Green Day has always been a very reactionary band. 1972 will certainly be informed by the response to FOAM, just like Rev Rad was informed by the response to the trilogy, and like Insomniac was informed by the response to Dookie. It's not necessarily a bad thing.

I am always stunned when people post such incredibly strong judgements about people we all, in reality, know so little about.

Wow, that is absolutely not okay! You have no idea what she does out of the public eye and it's deluded to think that you do. Besides which, she's an advocate of and participant in a lot of great causes so she is definitely NOT a "useless nothing". What you said is beyond inappropriate and completely gross.

I don’t know if its ok to post this, but f**k it… I got my hands on the unreleased outtake Alison (Elvis Costello Cover) from the Nimrod Sessions. It is from a bootleg 7inch record, which unfortunately skips a bit. But it is definitely GD, as you can tell. Crazy to hear after 25 years. If it is ok w GDC I will rip the full song. I also will be posting an unreleased alternate unmastered remix of Redundant from 1998. No.. its not the Richard Dodd wide mix. I’m calling it the “Warning mix” since it is less distorted and more stripped down like Warning - the album. There is no second guitar, and the mix has more presence on the acoustic guitar, tambourine, and overdubs. It sounds less chunky and something that’d fit in more so on Warning rather than Nimrod. I imagine it was an early mix before it was finished - but why it is labeled as 1998 makes me curious as to why it was mixed like this after the album release…. More to come. The reason people have said that about Brittney is because of stuff she posted on Instagram that was objectively shitty (dangerous anti vax/anti science propaganda during a pandemic, including from far right pages). You're just doing a lot of weird assuming about someone you don't know. But this thread isn't for trashing or discussing either of them, as has been pointed out many times now. This thread is for discussing Green Day Instagram photos, the only time they're relevant to it is if they post a Green Day related photo. Mike posting photos of Brittney isn't an excuse to trash her or to start trashing other GD wives in retaliation here. This bullshit doesn't belong on this forum.

Is this actually a bootleg? It's obviously not from Warner, but pressing only 20 copies makes me think someone in/around the band was making these as a gift (ala The Boo 7"). Seems like bootleggers would either press more copies and/or release it on CD if they were trying to make money. Since these songs weren't circulating AFAIK, there can't be THAT many people who had access to them. The fact that it was sold at Tower Records in SF also makes me think it was someone around the band. I have no proof, but the more I think about it the stranger the random bootleg angle seems. Not gonna lie, part of me is kind of concerned about all this. Like, yeah everything sounds good. But idk if this is just a "Well people didn't like FOAMF, I guess we need to do an AI type album now, we gotta get Rob back in here and do what people expect of us" kind of deal and if it is, my worry would be that this is damage control & they've not really been inspired to make an album like this I don't want Billie to think he can't make any album that has a Foxboro or trilogy kind of sound without everyone hating it and I don't want them to feel obligated to make another AI if they don't want to. Now I'm not saying that I think this is what's happening. It is very likely that they just want to make an album like this now. And I don't think the band has ever really cared about what other people think. But this is just something that I'm a bit concerned about. Especially since FOAM was only 2 years ago. I hope they're not rushing into anything

You’re right. I was just annoyed at seeing several comments about how much Britney sucks and nobody really saying it’s inappropriate. Adrienne has done shitty things for years but that’s not of any real concern. They’re not in the band. Nobody should be talking about anyone. Unfortunately no. It’s off topic anyway for this forum. It’s from years ago. I just remembered being disgusted with many of her tweets and Instagram posts.

Here comes the shock is a song I listen to almost every day. I don't love the lyrics, but I love the energy of the music. I feel like if the lyrics were a little better (less use of the word "baby"), and it had a chorus that wasn't just repeating the title of the song, it could have been a solid song

It’s like they got lost in a creative twillight zone where they go from making the trilogy to trying to come back to their 2000s era and it’s been repeating for the last 10 years… I still enjoy their recent music, but there’s something so sad about it, you know, it’s like something broke and it can’t come back together.

You could say the same thing about Rev Rad after the trilogy (minus Rob). Ultimately it comes down to whether you feel like it’s coming from a genuine place.

I would think that quarantine in 2020 gave Billie plenty of time to write new music

Big ballads and Mike Dirnt vocals on one track. That's the only items on my wishlist. I am a FOAM supporter, but it would have done it so much good to have one epic anthem on there. It sounds strange, but a 21 Guns right in the middle or toward the back end. Oh Yeah! Right now, I'm still in End of an Era denial. Just like the Trilogy and Rev Rad, the Foam era didn't get to live it's full promotional life. I am still waiting for a Teenage Teenager single and video I'll never get, just like Forever Now and a host of Trilogy singles. Maybe Green Day want to make sure 1972 isn't screwed up by anything. No family, health, drug, pandemic or war problems. They need a complete win, with 4-5 singles and a tour with no cancelations. It's been too long.

That’s not barf 🤮 the worst would be Adrienne and I am glad it wasn’t! She sucks the worst out of all the GD moms and wives. She doesn’t do anything but use the money and the fame and has nothing to show for herself. Did she ever try to live on her own??
