I don't remember that either but probably would if I saw it? Is this it? The photos are still really cool5 points

Let's not look back. If the old picture is representative of anything, perhaps a feeling of starting over. Like they are a new band again instead of retreading the old stuff. I know everybody loves the old days, but I'm a weird who thinks who thinks the new stuff is better. Green Day always bring a different vibe with each era and this shall be yet another new sound. I'd love to hear them say they are starting from scratch. in the ashes of Green Day 89-2021. If you'll excuse me, I'm still trying to get spotify to understand how much I love Green Day. I don't know how much I listened to the Offspring but dang. I played Nimrod on a loop for 48 hours and I still can't dethrown them from my most listened band.4 points

That's Billie and his friend James Washburn (aka Washbucket and aka Brain Stew) at Pinole Valley High School circa 1989. Not much more to say about it really, just a clip of someone's home video.4 points

I hope they make another 16-18 song album that’s like 50 minutes to an hour long. FOAM was way too short3 points

I like the new stuff too. A lot. I love the idea of “in the ashes of Green Day 89-2021.” I love all Green Day and all the eras for different reasons and one way or another but the evolution of Green Day is what I love the most. I am most happy when Green Day releases new music and tries new things. If we wanted the old stuff we have the old stuff. It’s there to listen to and enjoy whenever. But it’s looking back. A mixed set list is great of new and old and showing the diversity and evolution of Green Day is amazing. I am so happy when there’s a new Green Day release. I love how they’re surprising and intriguing. I hope they always keep us guessing and keep the discussion about the music fun, fresh and passionate.3 points

We already got a COVID concept album, it's called Money Money 2020 Pt. 2.3 points

I just despise IWATT. Like, it starts off with bass/vocals but the bass is the most basic bassline ever, like usually when the bass is the only or leading instrument in a song, it's usually a bit more complex, the vocals sound weird and the lyrics are just kinda nonsense. Then the chorus is just generic, and then the 2nd verse lyrics is just a repeat of the first (but this song still has the nerve to be the longest song on the album) and then we get a mediocre guitar solo Well we all know that just because Billie says something, doesn't mean that it's gonna happen. Remember when they said there would be a video for Forever Now? Also, I think the whole "releasing another album with these songs" was likely forgotten about once the pandemic came. They probably didn't want to release another batch of Green Day songs that they wouldn't be able to perform live until several months later (by which point, many fans wouldn't care all that much to hear them). Like, I don't see any reason to think that all 7, or even most, of the tracks appeared on The Network album. Also, I think Here Comes The Shock was probably an outtake from FOAMF3 points
-
Others are free to disagree, but I conclude it based on the fact that at least one is a confirmed outtake (Art of the Deal of the Devil), they said they had 7 extra songs that would eventually be heard and that they would likely release something else by summer (which in hindsight probably means The Network album since they didn’t release them as Green Day like they implied) and if they had 7 unused songs and definitely used one of them why would they scrap the other six and write the Network album from scratch when they are always reusing old material for albums? Even FOAM contained a reworked song from These Paper Bullets. Occam’s Razor tells me most if not all seven of those songs ended up with The Network. Tell me Degenerate with its funky groove and falsetto didn’t come out of the FOAM session for example.3 points
-
Based on what ended up being released on FOAM, I'm not really sure I want to hear the outtakes. I still hope for a straight punk rock album, kicking back to the days of Dookie, Insomniac and Nimrod. No sweeping 7-minute epics, no politics, just a return to that gritty, hard punk rock sound.3 points

That's the Shibuya store in Tokyo, where they had such a display when FOAM was launched. It's a pity that I can't go there because I live in Osaka 😥3 points

They looked so good in that shoot, Billie especially 🔥🔥🔥🔥3 points

I think we are gonna get 6 new songs that will be FOAM like plus the singles we've gotten since HCTS3 points

Saw this from Tower Records in Japan on Instagram and thought it was cool3 points

Strange, it looks colorized. One of my favorites! So how did I not know there was footage of that John Varvatos shoot they did?? I have to hunt it down now!3 points

I know this has absolutely nothing to do the music (which is awesome) but I was avidly reading the liner notes by Steve Lamacq which are really cool but omg, he says the programme “sort…..” when he means “sought”, is nobody literate anymore?! If Bill is visiting the forum to see what reaction is, I’ll volunteer as proof reader 😉😇2 points

I never thought about that before but wow there are a lot of songs with the word piss in it. Wtf?! So weird! I can’t believe I never thought about that before. He is so good at adding “piss” to lyrics so eloquently. Fell for You is an amazing song and has all the feels meanwhile the man managed to say “pissed the bed” in it.2 points

Uhh idk if I like that idea... I mean, I think it might sort of depend how it's told but idk if I see a story like that working. I'd imagine if Billie were to write a concept around covid, I'd imagine it would be a story about how "someone catches covid, gets really sick, gets really lonely & depressed in isolation, can't work cause of covid, gets into debt, gets no assistance from the government" and then he would go on to criticise the government and leadership for not giving the assistance to people who need it. It may branch off into other issues like the vaccine, anti-vaxxers/anti-maskers, right-wing politicians anti-vax rhetoric and downplaying covid2 points

How do you know if the outtakes were released on MM2020pt2? I mean, I imagine they wrote a lot of the stuff before the release of FOAMF but I imagine anything they didn't include on FOAMF was largely because it didn't fit on the album more than not being good enough for the album.2 points

