  1. It's been for real since December 😔

  2. Just listened to FOAM in full for the first time in months yesterday. It's honestly better than I remembered it being and wouldn't classify it as their worst work necessarily. Yeah, it's way too short and has questionable production and choices but I still find it a slightly better listen through than 39/Smooth, or Dos, hell maybe even Kerplunk (production quality on 39/Smooth and Kerplunk put them lower on the list for me). I think a big part of what dragged the album down was the expectations coming off RevRad which was a return to form for the band in a way. After 4 years they came back very different with a mid-life crisis album. It's a dumb fun album for the most part. With that said, I admit to being one of those fans that has absolutely loved every album they have put out. Whatever 1972 ends up sounding like and whenever we get something for it, I'm sure it will be great as long as their hearts are in the music and they are making what they truly want to. It already seems to be shaping up to be something special for them from the teasers.

  3. Also, judging by the teasers, they seem extremely proud of this one. With FOAM, their priorities seemed to be 95% geared towards Hella Mega

  4. I honestly feel like their heart wasn't in FOAM just for the reason being they made this new album and didn't play a single song from it during Hella Mega. 1972 seems to be a much bigger deal to the guys with the constant snippets of behind the scenes of putting this album together. I'd be lying if I said my expectations aren't sky high for this new record.

  5. Honestly the hand claps and the falsetto were the least of my issues with FOAM. I think its hilarious how some folks fixate on that as the major issue with the project. No.

  6. Wasn't this posted a couple days ago?

  7. They really have been posting a lot this week on TikTok!!! And with the tour resuming in 2 weeks, I really think we'll be getting an announcement any day now!!!!! I really think it's for real this time!!! Because when the teasers started, they would just post one and leave us hanging for a few weeks before the next one, and now they're posting almost every day!!!

  10. I've had sort of a change in thought when it comes to them and FOAM. I think they did care about the album, I think their heart was in it. They just didn't do a good job. They sort of embraced these new personas, but I think it was because they were having FUN. As for why they don't perform the songs live, I do remember Billie struggling vocally through some of the FOAM songs when they performed them live. I remember cringing when they played Oh Yeah live because it always sounded like he was struggling in some way. With their age and playing concerts every other day, I imagine he cut those difficult songs. Same reason why I think they cut Still Breathing later on in the tour. And lastly, I don't think their newer songs will ever get the same play time as their older classics. We talk about FOAM not getting any songs played, but I think the last few shows didn't even have songs played from Rev Rad.

  12. Somehow, Green Day managed to keep me in love with them from 2008, when I first heard Nimrod and everything else. Can they keep it that way with the next album? I am very excited of what's coming next (I suppose this year!), because every album had a theme. This theme feels somewhat different from others, more wholesome and grand, but can they pull it off? I think that they can, and the fact that the production takes some time doesn't hurt either, right? It means they're invested in it. I just believed in Green Day, and everytime it paid off, so, I'm seeing them in Paris on July, then who knows, maybe we will get another gem?

  13. Maybe the delay is to add more falsettos on the record 😂 I can see the interviews something like: "y'know, the album was done but we feel that it needed more hand claps and falsettos, y'know unicorns and staff like that. We feel it boring without those things but now I could say this album is great, not as much as the trilogy or the longshot staff but is great"

  14. Already I know this sounds much better than FOAMF. FOAMF will always be a puzzle to me This album sounds like it's going to be somewhat different from what they've done before but without feeling out of place in their discography

  18. I don’t know if its ok to post this, but f**k it… I got my hands on the unreleased outtake Alison (Elvis Costello Cover) from the Nimrod Sessions. It is from a bootleg 7inch record, which unfortunately skips a bit. But it is definitely GD, as you can tell. Crazy to hear after 25 years. If it is ok w GDC I will rip the full song. I also will be posting an unreleased alternate unmastered remix of Redundant from 1998. No.. its not the Richard Dodd wide mix. I’m calling it the “Warning mix” since it is less distorted and more stripped down like Warning - the album. There is no second guitar, and the mix has more presence on the acoustic guitar, tambourine, and overdubs. It sounds less chunky and something that’d fit in more so on Warning rather than Nimrod. I imagine it was an early mix before it was finished - but why it is labeled as 1998 makes me curious as to why it was mixed like this after the album release…. More to come. 19. 1972 just SOUNDS green, and as I ponder album art direction, I think we're getting a green-centric design this time. There does seem to be at least one slower song, so that's a HUGE positive in my book. And now since I've said enough other things to allow me to do so, here's a big ole fake tracklist made up other from other Green Day songs like they did on Rev Rad. That was awesome and they should definitely do it again, just like this: 1. White Trash Mannequin 2. The President GasMan 3. Broken Glass 4. English Math and Science 5. Urge To Binge and Surge With Gloria % (Sister of Grace) 6. Looking For Payback 7. Stated Clear 8. Social Sect 9. Shut Your Mouth 10. Holiest of Holes 11. BMXecelent, Mr. Burns. 12. A Sad Song 13. When You Got No Place to Go 14. BONUS TRACK: Big SOB

  21. How much falsetto will be on the album, THAT is the question. I would be heartbroken if the clapping got scaled back, but high pitched Billie is a MUST. And he actually does it throughout the catalogoue, not just on the masterful FOAM.

  22. It's truly a classic at this point. I like Billie's more infrequent posting. It makes it more special when he does. I wouldn't want him to go radio silent again like he did before because I would miss him, but once in awhile works well. He's also looking very cute lately. Still going with that Nimdrod era vibe.

  23. Billie is totally embracing the Nimrod fashion again. He has that vibe in the TikTok videos too. I wonder if he'll keep that look for the new album era or go back to breautiful floof instead. We'll see I guess.

  27. I think I joined during the lead up to RevRad. But I was on a different account linked with my Facebook. When I came back for FOAM and, dare I say MOOTIK, for some reason it didn’t let me log in with Facebook so I made the new account

  35. I don't think the handclaps were ever Butch Walker but more a carry over from The Longshot. Sure I've seen a statistic somewhere for the number of handclaps either in one of the songs or the album I must be one of the few people that likes them

  39. As much as I miss his frequent posts, it is a lot of fun when he posts a random selfie with a simple message like "hello there" because it sends the fangirls in a tizzy

  41. Can't believe I'm seeing the guys today in two weeks in Berlin, it's been so long😭 It feels like the first ray of warm sunlight after a long, long thunderstorm. My dad died some months ago and I haven't been able to feel happy about anything ever since. Now I'm starting to look forward to this show and I know my dad will be there with me❤️

  47. Best way to hear the differences are to listen to it w headphones back to back w the album or single version. Whole song is an unmastered mix, missing 2nd distorted guitar, increased acoustic guitar, solo more present, no overdub distorted guitars in chorus's, outro/fade out is different (doesn't have the guitar vibrato last note, fades out with organ, and lacks the drumstick/bass hit in few seconds)

  48. This rules - thank you! Based on the Feb 98 date this seems like it was done to emphasize the acoustic + singer-songwriter elements of Redundant after Good Riddance's crazy success. Good Riddance was released as a single in early December 1997 and Redundant was released in late April 1998 so the timing fits. They probably wanted to try for a more unique sound. I assume this was rejected in favor of the Richard Dodd wide mix.
