Finally grabbed a copy of Love is for Losers on vinyl

I want to kiss Billie. The best I got was second hand water bottle at The Longshot show. I did get every so slightly sick after that, but nothing enough to be a nuisance. I just kept thinking about how it's very possible it was Billie's fault. I think there was a lot of his backwash in it seeing as he had his entire mouth around the bottle opening. STUPID COVID! It's ruined any possibility of Billie being flirty with fans for the foreseeable future.

Listening to the song at different speeds now. Why? I'm a superfan, that's why My favorite part of the song is at 1:13 with the line "Crawling out of a dead man's bed" and the subsequent "we don't wanna know" lines. oooh, so good. What would this song be called if not Holy Toledo? Sex With Strangers? Death Wish Cravers? Talk of the Town? Also, I just remembered that we keep forgetting about Dreaming. Dreaming is free. Darn, we've got so much Green Day goodness lately.

All of Green Day fandom is listening in abject horror as Tre Cool goes ON and ON with dumb, jokey songs. Some of us are crying in our Father of All dark roast coffee. and then there's a slight swell of an orchestra. And then Mike Dirnt counts 1 2 3! Billie Joe counts uno dos tre! Tre Call says "you're doing it F-ing wrong!" and then BLAMO! A wall of rock n roll destroys the toy piano and we get a full Green Day album. So the intro is 47 minutes, who CARES because this trilogy is BANG BANGING!

Source on the Adrienne part? Only thing I heard on that subject was according to Billie she once googled "Billie Joe Armstrong bisexual" and there were lots of photos of him kissing guys lol. Many years before that they said they stopped spitting on/being spat on by fans because they kept getting sick, maybe thinking of that? When I saw Foxboro Hot Tubs in 2009 my sister and I caught swine flu (still the most ill I've ever been in my life) from a bunch of other people who had it, and the band was apparently ill after it too. Unsurprising with constant beer being passed from the stage to multiple people and crowdsurfing and kissing and beer spitting going on from Billie. It was a superspreader event. I'm still jealous that he and my sister kissed (she doesn't even fancy him lol)

Thanks to Reddit for those thing I didn't knew. In Homecoming, during Tré's section, there is a faint Don't wanna be an American Idiot in the background. In the video at 6:02 with back vocal boosted The drum part after Tré says ''geez'' is a call back to the post-chorus drum part from American Idiot. The drum fill for American Idiot leads us into Rock N' Roll Girlfriend from Nobody Likes You.

It's weird, but I like it! It has a dark feel to it and has Billies beauty at its core. I don't know why it resonates with me, but it does.

I think the kissing started as him being provocative by grabbing guys and kissing them but from about American Idiot onwards (by which time GD's audience interaction became much more friendly and non confrontational) it just became a thing where fans were happy to come up and give him a kiss or get a kiss from him. Although he seems to initiate it less (and he's never been the one to initiate it with girls at GD shows) IIRC a couple of times fans have done it at more recent shows and he's obliged. It's just harmless and friendly, although obviously unlikely to be happening under present circumstances! I've never heard of Billie or Adrienne saying anything about it.

I remember reading the Adrienne comment too, but only once years ago and I never saw it again. Don't remember if it was from an official source, or just a fan comment somewhere though. There were still a handful of times after he got sober during the trilogy tour. RevRad, the few times it happened, it was the fan kissing him. I figured part of the reason why he pulled back was because some people have gotten more sensitive about that kind of thing the past few years so he just lets the fan drive it.

What @pacejunkie punk said but I seem to remember at the time there was lots of fun and messing around with the masks which was great, but not if somebody had bugs to spread!

He and several other crew members had the flu was the official report. There was one interview from then that just Mike and Tre did with a radio station where they explained Billie was home with a high fever

I'm just imagining listening to that for 47 minutes and then the band erupts in at incredible volume and scares the shit out of you, like somewhere now but the intro is 3/4 an hour long

Not so sure, this track sounds nothing like a FOAM track. It has no synths or clapping. It sounds like Green Day getting back to straight up rock!!! But on the other hand, if it is a FOAM outtake, this is probably the reason why it was cut, sounding out of place on the record.

Sounds like an unreleased track from FOAM. Meh.

Holy Toledo is great. It’s a wonderful surprise right now. I’m so happy about it. NGL I have been very disappointed and disengaged as a fan over the past year since the hype over the Network fizzled out. Pollyanna and HCTS were not very exciting for me. I thought they were lacklustre songs compared to FOAM and now Holy Toledo. Maybe Pollyanna was great live but how would most of us know? This is the least engaging Green Day fan era I have ever encountered. It’s made worse by the pandemic. I did connect with GD fans IRL back before at shows etc but now obviously… Not so much… The No Fun Mondays and the Network felt different. That felt like an innovative way of getting excited and involved and having something to look forward to no matter what part of the world you were in or how isolated you were. No interviews, no engaging social media, a feeling of apprehension about attending live events… It’s been tough on a lot of people and a lot of us have felt left behind. Thank goodness Holy Toledo doesn’t suck. It’s like a well needed silver lining. I have probably listened to that song more in the last couple of days than Pollyanna and HCTS combined. I think I checked those other singles out and then that was it. I didn’t feel a need to listen to those songs more than a couple of times. And I don’t really have much of an interest in rereleased records. I appreciate the history it’s important but it’s not as exciting as a new really great song. Holy Toledo rules. P.S. The Longshot still rules too. I hope the ‘Shot comes back with an amazing new record. I feel FBHT, Trilogy and Devil’s Kind/Longshot vibes through Holy Toledo. It’s a really good feeling.
