  1. Recorded at Abbey Road Studios, Cavallo back on board, holy shit! Gentlemen you had my curiosity; now you have my attention.

  2. Don't get me wrong, I love Rob and am thrilled that he is likely coming back. BUT Butch Vig's production on 21CB was another level. I'd kill for that again.

  4. They really seem to be reacting to the response to the last album with these teases. After so much hand wringing over the sound and the production of FOAM, they’ve now had a teaser clip where they’re working out a song and they say “Oh Green Day!” like, to indicate a classic Green Day sound and now they tease that Rob Cavallo is in the room. They are signaling that this project will be the sound you know and love.

  5. I’m beyond excited both myself and for them because this has to be another career milestone moment for them to get to do this. They really want to cement themselves in history as the punk Beatles

  7. I mean, nothing's ever certain, but posing in front of Abbey Road Studios with the caption #1972 would be extremely suggestive of that being the case. There might be a definite London vibe going on with this record, though I'm not quite sure why?

  8. I love this forum, and the fact that we’ve started analysing bald men from the back made me laugh out loud 😂😂

  9. Yeah, Billie talks about it in this interview with Guitar World from 2012:

  11. I’d love for them to use Butch Vig as a producer again. Songs like restless heart syndrome and last night on earth are just so epic love that record

  12. They talk about that a bit in Cuatro. I wish we knew more about what happened. Hard to imagine them having any real conflict after the success and closeness they had during American Idiot (Rob gets credit for that album even happening and it changed their lives). I wonder if it was more like they just drifted apart after that when the band chose another producer for the follow up and it took some reaching out to get him to want to join again for the Trilogy. So for about seven years they may have just lost touch. It always makes me feel good to see them together they have such a history.

  13. I had so much fun at Lolla the last time they played there and met some great GDC’ers. But once was enough. Too expensive. Too long a day. I’m too old for this kind of concert. I wouldn’t mind just them at Wrigley or anywhere else. But I am happy they are a part of the Lollla lineup this year. Just sad that that probably means no other Chicago show.

  14. Would make perfect sense for them to avoid working with Butch Walker again as a direct result of the reception of the last album, regardless of how much they enjoy working with him, and Cavallo is easily the safest choice to fall back onto in that case. Not going to hold hold my breath either way though, we'll see what happens. Definitely feel like every album since the trilogy has been missing some kind of Green Day 'magic', and I think a lack of Rob Cavallo is one of the reasons for that.

  15. I thought he said that shortly after FOAM and I was wondering if that was the Network album. If not, plans just may have changed.

  16. Green Day don't have to apologize for albums you don't like.

  17. Thinking about the promotion that will eventually happen with this album is it too soon for them to be honest about FOAM? Usually by the next release they're ready to admit what went wrong with the previous one. The interviews for FOAM felt so dishonest in the way they praised it I wonder if we'll get more this time about it or if they'll pretend it never happened.

  18. I wonder if Rob fully expected to produce the follow up after his success with AI and when that didn't happen there was some bad feeling. I know the band are notorious for not communicating, and they had that drama with Linda Perry when she assumed she was producing 21CB and she wasn't but no one told her. Rob may have gone through a similar thing, thinking he was producing but not being directly told he wasn't, just learning about Butch Vig through the grapevine.

  19. It’s always a huge thing when any band records there because of the history and association of the place but it is a working studio and many bands do use it. But yes, it is always intentional and to me this means a project of some substance and fresh inspiration.

  20. Just bought my ticket yesterday. I'm looking forward to seeing my boys again, not looking forward to driving eight hours to do so (or shelling out money for overpriced plane tickets). "Stuck with Me" being on the setlist in LA and Tampa is what made me do it despite the distance... if they end up not playing it, well, you might see me on the news lmao

  24. I’m excited for them to play Lollapalooza! My first time at Lolla was a few years ago when Twenty One Pilots played. My friend and I went hungover af after a Cubs game and Chicago bars the night before but had the best time lol

  25. I forgot to mention that I had a GD dream on the night before the Innings Festival show about the show. The main thing I remember is that Billie was wearing all white. White pants, white shirt, white tie, and white vest. I can't remember if his shoes were also white or not. Pretty funny seeing as he wore the literal opposite at the actual concert.

  26. There’s no better producer than Rob for them. Very exciting if he is indeed producing this.

  27. Good pick up. I just downloaded the pics and uploaded into 3DShot app. The circumference of the head in each pic is very close. If we allow a 5% margin of error then this very well may be the same person.

  36. Correct me if I’m wrong, I thought I remember reading somewhere that they had a falling out with Cavallo at some point. If he’s indeed back on board, it’s great, they worked out their differences!

  39. I just thought of something. I wonder if they finished recording the album and are back in the studio recording something for Ukraine. They wouldn’t be teasing this much if 1972 weren’t finished

  40. He never said EP, just that they recorded six songs in London. We then assumed EP, but it may have been an album all along and they always intended to go back and do more in the spring

  41. Honestly, I know it’s wonderful but bringing three fans up is too much for me, it takes too long. I could live without Knowledge and the Kiss cover. They have such a brilliant, huge back catalogue of their own, I don’t want to hear covers at a show.
