  1. I still think we're getting a documentary out of this!!! The production quality of the teasers is just to good to just be something recorded on someone's phone!!! Another TikTok!!! From Billie’s birthday, which was in February, so why are they sharing this now? Because it’s probably a clip from the documentary!!! https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTdtc7N1B/?k=1

  2. Their last SEVEN records are being ignored on stage, which is over half their catalogue. I understand it, but I'm just a weirdo who wants Too Dumb To Die and The Saints Are Coming instead of Longview and Basketcase which are both nearing their 1000 performance. Those two probably can't be cut, else risking world war zero. But some others could....knowledge. dearly beloved, stop with the not knowing stuff already. Know Your Enemy is a hit that nobody seems to like, it could go in favor of another lesser played hit. Paper Lanterns and Going to P-town can be traded for other older songs. Guys, they aren't deep cuts if you play them more than 10+ of your mega hits.

  3. If there's just one single song on this album that's on the level of Letterbomb then I'll die happy

  4. Maybe 1972 is the documentary, and they're just making the record for themselves and not releasing it.

  8. Kerplunk remastered + 1972 record + 1972 documentary… I can see a story of band celebration here. I also wonder if the quite long time they are spending in the studio is because they have been recording both the new album and the Kerplunk tracks.

  9. If they are making a doc then they A. Gotta lotta faith this album will do well or/and B. They are passionate as hell about it I'm not super convinced but you might be onto something

  10. I'm just watching David Letterman's My Next Guest Needs no Introduction where he interviews Billie Eilish (it's a new season of the show on Netflix) and she mentions she loves Green Day. David's response: "Green Day (laugh)! They used to be on our show and I was scared silly of the drummer." Billie Eilish: "You were?" (Laughing) David: "Yeah. Because at the end of every song the drummer would, like, throw his drums everywhere and come running over like he was going to choke me out. And I would have to go racing away. But I admired the energy of that. I thought 'sure, why not this?'" Billie: "I love Green Day" And that's how you make an impression that's gonna last forever, kids! 😂

  11. Just listened to FOAM in full for the first time in months yesterday. It's honestly better than I remembered it being and wouldn't classify it as their worst work necessarily. Yeah, it's way too short and has questionable production and choices but I still find it a slightly better listen through than 39/Smooth, or Dos, hell maybe even Kerplunk (production quality on 39/Smooth and Kerplunk put them lower on the list for me). I think a big part of what dragged the album down was the expectations coming off RevRad which was a return to form for the band in a way. After 4 years they came back very different with a mid-life crisis album. It's a dumb fun album for the most part. With that said, I admit to being one of those fans that has absolutely loved every album they have put out. Whatever 1972 ends up sounding like and whenever we get something for it, I'm sure it will be great as long as their hearts are in the music and they are making what they truly want to. It already seems to be shaping up to be something special for them from the teasers.

  12. Interesting little thread I found on twitter. tl;dr, Halsey's record company and apparently many others don't let artists release anything unless they market it + it gets viral on tiktok. Could explain why Green Day is just making tiktoks these days and not crossposting to IG or twitter.

  13. I've noticed that almost all the more modern Green Day songs with vocal "harmony" are just Billie's voice layered on top of itself (or it sounds like it). I love his voice and I think that's great, but I really miss his true harmonies with Mike, where Billie sings the melody and Mike does the harmony. That really can't be beat. Songs that come to mind for an example are Word's I Might Have Ate and Haushinka. Such beautiful harmonies in those! I hope they'll give that a try again.

  14. All of the Late Show Tré appearances are absolutely priceless! I love the one where he falls off his drum kit or something and Letterman is like "Are you okay, son?"

  17. To be fair, with the exception of Pollyanna they only played their greatest hits on the tour and the only reason they played Pollyanna was probably just because of the meaning of the song and how people were relating to it due to the pandemic etc. I mean, would they have played Holy Toledo live if they released that song at that time instead of Pollyanna

  22. My son was playing with his xylophone early today and I just came across it and figured I'd give it a shot. When I Come Around is super easy to play on guitar, so I've been translating that to xylophone language and while I'm still terrible after several minutes of playing, it's starting to sound like Green Day. Woo hoo! Duh nuh / nuh nuh / nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh

  24. Honestly the hand claps and the falsetto were the least of my issues with FOAM. I think its hilarious how some folks fixate on that as the major issue with the project. No.

  25. Somehow, Green Day managed to keep me in love with them from 2008, when I first heard Nimrod and everything else. Can they keep it that way with the next album? I am very excited of what's coming next (I suppose this year!), because every album had a theme. This theme feels somewhat different from others, more wholesome and grand, but can they pull it off? I think that they can, and the fact that the production takes some time doesn't hurt either, right? It means they're invested in it. I just believed in Green Day, and everytime it paid off, so, I'm seeing them in Paris on July, then who knows, maybe we will get another gem?

  26. I love the claps! They were great on Love is for Losers and I liked them on Father of All as well. A screenshot of Tre clapping is one of the only things I've seen from this promo and I was glad to see it

  27. And the Green Day logo could look something like this, unless of course they stick with the simple typeface seen in the 1st teaser https://www.fontspace.com/bailamore-fpu-font-f63286

  33. 1972 just SOUNDS green, and as I ponder album art direction, I think we're getting a green-centric design this time. There does seem to be at least one slower song, so that's a HUGE positive in my book. And now since I've said enough other things to allow me to do so, here's a big ole fake tracklist made up other from other Green Day songs like they did on Rev Rad. That was awesome and they should definitely do it again, just like this: 1. White Trash Mannequin 2. The President GasMan 3. Broken Glass 4. English Math and Science 5. Urge To Binge and Surge With Gloria % (Sister of Grace) 6. Looking For Payback 7. Stated Clear 8. Social Sect 9. Shut Your Mouth 10. Holiest of Holes 11. BMXecelent, Mr. Burns. 12. A Sad Song 13. When You Got No Place to Go 14. BONUS TRACK: Big SOB

  34. I've had sort of a change in thought when it comes to them and FOAM. I think they did care about the album, I think their heart was in it. They just didn't do a good job. They sort of embraced these new personas, but I think it was because they were having FUN. As for why they don't perform the songs live, I do remember Billie struggling vocally through some of the FOAM songs when they performed them live. I remember cringing when they played Oh Yeah live because it always sounded like he was struggling in some way. With their age and playing concerts every other day, I imagine he cut those difficult songs. Same reason why I think they cut Still Breathing later on in the tour. And lastly, I don't think their newer songs will ever get the same play time as their older classics. We talk about FOAM not getting any songs played, but I think the last few shows didn't even have songs played from Rev Rad.

  40. Sammy Hagar commented on Tré's photo that he didin't know they were so far into recording. Handcaps are a final detail added in the song, so they ar probably finishing everything

  43. Can't believe I'm seeing the guys today in two weeks in Berlin, it's been so long😭 It feels like the first ray of warm sunlight after a long, long thunderstorm. My dad died some months ago and I haven't been able to feel happy about anything ever since. Now I'm starting to look forward to this show and I know my dad will be there with me❤️

  44. Possibly a theory could be drawn that thanks to Good Riddance, the Warning album was born and they wanted to take a test that maybe they would be successful on the album, which was not successful. So maybe the origin of Warning is due to these two songs: Good Riddance and Redundant (Future Disc Systems Remix).
