I think it's possible that the Ukraine situation may delay a release only because now that they have more control over releases and stuff, they may feel uncomfortable releasing anything right now. I hope that no relief concert is done anytime soon only because it would feel wrong to have this big concert while a literal war is going on.5 points

I wish they would announce it and make a statement that while they love the Russian people they don't support Putin.5 points
-
Did people really expect the band to make an actual statement? this is from management, it’s that simple, and no one should expect anything further or more personal and it’s 100% the right call.4 points

From Billie's IG Story There was a re-post of the same one that was commentable, but it seems to have been deleted after a short time. After it was deleted, I only captured it from my Mac cache, so I couldn't check the comment.4 points

To be fair - he’s just a guy trying to live his best life. Most people become sort of comfortable in their lives as they get older and that’s a part of life. And most importantly, he’s not someone in a position of power. If he doesn’t want to be vocal about something, it doesn’t make a lot of impact on the world.3 points

Really don't like their excuse for not going in Russia. Making statement isn't their best thing in the Armstrong family.3 points
-
Well it’s not exactly the statement I thought it would be. Much too wishy washy to just say this isn’t the time for a rock concert. How about saying this is a protest against Putin’s unjust war? These guys used to be punk and take political stances. I mean they can’t even say they are canceling to show solidarity with Ukraine? That’s not even controversial. The whole world is doing that. When did these guys lose their balls?3 points

It has now been removed from their tour dates without a word, so far anyway.3 points

Do we now? Hmmm...I don't think they would give us the title when they are being so secretive about everything else. I think it's a vibe. They are all feeling happy to have survived 50 years and that is intertwined with the 70s Punk sound they use as framework. There could be a song called 1972, but I'll make a milkshake of Kerplunk if 1972 is the album title.3 points

Prediction: album May 7th, single April 9th. It must be an album, too many teasers.3 points

I think you all underestimate Billie Joe, get him riled up and he would see those bad boys off!3 points
-
My god if he set foot in my room wearing that, he would be so covered in cat hair. 😅3 points

Thanks! Thought it would be a fun discussion! I don't know if Billie would go down as easy as people are thinking, though. He can put up a fight if he needs to. His alter egos are just way nastier and he's too pure. Now, if you threw St. Jimmy into the mix it's anyone's game (but still not Billie's 😂 ).3 points

How did this come out online? It’s a private message not a comment. Someone screenshot and posted it? How did become public so quickly? What a disappointment. It sucks if this was shared without permission.3 points

Not doing business in Russia is de facto a part of the internatonal embargo. It’s not about spiting Putin personally.2 points

They have been playing it safe for a long time. There’s no way the same guy who wrote a letter to a grandmother telling her to fuck off is the same guy in this band. Or the band that took Pansy Division on tour and told a bunch of people to fuck off. He’s at home being boring and sheltered and not doing anything to rock the boat. I’m pleasantly surprised he did the Longshot tour but that’s about it. Ivory Tower and keeping the status quo. The random thoughts thread talking about the Rev and Fink putting Billie Joe into the fetal position and begging for mercy is incredibly apt. I love Billie Joe but the past few years are disappointing in several ways. Totally not one to make much of statement or get too uncomfortable. I miss the wild impulsive passionate guy. I still like this guy but… Yeah… Totally a safe player and not too dramatic or passionate anymore.2 points

March is so soon! I hope so too! However, holding off might be a really good idea considering world events right now or maybe dropping a single would be a great idea as a gift to fans during these terrible times.2 points
-
Yeah but if he’s fighting his alter egos have those egos left him? What’s left I him to fight with? Yeah his pure heart but I think the Rev would pee on it and Fink would do god knows what. A couple of days ago my money was on the Rev but after some thought my money is on Fink. Even when riled up at the end of the day Billie is still fetal position begging for mercy 99 to 1 shot without elements of the Rev and Fink inside him. This is the best discussion ever. Thank you once again GDC!2 points

By the way, to add more context to what I’ve said here yesterday, albeit not very eloquently: today, I’ve seen the Donbas narrative being shared on social media by friends who have been prone to spreading conspiracy and misinformation in the past…It’s the Russian propaganda narrative that goes from “but nobody cared about Donbas” to “Ukraine needed to be demilitarized”. Just FYI. People are already falling for it.2 points

No, not really, I'm saying the opposite. - This isn't a personal beef between Putin and BJA as individuals. This is about a business withdrawing from a country that's being sanctioned. The announcement it exactly where it belongs if the management decides to cite the reason for cancelling. I don't expect the band to make any geopolitical statements on their personal social media.1 point
-
Maybe they don't want to close their door to playing there in the future? Many recent cancellations (mainly from sports organizations though) also went with a condemnation of Putin's aggression.1 point

It's not just about race, it's about suffering we caused. People in the Middle East and Africa are also our victims. There's racism, there's xenophobia and there's also refusal to look these people in the eye and accept responsibility for ruining their lives. It's easier to emphatise with people who are running away from bombs that we aren't dropping.1 point

The band didn’t delete their post it’s still up on Instagram. Billie Joe deleted his post with the comments under it.1 point

If anything, Billie could write a song, they could record it, then shadow drop it1 point

Thanks for capturing this! Did anyone see the comments? Such a shame there’s finally a comment option and it was deleted. I’m guessing ruined by trolls but not sure… Did anyone see anything or comment?1 point

Doubt that. April 9th and May 7th are on Saturdays. If anything, they’ll be released on Fridays. I hope we get an announcement this week!!! I’m hoping for at least a single in March!!!1 point

I picked up my first guitar at the age of thirteen and ever since then, the music has put so many smiles on peoples faces. It's a good idea to tell them all how much they've affected us, because we owe it to them. Here you go guys, this is part of the beautiful affect you've had on the world1 point
-
Well, we've had our fair share of weird shit to go down on here over the years, but this certainly is new!1 point
-
Ah they've made millions and millions from us fans, I think they have a fair idea we love em 😍1 point
-
Tag them on social media, but don't spam them, and hope for the best they see it. Also "tracking people down" is creepy so hard no there.1 point
