  4. So I was just listening to the trilogy and while reading along with the lyrics on genius, I noticed that there are some more interesting lyrics than I thought. I think because there are so many songs & lyrics on these albums that people think most of them are just meaningless filler but there's definitely interesting stuff in there that you won't notice if you're not really paying attention. Not to say the trilogy is a lyrical masterpiece, obviously it's not. But because there are so many lyrics there and there are some lyrics that are just... bad, a lot of people assume that all of it is bad

  5. I wonder if they will play something rare like She or Basketcase. Or if they have a particularly wild hair, LONGVIEW.

  6. Finally arrived at the festival after an epic 500 mile road trip and a very long Uber ride from my hotel. I'll be on Mike's side wearing a Cheap Trick shirt and an Oakland Coffee hat if anyone would like to say hi! EDIT: Scratch that, there's a VIP barrier in front of Mike's side -.- Jason's side it is!

  7. I love that like Homecoming it’s a song that they all wrote together it’s a big part of what makes those songs so unusual sounding and special

  8. Oh man. So many cool bands to see tomorrow and then GD at 9😎 this is gonna be fun

  9. I’ve never had a problem with the lyric quality if the trilogy I’ve never understood where this criticism came from. For every “bad” line people find, I can find ten good ones that are overlooked.

  10. Ah really? That's incredible! I knew about Homecoming and I think it's such an underrated gem, it's so cool to know that's the case with Misery too! Makes me hope we'll get a song like that off of 1972.

  12. Can I make a request that we not put Jason F's shit posts on here? It just seems like a waste. Never GD related.

  13. I understand the criticism but I don't really agree with it for the most part. I think when people say a certain song is bad lyrically, they usually mean there are 1 or 2 lines in the song or in one verse that they don't like and then they ignore the rest of the lyrics. There are lyrics that are pretty bad or generic, but I mean it's no worse than what I'd expect from a trilogy of albums Btw in my original comment, I accidentally said that most of the lyrics are meaningless filler when I meant to say that people think most of the lyrics are meaningless filler. I edited my original comment

  16. Kevin posted some video from the wings of UltraQ performing. I can’t imagine how excited Billie is playing the same day as his kid, it’s really sweet

  19. Misery is such a strange song, but Billie's vocals on it are just phenomenal and that's what makes it for me. Otherwise I wouldn't give it a second thought. Oh, and unrelated, I helped out a guy today at work who's name was Kevin Preston.

  21. I never thought it was planned out because Pat left in the middle of a major arena tour. That just doesn’t happen unless there’s some big unexpected shakeups and we know on that tour there were at least two (Glasgow and Madrid) and possibly others we don’t know about. The switch happened shortly after. I agree it was very surprising to read that they even considered managing themselves again but they must have felt the mishandling was so bad that they could have looked after themselves better. In the moment of stress I’m sure they thought that and I’m glad the lawyer talked them out of it. It’s never a good idea, even if they think they’ve learned a few things and have more resources since 1996. They do seem to have a desire to be as independent as possible it seems, they know the industry is so full of bloodsuckers a bad choice can really cost you and by now they do know a lot about the business themselves. But stick to the music and let the other professionals do their jobs.

  25. Misery is seriously my 2nd or 3rd favorite off of Warning because it's so strange! And you're right, Billie's vocals are amazing on it. Such a shame we'll never hear it live because of what makes it so unique!

  34. Ahah Matt said FOAM and we were all trying to find the acronym meaning. Then Billie Joe fucked up and wrote #FOAMF on Instagram and we all knew what was the MF at the end.

  37. I remember that photo being in teeny bopper magazines! I had a split Top of the Pops/Cartoon Network magazine with a similar photo in, although I wanted it for the Beyblade side and had no idea who Billie was at the time Those photos used to be everywhere but I rarely see them now.

  39. Hmm, wow I'd love to get my hands on that footage. I've already posted this in its own thread, but I feel like it belongs here too since it's such a labor of love with plenty of fangirl worthy moments. I must admit that while I was watching it back after the final edit to make sure everything looked good, I cried during the part with Billie and Rachel. He's just soooooo sweet and wonderful! 😭 This world doesn't deserve someone so kind and pure of heart. Someone actually commented on the video that at the part where Billie is breaking up a conflict in the pit, he was doing it to protect some little kids from getting hurt. That's something I did not know and it makes it that much sweeter!

  42. You are right. They were on the radio in the Uk and did this wild broadcast with Zane Low where they leaked so many tracks, hinted about the secret show, it was lots of fun.

  43. It was amazing! I remember it very fondly as one of the most exciting times to be a fan - they were larger than life touring the world, playing lots of surprise shows with so many new songs that we loved and they kept outdoing themselves with both the new stuff and deep cuts. They played incredibly long sets too… I don’t think any tour they’ve done since has been this exciting from the surprise element POV. At the time, It didn’t seem anyone noticed there was anything off with Billie (which is pretty wild in hindsight)… Knowing about it does kind of take away from the fun of it all, but I’m mostly just impressed he was able to pull all of that stuff off as well as he did. It would have been extremely taxing even for someone in a good shape.

  44. These are controversial takes, but I see your point. The early albums do suffer from low production value, while FOAM has so many little details to listen for, which makes it equally or even more enjoyable in its own right.

  45. Me: Billie brought his mum on stage about 2009/10. Dad: Did she stage dive?! Me (hysterical laughter): Clearly you don't know how old she is.

  47. You reminded me, our brand new events arena just opened when Covid hit so became our vaccine centre. I had two shots there so took the opportunity to snoop round dressing rooms etc in case GD ever make it this far north! Sounds slightly creepy now I think about it 😂😂

  48. It was like that for me when I got my first covid shots. They had a big vaccine clinic at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh where I saw Green Day on the RevRad tour. It was my first time back there since then and was all I could think about when I walked in.
