively isn't.

I like to think the song would take a darker turn if it went longer.... Something really snarling and mean with a ton of obscenity and the actual words "good riddance".

It’s a pity that it didn’t work out. I like the idea. Would be awesome if Green Day did something like Elvis with alternating lots of songs. Or they could let people vote what songs they want to hear. Metallica has done shows like that, Rancid too. One band did that at the festival where I saw Green Day this year as well. It’s pretty easy to do on social media.

Elvis Costello just announced a thing that I wish Green Day would do. He’s doing ten shows at the Gramercy Theater in New York. Before each show he’ll release half the setlist and the rest will be a surprise but that night’s reveal will be a clue to what type of show that night will be. He won’t play the same song twice so he’s doing 200 songs in ten days. There will be discounts for multiple nights. Now what fan wouldn’t love that? If Green Day did this, fans would go to every show. Funny related note is Weezer had a five night residency on Broadway planned for September, and they just had to cancel it for low ticket sales. The ticket prices were outrageous and fans couldn’t afford multiple nights plus travel and hotels. They were going to do a night each dedicated to a different SZNZ EP and a fifth night of hits, but it seems that wasn’t enough of a draw to fill each night. Maybe they should have done it somewhere other than a Broadway theater like Elvis doing. But I would love for Green Day to get creative with their touring and do something really special like this. If they sell out a small venue in minutes, they could do a week or more of shows at a small venue and allow more people to get tickets.

Doesn‘t matter when it will be released but I‘m really looking forward to the official announcement and the first release and to discussing the new songs here with all of you ❤️ In my opinion, there isn‘t a single „bad“ GD album, every album has its own aspects that can be loved, so I‘m just happy that there will be some new GD songs sooner or later

So what if she is? That's getting more and more common nowadays because rent is skyrocketing and wages are stagnant. It's almost impossible to get by on your own anymore. Everyone is either forced to get a bunch of house/roommates or move back in with their parents just to survive. Don't make fun of that. I'm in the same boat and I know plenty of other people who are as well. Besides, you don't even know her living situation. Maybe she's visiting. Maybe mom's visiting her. Don't make assumptions either. Anyway I think my favorite moment from what I saw last night was when Tré ran down onto the stage to give Billie a big kiss on the cheek during JoS. That was so sweet!

One of the things I love about that video where Mike kisses Billie, is the way Billie looks to his right for Mike and when he’s not there he’s looking round for him like “where is he, where’s Mike, there he is”, it’s all so clear on his face ❤️❤️
