I posted this on random news as I don’t think it would be anything new announced as rare like this, limited edition etc.5 points

Bingo. Also tenth anniversary of the trilogy this year so it would make sense for some reissue. Hope they do the color pressings again because those are starting to get expensive4 points
-
I hope that if it is Trilogy related it is just re-issues and nothing new like a re-recording. I would LOVE more Otis Mixes especially on physical copies but it would really suck to be placed behind an annual subscription to a coffee company. I love their coffee but don't go through enough to make an annual subscription delivered monthly to be worthwhile. Hopefully if it is trilogy related we get a wider release in some form as well.4 points

I had read somewhere that Billie Joe and Tim Armstrong are cousins. I mentioned this on Youtube in an older video, but now I'm getting comments with people freaking out and rage quitting the video. Is the Rancid fanbase actually rancid, or what? Maybe it's an isolated thing. For everyone's benifit, here are some fanbases you better not interact with online: Idles and Judas Priest. Never say anything bad OR good about either of those, you'll get a skull crackin'. Lol Just to confirm, Billie Joe and Tim are not related in any way, correct? I guess I need to start filming one of those cliche "youtuber apology videos", but make them even madder. I will say they are actually identical twins and that Tim fronts Green Day while Billie plays bongos in the Network, haha.3 points

That makes sense!!! I hope they do something later this year for the Trilogy’s 10th anniversary, finally giving it the love it truly deserves!!!3 points

With the "possible album covers" posted by the band, I see more sense 6 reworked lookout era songs ... They played at the library un their last concert. A clue?2 points
-
1972 could be 6 new songs and 6 reworked Trilogy songs, transformed into peak Green Day (firing on all cylinders, as Dirnt likes to say every album cycle).2 points

I mentioned DUI half-jokingly. But if I remember correctly, it was vetoed by Warner for moral reasons. Could this be a 20th anniversary Shenanigans as it was intended? Still think probably not, but I want to believe they have the freedom to do that now. Fake edit: sorry, I know that wasn't on topic. Um...1972 was a good year. Produced some fine musicians. I like the way this project is shaping up, musically. Fingers crossed that the (apparent) celebration-of-life theme continues through the lyrics.2 points
-
Unhelpfully, Billie has said said both that Tim is his cousin and not his cousin, but I think the latter is true.2 points
-
OMG you’re right!!! The vinyl pressing accidentally replaced it with Drama Queen!!!2 points
-
Hmmm…God’s Favorite Band maybe? One song never pressed on vinyl before? Back in the USA? EDIT: That actually was released on vinyl. But what else could it be? Because if it were 1972, they wouldn’t just hint about 1 song2 points

Yeah, if that’s the case, sounds like it could be a special translucent green colored vinyl or something. Either that or a special edition Dookie with dookie-splatter vinyl 😆2 points
-
Phrasing sounds more like a limited vinyl release for an existing project. would be strange to purposefully make a new album or EP vinyl extra rare2 points

I really don’t know. To boost sales of a new release they certainly could announce a variant cover or colored vinyl that was limited and different from the standard one.1 point

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a vinyl for Shenanigans because that's what they've been up to the last few months with these teasers...shenanigans1 point

I bet it is. The original ¡Dos! vinyl has Drama Queen on it instead of Stray Heart so IIRC that song has never been released on vinyl.1 point

I totally get this. Sometimes it feels like going to the same concert over and over, even if it is a new era. I loved the 21st CB tour, there was a section in the show that was often different for each show, I mean Platypus (I hate you) live made the Montréal show so much better for me because it made that show special. Would love to see them bring that back, pick a couple random gems from the catalog each show.1 point
