  1. Just watched the footage of the secret show at Reading 2012. The Trilogy Promo Tour would have been so amazing if Billie‘s health was in better condition

  2. Happy Easter everyone!!! I hope we get some 1972 news in our Easter baskets today!!!

  3. Absolutely. Opening the set with WTP is also just badass, beats KYE any day. That said, I like how they played the odd 21CB song such as Murder City (or East Jesus during other gigs), they barely do that anymore. The most we can hope to hear from that album these days is KYE or 21 Guns. In a lot of ways a more stripped down high energy version of Green Day could have worked, it's just that both Billie's condition and the trilogy's overall execution did not quite allow for it. But watching this show I can certainly see what they were trying to do.

  4. It was amazing! I remember it very fondly as one of the most exciting times to be a fan - they were larger than life touring the world, playing lots of surprise shows with so many new songs that we loved and they kept outdoing themselves with both the new stuff and deep cuts. They played incredibly long sets too… I don’t think any tour they’ve done since has been this exciting from the surprise element POV. At the time, It didn’t seem anyone noticed there was anything off with Billie (which is pretty wild in hindsight)… Knowing about it does kind of take away from the fun of it all, but I’m mostly just impressed he was able to pull all of that stuff off as well as he did. It would have been extremely taxing even for someone in a good shape.

  5. 96 revolutions this morning! 96 revolutions this morning! 96 percent. Of all the weirdness on GDA, this phone battery status business has surprisingly surprised me the most. We're almost at the point where mods tell us to chill. But not yet - There is a return to 94 There is a return to 94, just plug it in.

  8. Reading random Green Day facts in hopes of finding some I didn't know. Here's the only two I haven't heard before: They are the youngest people inducted in the Rock N Roll hall of fame. All three guys have EAST BAY PUNK MAFIA tattoos.

  9. You are right. They were on the radio in the Uk and did this wild broadcast with Zane Low where they leaked so many tracks, hinted about the secret show, it was lots of fun.

  10. These are controversial takes, but I see your point. The early albums do suffer from low production value, while FOAM has so many little details to listen for, which makes it equally or even more enjoyable in its own right.

  13. Yesss. I got to play on stage with Green Day at their last show Innings on 3-19-2022 and I got to hug Billie twice🥰🥰🥰 it was so surreal a dream come true and the best feeling and moment EVER

  14. I was surprised more wasn’t made of that, it doesn’t really matter other than being admirable they were so young when they started and worthy of comment that they are still active.

  26. I feel like I have bad music tastes sometimes, and I definitely have some odd takes on Green Day. Best Song? - Saints Are Coming Father of All is better than Smooth, Kerplunk....it just might be a top 4 album.

  27. I've been binge listening the Redundant podcast and the guys have basically fanboys of everything Green Day have done....until Rev Rad. Holy Toledo, I haven't heard this kind of hate for RevRad anywhere. Haha.

  29. I think Tchad Blake was brought to GD by Butch Walker and Crush, so if Rob produces the album, maybe it will be a different mixing engineer. I also liked the mix of Andrew Scheps, RevRad sounded very balanced in comparison to FOAM

  33. The post doesn't say anything about mixing though. In fact, the caption reads #engineer. It also reads #recording, which I thought had been done in London already? I get that this is all wishful thinking in the end, because it also occured to me that if Doug is indeed on the team (which is not confirmed), then it's not so likely Dugan would be down to do assistent engineering (like for AI) and would probably prefer to do mixing instead, something that he has done for the band before. On the other hand, besides FOAM, Dugan has only ever mixed live records for Green Day (and the FBHT record). Given FOAM's reception, a position as engineer perhaps seems more likely, though that would probably mean that Doug McKean is not back as their engineer. Equally, Dugan not doing the mixing does not mean CLA is the one that will. To be honest, we're mostly grasping at straws here. The truth is, we just don't know much at this point.

  34. IF he’s mixing, it’s more likely not Green Day than it is Green Day - he has mixed like four other records in the last year. But he also hashtagged recording and engineer, and since he’s their recording engineer I’d say it’s more likely they’re recording with him than him mixing a final product

  35. I digress...when I saw that pic, I truly wished that Fink would do the Network live in that look. It would be difficult for Green Day, but The Network would fit the bill.

  36. I love people speculating on the sound of the album based off of Billie’s hair colour Never change, GDC
    1 point
  37. Maybe, but I think that may just be wishful thinking. I mean, it's amazing enough that Rob is back, but CLA being back too? Seems unlikely (can't have everything in this life). I'd looove more than anything to be proved wrong though. I mean it's a matter of preference, but here you can hear what Chris Lorde-Alge vs. Chris Dugan mixing sounds like. I think it's pretty clear which is superior. I mean imo Dugan's mix is just weird. Super punchy kick I guess, but not much else going for it. Another example (the quality of the AAF videos is obviously better, but the mix isn't)

  38. I'm not going to expect something too different to FOAMF Ik they'll likely shift gears a bit because FOAMF didn't work and I think they know that. But I'm not expecting something completely different. And also I don't want to get my hopes too high

  41. I've never met any of them, and probably never will. We waited outside the venue after the Longshot show but to no avail. I have this fantasy of meeting Billie and telling him how his music has shaped my life in such a significant way, and then showing him my Green Day tattoo... The reality is I'd probably just stand there like an idiot, say nothing to him, cry and/or vomit, and then kick myself for the rest of my life for ruining the opportunity haha.

  42. I can totally relate. I met Billie backstage at the nyc show for the longshot and I said hi to Adrienne and opened the door to the hangout room for her. talked to Bill Schneider told jeff the show was great. I'm still having moments of omg that really happened. I'm happy for you.

  43. Ah, yes. Hello. Copy-paste from last year. Time: UK Leg of the Rev-Rad tour last year. "I will (sadly) never be able to prove this but I just stood in the same room as Billie Joe, Mike, Tre, Jeff, Jeff, Jason and Sara and a few other Green Day posse. My wonderful father works at the Triumph branch at Hinckley, and as a surprise to me took me there and they were visiting to see the bikes as Mike and Tre both own one and this Triumph factory is the only one in England. Sadly, as immobile, was not able to go on the tour around the factory but they hung around reception for a while. But my dad did. He was accompanying a massive bald guy with tattoos covering his arm (Arturo the security dude now I know) talking to him about various projects and bikes. Tre was running around taking photos on all the bikes. Mike spoke to me briefly about his bikes. Tre said hi to me. I nearly died. Billie was tired. No photos were taken as they were about 2 hours late and had other things to do. So, again no proof but if you see Mike/Tre posting pictures about bikes, I guess that's proof enough. So happy! Bring on the rest of the tour!"
