Genuinely wouldn't discount the idea of them actually avoiding teasers when this site is down. Fully believe that they post things and then watch and laugh at our every move

I thought it was probably a combination of the cancelled show and whoever made the decision not to tell the band about the acrobat being killed. I always thought, even if they had known and organisers and the police had decided they had to keep the festival going, at least they could have done things differently but they just carried on in ignorance which didn’t look great, could have been the final straw, who knows. Interesting article though, thanks for sharing @That Dude.

I never thought it was planned out because Pat left in the middle of a major arena tour. That just doesn’t happen unless there’s some big unexpected shakeups and we know on that tour there were at least two (Glasgow and Madrid) and possibly others we don’t know about. The switch happened shortly after. I agree it was very surprising to read that they even considered managing themselves again but they must have felt the mishandling was so bad that they could have looked after themselves better. In the moment of stress I’m sure they thought that and I’m glad the lawyer talked them out of it. It’s never a good idea, even if they think they’ve learned a few things and have more resources since 1996. They do seem to have a desire to be as independent as possible it seems, they know the industry is so full of bloodsuckers a bad choice can really cost you and by now they do know a lot about the business themselves. But stick to the music and let the other professionals do their jobs.

Hmm, wow I'd love to get my hands on that footage. I've already posted this in its own thread, but I feel like it belongs here too since it's such a labor of love with plenty of fangirl worthy moments. I must admit that while I was watching it back after the final edit to make sure everything looked good, I cried during the part with Billie and Rachel. He's just soooooo sweet and wonderful! 😭 This world doesn't deserve someone so kind and pure of heart. Someone actually commented on the video that at the part where Billie is breaking up a conflict in the pit, he was doing it to protect some little kids from getting hurt. That's something I did not know and it makes it that much sweeter!

Ahah Matt said FOAM and we were all trying to find the acronym meaning. Then Billie Joe fucked up and wrote #FOAMF on Instagram and we all knew what was the MF at the end.

I remember that photo being in teeny bopper magazines! I had a split Top of the Pops/Cartoon Network magazine with a similar photo in, although I wanted it for the Beyblade side and had no idea who Billie was at the time Those photos used to be everywhere but I rarely see them now.

I think that's pretty unlikely, unfortunately. Maybe if we got something on Billie's bday but we didn't. Would love to be wrong though because again, Mike's bday happens to coincide with the anniversary of a really tragic event in my family. Anything to distract me from that would be great!

I understand the criticism but I don't really agree with it for the most part. I think when people say a certain song is bad lyrically, they usually mean there are 1 or 2 lines in the song or in one verse that they don't like and then they ignore the rest of the lyrics. There are lyrics that are pretty bad or generic, but I mean it's no worse than what I'd expect from a trilogy of albums Btw in my original comment, I accidentally said that most of the lyrics are meaningless filler when I meant to say that people think most of the lyrics are meaningless filler. I edited my original comment

I’ve never had a problem with the lyric quality if the trilogy I’ve never understood where this criticism came from. For every “bad” line people find, I can find ten good ones that are overlooked.

So I was just listening to the trilogy and while reading along with the lyrics on genius, I noticed that there are some more interesting lyrics than I thought. I think because there are so many songs & lyrics on these albums that people think most of them are just meaningless filler but there's definitely interesting stuff in there that you won't notice if you're not really paying attention. Not to say the trilogy is a lyrical masterpiece, obviously it's not. But because there are so many lyrics there and there are some lyrics that are just... bad, a lot of people assume that all of it is bad

I will say that I can go back nearly a decade and vouch for Matt's hints, knowledge, and insight.

I remember you always used to give us hints. Like the Jesse Malin/Billie Joe Armstrong single. I think you said something like, "It's not exactly a Green Day single, but it's a single nonetheless." And weren't you the one who told us about the FOAM acronym before the title was revealed?

That's a very interesting article. I'm surprised they've sacked PM and only then started looking into other options. That makes it look like a less well planned action than it seemed previously. I'm also surprised they've considered self-managing after they've already tried that once and realized it didn't work out. It would require a lot of investment to create an in-house management team - hiring more lawyers, accountants, managers etc... And then they've settled for a company that got them a) sponsorships and licensing deals, b) a never ending festival run (low costs on their side) c) a package tour. Recouping losses? I'd really want to know how they were/are doing economically.

With all of the shows and festivals coming up, I have a hard time imagining the band won't want to have something new out within the next two months.

Anyone know who did the mixing for this broadcast? I suppose it could have been someone from MTV. I know that for the 2009 MTV worldstage one it was Chris Lorde-Alge and for AAF it was Chris Dugan. But who mixed this? I think whoever it was did a fairly decent job. It's a very high-energy mix and I certainly prefer it too AAF's one.
