Yeah I think he totally does it for the comedic value. That said, I’m 100% for talking shit about green day, but it has to be among fans. it’s way funnier that way.

So here’s my question: I thought Green Day had negotiated a new deal to release music in any way they want but it looks more like they’ve left them completely. Green Day are self releasing their latest singles (they are all copyrighted to Green Day), yet obviously Warner still has ownership of their back catalogue including new releases like the BBC Sessions (copyrighted Warner), and a portion of ticket sales and merch. I got an email from Green Day official copyrighted to Warner that promotes ticket sales to the Shaky Knees Festival, a sale on all merch called an “All By Myself” sale and Oakland Coffee gift packs of all things, but no mention of Holy Toledo 🤔 Also there have been no physical copies sold of the last four singles. So what exactly is their deal now? Will Warner do no promotion of their new music going forward? If so, how will Green Day do it beyond social media posts that only fans follow? Does Warner get a piece of Oakland Coffee sales? What’s their involvement in this separate company? They had to license the BBC Sessions I guess for the special 7” is it anything more than that? Most of all, I wonder what it will mean both for the release and promotion of new music and the potential release of any more old stuff that’s in the vault. Is that all Warner’s to put out now? Do Green Day control any of that?

Yeah I agree festivals are good for them, in that they love playing for large audiences and they're able to reach beyond their own fans and remind the world they exist and are still great. That's all good. But as an older fan it's hard to be standing in a festival crowd for that many hours to watch them on videoscreens because you need even more endurance to get a spot up front.

And funds, don't forget funds! Some of us are still feeling guilty for going to Hella Mega and paying double/triple what we would for a GD show. Plus, yknow, who can afford to travel to a festival when you have (INDOOR) arenas within an hour of you going unused? OK, sorry, Debbie Downer. I definitely agree that it shows their relevance, which is refreshing!

I think that the „(P) Green Day“ and the release through Warner are two different things. Taylor Swifts music, by example, says as well „(P) Taylor Swift“ on iTunes but she is still with Universal.

don’t watch Fantano but I know several YouTubers a few middle size and 1 large size channel who bash certain artists (or movies) but really like them in regular life their reasoning is “I get views when bashing the artist” not saying Fantano does the same but could be a reason

Speaking of cheap laughs, I clicked on his Limp Bizkit Still Sucks Review because I wanted to hear a review. it's a muckbang video of Fantano just eating for 15 minutes. No review, no score. I want A: His burrito recipe and B: to punch the video in the face.

That's what I don't get. If you know you haven't liked anything by the band since the 90s why bother? I really don't understand the thought behind reviewing artists you already know you don't like.

It wasn't a kiss with a fan, but when Bille kissed Mike in Hella Mega, he also seemed hesitant. Maybe it was because of the COVID, but it looked a little strange. But it looked like a junior high school boy kissing his childhood friend for the first time, and it was very cute 😍

Yeah, he is increasingly dismissive of the band in a way that is just beyond parody. But honestly, it's nothing new for me as a Green Day fan. This is the way people treated them after Warning, but before American Idiot. I also remember him saying something about not being a fan of anything they've put out since the 90s, so I honestly don't even know why he even bothers reviewing them . It feels like he's just trying to score some cheap laughs from his audience since they're now his favorite punching bag. It's just lazy from "the internet's busiest music nerd".

This is why I've never liked him. You don't like the song? Okay! But tell me why. Give me your perspective - I want to hear it! You may point out some things I didn't even think about. I want to hear all sides to this. Don't just say booo it's bad green day suxxxx.

Fantano said it was trash and refused to even say why. What a garbage reviewer. Just hates Green Day no matter what they put out.

The idea of this thread isn't to try and figure out where all the band members are at all times/speculate about how they spend their personal time. I don't know why there's a recent trend of this in this thread and others. Enough with that please, and let's not start the Brittney stuff again either.
