I just read an article about how music streams and sales increase after Grammy wins. I would love to see GD winning a Grammy again, then they could get high chart positions again and the public recognition they deserve6 points

So maybe my original profile picture wasn't as bad as some of ya'll thought5 points

That's not that much. Compared to RevRad's streaming figures, it's very underwhelming and even though RR has had more time to gather these streams, it was released 4 years earlier to a smaller streaming market Over a year ago, I made a reddit post about how FOAM did commercially where I compared it to Green Day's other more recent albums in terms of streams, album sales, chart positions, metacritic scores & at this time, FOAMF was only gaining streams slightly faster than RevRad https://www.reddit.com/r/greenday/comments/mut1k5/father_of_all_was_an_absolute_commercial_failure/ 9 months ago, I made another reddit post about Green Day spotify streams where I noted the stream counts for every GD album song at 2 times and the gains each song/album made between those 2 time and at this time, RR was gaining streams at over 1.5x the rate that FOA was despite FOA being the more recent album. https://www.reddit.com/r/greenday/comments/ol346i/green_day_album_spotify_streams/ I've not done any other reddit posts on this topic since but I imagine if I were to do another one, Uno might be gaining more streams than FOA at this point5 points

I think the April Fool is that this is going to last all April. If so, I'm leaving GDC!3 points

So yeah we might have broken something.... Added to the list, but I mean fixing the profile upload has been on the list for over a year so I wouldn't hold your breath3 points

Miranda Lambert has entered the chat 😂 (Yes I know that wasn't on an album but still, their features are definitely questionable to say the least)3 points

The Foos won three Grammys this year. I think the rock field is wide open for 2023 it's a crime that Green Day haven't won anything since 2010 (even though we all know it's a joke and doesn't mean what it used to). Still, with 5 Grammys to the Foos' 15, something is unbalanced for our legendary band. I don't think they care about this stuff anymore, but it's hard not to be aware of it. Rock as a category is at its least competitive right now. With the Foos sadly sidelined and having just swept anyway, next year is theirs if they want it. They have to realize that as they're making what we hope will be a album that sounds like Green Day doing what they do best. They have it in the them to make another great album and win more Grammys, especially in these times where so few rock bands are competing. They should be competing heavily for that top spot right now. I hope they've still got that fire in them (and no, I refuse to say firing on all cylinders). If they are thinking of this and I sincerely hope so, this album needs to come out in 2022 to be eligible. Is there a cut off date for 2023 Grammys? I just remember the scene from HLAHG where Rob Cavallo is showing them a Grammy statue for inspiration as they record AI.3 points

Maybe Mike and Tre are done recording their parts and left and Billie stayed on for some post production work with Rob or he’s visiting with family.2 points

Just realised I never listened to HCTS all the way through, so I just listened now... and honestly, I don't get why y'all hate it so much. Like yeah the chorus is repetitive and boring, but it's not really a bad song. It's just a pretty standard GD song, nothing special but better than most of foamf and the trilogy tbh.2 points

Right! The most important thing now is streaming! I just checked FOAM on Spotify and it actually has millions of plays! The title track actually has over 31 million!!!2 points

Probably not but those don’t mean as much anymore, I’m surprised it’s even still a thing2 points

So that means unless 1972 comes out by September, they won’t be eligible for a 2023 Grammy (2024 if it comes out October 2022 or later)2 points

As the humanitarian crisis caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine continues to grow in urgency, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Saturday the “Stand Up for Ukraine” pledging summit, taking place on Saturday, April 9. The event aims to mobilize significant funding to help vulnerable civilians impacted by the conflict and to support refugees everywhere. Ahead of the summit, a global social media rally supported by Global Citizen will take place on Friday, April 8, in response to a new video from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in which he called on the international community to help people affected by the invasion. The rally will encourage citizens to call on governments, institutions, corporations, and individuals to donate to humanitarian efforts for Ukraine and refugees from conflicts worldwide, such as Yemen, South Sudan, and Afghanistan. Dozens of artists, entertainers, athletes, and advocates will join the rally, including Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye, Adam Durica, Aitana, Alanis Morissette, Alejandro Sanz, Alexandra Stan, Angélique Kidjo, Annie Lennox, Billie Eilish, Billy Joel, Celine Dion, Chris Isaak, Chris Rock, Demi Lovato, Elton John and David Furnish, FINNEAS, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, Gloria Steinem, Green Day, Herbert Grönemeyer, Hugh Jackman and Deborra-lee Furness, Igo, Jon Batiste, Jonas Brothers, Juanes, Kacey Musgraves, Katy Perry, Leon Bridges, Luke Combs, Madonna, Miley Cyrus, Mirai, Ozzy Osbourne, Pearl Jam, Pharrell Williams, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ryan Tedder, Sarsa, Shaquille O’Neal, Stevie Nicks, Stevie Wonder, Tame Impala, U2, Usher, Vito Bambino, and Young Leosia. That's how we're gonna censor Green Day from now on. Much like our profile pics have become Billie Joe, his f-bombs become beliebers. Imagine Kill the DJ... Or Platypus...1 point

This is still happening this Friday? Funny Green Day haven’t posted anything about it and there doesn’t seem to be any more details about when the artists are performing and where (I assume it will be some prerecorded segment for their YouTube channel)1 point

Anyone else wondering why on April 4th we still all have this profile picture? I'm beginning to wonder if this is gonna be a permanent thing Regarding the whole grammy thing, I don't really care at all at this point. I mean if they do win one or even just get nominated, then that's cool. But I think whether they get nominated will largely depend on when they release their album/singles. I think the main reason RevRad wasn't nominated is when it was released. By the time the grammies came along, everyone sort of forgot about it. FOA was released in a better time for the grammies I think but also was an album that wasn't very liked by most. Also, if they don't have a pretty big commercial single on this next album (like at least Still Breathing level), it's unlikely that they'll win anything. The only songs/albums that ever win these awards are big singles (or albums that contain these big singles). The actual quality of the songs have next to nothing to do with it. Also the fact that the rock categories aren't gonna air means that I care even less. I do hope that at some point, rock music in general makes a comeback at some point in the 2020's. It's really sad the state it's in right now commercially1 point

I haven't watched the awards since they removed the rock categories from airing during the show. I can understand smaller categories, but to relegate best rock album to the pre-show alongside best Christian album, best spoken word, best reggae, etc is ridiculous.1 point
-
Me too. I don't know why I care, maybe it's the reputation the Academy Awards still carry as the pinnacle of achievement and mainstream acceptance but I want them to win more because they deserve to. It's nice to see them get the recognition they deserve, when they deserve it.1 point

I agree but the Grammy’s make me slightly crazy. They seem so comfortable with some of their beloved acts who win so often regardless of quality and competition, yet I want GD to win more!1 point

That would be awesome, but I wouldn't want Travis to get them onto that production style he's doing on 10,000 pop punk albums that all sound alike. We don't need Green Day sounding like MGK, ya know? He's worse than Feldman. But yes, let's get some duel drumming.1 point