Stop Drop & Roll ---> Stdroll Love is For Losers ---> Lovers Money Money 2020 ---> Money Money Money 2020 Pt II ---> Money2 Not that Green Day had anything to do with The Network albums at all... 😐2 points

HOLY SHIT IMAGINE HEARING THE KALX CONCERT IN 4K AUDIO ON SPOTIFY AND VINYL I'll be brutally honest I'm really not but everyone has different opinions2 points

We do need to get back to the one word album title, maybe even change the others. Smooth. Idiot. Breakdown. Radio. Mofos. The next album could be.... Alcazar.... The cover will be Billie Joe in a beautiful dress, standing atop a castle. Down below, Tre and Mike are being attached by The Network and the Tubbies in a sprawling image that harkens back to the Dookie cover. It's actually designed by the same artist, while Billie is photographed by the Warning photographer. On the back a weather statue of liberty is tossing Billie Joe's heart into the city by the bay.2 points

This popped up on Twitter and I thought it would be appreciated here2 points

The first photo was taken by Marina Chavez Photographer. If you check out her Instagram she's done quite a few Green Day shoots, including the photos used for the Warning album cover https://www.instagram.com/p/BrLii3GHijE/?utm_medium=copy_link The photo was also used for a Tour shirt with the dates on the back (will have to see if I can find mine) Edit: Here's the front and back of the tour shirt1 point

Well, I don't know how to explain it properly, but pissing the bed is a thing that use to happen when boys become men, in a biological sense. Is one of those creppy lines, like Drama Queen has. I understand what he was trying to convey but I cannot stop to feel some rejection. Not because I dislike piss or sexual connotations, but a poor choice of words, haha. If we consider that BJ is always trying to bring back his younger self on most of his songs right now, probably that song is the result of one of those trips. Not to mention that UNO is a "back to the roots" record, mostly. Btw, "back to the roots" must be understood as pre-dookie days, and it becomes clear, at least to me, what they were trying to do with the Trilogy in regards of the sound. Kerplunk has that kind of "clean" tone as well, or at least not that crunchy compared with later records. And what to expect to the new album, besides that they do what they want to do is: PLAY THE GODDAMN THING LIVE1 point

This idiot shows you what the milky indie version looks like:1 point

I don’t know if they did this purposely but it sounds like a Weezer song1 point

Covid - I think many artists are going to be writing about covid during the next couple years. I mean, what can Billie say about the pandemic that he or others haven't already said BLM - BLM inspired the title track on RevRad and Graffitia talks about black kids getting shot by cops. Not saying he can't write about BLM more but it would have to be written differently as to not sound repetitive The Election - Well since it was Biden and not Trump that won the election, idk if I see this happening. Obviously the democrats aren't good either, but I don't see Billie writing a song about Joe Biden, and since Trump is out of office, another song about him seems redundant1 point

I picked up the clear vinyl version last night. The story of the album is a real treat, with some bands to check out and Green Day factoids most haven't heard before. There isn't anything else inside, so don't expect a lyric sheet or additional artwork. This will be the first Green Day release I bought on vinyl before cd, and I don't even know that I want a cd version. The songs are great and I almost want Album 14 to be recorded in this way. a combo of FOAM and American Idiot but made in a quasi-live fashion could be just what the band and fans need. Oh - my unboxing video is filmed and coming soon.1 point

Thought I'd look for some pics from the show in Tallinn, Estonia tonight but didn't find anything. Found these from the Trilogy Tour in 2013 though From Alamy's website1 point

I got my CD. There’s no jewel case it’s just a gatefold cardboard sleeve like a mini album. Book in one side, disc in the other. Interesting1 point

I think it speaks to how great a performer Billie is that we know what he was dealing with and going though at the time and he still put on a killer performance like this! I also happen to know for a fact that there were some GDC members I’m attendance there (not me!). Couldn't have put it better myself. I think the 21CB tour was probably the peak (so far?) of Green Day as a touring band. Deep setlists, incredible hours long performances night in and night out, stage presentation was A+, it had an extra leg for godsakes. So glad we got AAF to commemorate.1 point

I love @GDFan2019's enthusiasm and how you come out from nowhere when there's a scent of Green Day news. You're a bloodhound.1 point

Not a big fan of the "release old stuff and call it quits" approach. They might as well save that for when they're too old to go on tour/do anything new.1 point

There is definitely a collection of Sweet Children demos that hopefully will be officially released one day, but if this is a hint of that I think it is unrelated to the report of six new songs recorded in the UK. I think we need to separate the speculation into two different equally likely projects. There doesn’t have to be one unified theory that all the clues add up to.1 point
-
The idea of using that photo for an album cover seems like inspiration from UltraQ since their last two EP covers were old 80’s era photos of Adrienne. He may be toying with the idea but I doubt he’d do it. It could be another reference to an EP release though since UltraQ’s are.1 point

Picked up a copy of the "Foreverly" cassette (still sealed) yesterday1 point

I hope this wasn’t a miscommunication. I hope it’s real. I am really looking forward to this! Whatever it is I am excited and I hope that means they were in the UK recording not that other theory of they were there because they were planning on moving there. I hope they were there for a new project! And no Christmas songs please. Real songs please.1 point

I haven’t started a new topic for this as I think it’s probably wishful thinking, but I hope this posts ok. (A guy in the HM group says 6 new sings, recorded in UK, are about to be released.) https://www.facebook.com/groups/hellamegatour/permalink/3144081155716222/1 point
