When you use "thinking about seeing a GD gig" as the distraction when you get a vaccine. Hopefully the expression "third time lucky" will live up to its billing by enabling me to see HM next year.4 points

Pink Floyd abandoned the project that would have involved them making an album with household items. Green Day should record an album as Pink Floyd and actually record it with no instruments. I'm calling it. Household Objects - The Emerald Spine Lyrics are exclusively about Mountain Dew.2 points

I remember that post. But well it doesn't say whether Jason wrote those guitar parts or just played them I'd be perfectly fine with Billie taking a step back and letting the others have a bigger role. As much as I love modern Green Day, since American Idiot it seems it's been mainly Billie that's had the biggest role in the albums whereas before all 3 of the guys had a very significant role in the albums. And that was fine with most of these albums but I think Billie's sort of running out of things to say that he hasn't already said. I of course still want him to be very involved, but the other guys too2 points

I love to see these articles etc but is there any allowance made for the mad prices the Rolling Stones charge compared to the less mad ones of other artists? I know Hella Mega was expensive in US but given different artists charge different amounts, it doesn't feel like a level playing field?1 point

Honestly, I hope not. I love Jason and all the other touring members, but Green Day IS Billie, Mike, and Tre.1 point

Pretty sure that is a double bass and not a standard cello, but yes, it does make him look small nevertheless.1 point

To be fair, Jesus of Suburbia and Homecoming are both just 5 short songs included in 1 track. And even their other long/multi-part songs are just multiple songs in 1 like American Eulogy, Forever Now and Dirty Rotten Bastards even. I think when he talks about not liking long songs, he might be talking about 21 Guns or Oh Love which are 5 minute songs but don't have multiple separate sections1 point
-
I’m not 100% sure but did Billie Joe say Jesus of Suburbia is his fav Green Day song? Or favorite to play live? Either way, he loves that song from what I recall but I don’t remember the source.1 point
-
Oh yeah I remember that!!! But I’m sure he’ll write another long one when the time is right1 point
-
I defy you to describe the “real Billie”. He’s a walking contradiction. His opinions and feelings are constantly flying in the face of each other and change almost daily. That’s the “real Billie” if I must.1 point
-
I get the sense Billie is tired of Green Day being mischaracterized as a political band. He never intended to AI to be overtly political, like every other album it was meant to be about his own feelings and where he was emotionally at that time. Politics factored into it as a setting or a backdrop to fill out the statement he was making about how it made people feel. But it also pigeon holed them as a political band and he’s been fighting against that label ever since.1 point
-
To be honest I think they will not do anything like 21CB or AI again. They don't have something to prove anymore and have earned their place in Rock'n'Roll history. I think the next album will be something safe like Revrad but with a new sound. Maybe I'm totally wrong and they will do their most epic work as a next album but it's just not realistic. As long as the band is doing what feels right to them I'm totally satisfied with it.1 point
-
As great as 21CB was, I don't think they want to do anything like that again, largely because of how hard it was to make that album. I think they'll always make political songs as long as they're making new music (every green day project since AI has had at least 1 political song) but I think they're probably done with the whole rock opera concept thing. But who knows, maybe Billie will feel like he wants to make another one at some point in the future1 point
