  1. I would imagine Holy Toledo was written a while back if it was for a movie? Could even be a year or so old as the movie has been released now and won an award at a film festival back in the early summer?

  2. So I was sitting in the parking lot while my mom was grocery shopping at food lion? and I turned on the radio which was WMMR, green day “she“ came on and I immediately turn up the radio, so there’s that

  3. Holy Toledo is great. It’s a wonderful surprise right now. I’m so happy about it. NGL I have been very disappointed and disengaged as a fan over the past year since the hype over the Network fizzled out. Pollyanna and HCTS were not very exciting for me. I thought they were lacklustre songs compared to FOAM and now Holy Toledo. Maybe Pollyanna was great live but how would most of us know? This is the least engaging Green Day fan era I have ever encountered. It’s made worse by the pandemic. I did connect with GD fans IRL back before at shows etc but now obviously… Not so much… The No Fun Mondays and the Network felt different. That felt like an innovative way of getting excited and involved and having something to look forward to no matter what part of the world you were in or how isolated you were. No interviews, no engaging social media, a feeling of apprehension about attending live events… It’s been tough on a lot of people and a lot of us have felt left behind. Thank goodness Holy Toledo doesn’t suck. It’s like a well needed silver lining. I have probably listened to that song more in the last couple of days than Pollyanna and HCTS combined. I think I checked those other singles out and then that was it. I didn’t feel a need to listen to those songs more than a couple of times. And I don’t really have much of an interest in rereleased records. I appreciate the history it’s important but it’s not as exciting as a new really great song. Holy Toledo rules. P.S. The Longshot still rules too. I hope the ‘Shot comes back with an amazing new record. I feel FBHT, Trilogy and Devil’s Kind/Longshot vibes through Holy Toledo. It’s a really good feeling.

  4. I feel like I should clarify that the last paragraph was written at a time when I was not well established on GDC and did really feel truly alone. That sentiment has changed. The middle paragraph has not. I still don't know what to do with myself because it feels like I'm in love with the unattainable and it's holding me back from finding someone in my own life and ti scares me and I'm still embarrassed about it. Confessions are hard. Maybe that's why we just fangirl over Billie here instead of ever actually confessing anything. Speaking of which, I have no words for how beautiful he looks here! I love black and white photographs of him and this one is particularly stunning.

  5. I would LOVE to see them perform on TV again. That would give them exposure for the new song and give us an opportunity to see some new pro-shot footage. It's a win-win.

  7. I keep checking for a tracklisting for the soundtrack. I have a thing for tracklistings, lol. Curious as to what Stumpy has curiated along with this banger. I want to see the movie too.

  8. Seriously, it looks like GD doesn‘t WANT to sell music anymore. Where is the promotion? Is Crush sleeping?

  9. What do you mean? They had music videos for Father of All, Meet Me on the Roof, and Pollyanna and they were in them.

  10. I really like Holy Toledo a lot. I hope it gets some traction. I understand Pollyanna even though it was just a single was likely on every set list for Hella Mega because of the pandemic environment and the message of the song. I hope Holy Toledo gets a video and some extra promotion. I love it and would love to see a video for it.

  14. I expect to hear the word "razor blades" at least twice. "hearts" at least 6 times. Probably some cigarettes.

  16. THEORY: Billie said in 2019/2020 that there are still songs he wrote that they already work on with Butch Walker. In the meantime much time went by and they released HCTS and Pollyanna which were produced by GD. And now Holy Toledo was produced with Butch Walker again. So maybe this will be the first single of their upcoming album they work on with Butch 🤔

  18. This song is so freaking good for modern Green Day.

  19. That is kind of the point of the movie. “Sex with strangers.”

  21. I don't find that funny at all... I find it hypocritical and "actions sometimes speak louder than words". Not trying to be mean here but definitely coming off as being mean.... Green Day needs to up their Pollyanna game and move forward.... not back to the Dark Ages of Green Day.

  22. It’s funny how Scott Nagelberg said that they are the greatest band in the world on his Instagram but he sure doesn’t treat them that way as far as promotion goes.

  23. I agree. Here Comes the Shark with shark lyrics would be awesome. A whole HCTS album of songs. And another version maybe Here Comes the Shart. They could write lyrics about feelings regarding eating a deep dish pizza before a huge stadium show and more. Lots of sharty experience they could integrate into life experience based lyrics. Holy Toledo is amazing and I hope this is a sign of music to come.

  24. Tre posted a photo of a mic'd up baby sized piano today so I think it's safe to say the nursery rhyme album is officially coming

  25. Although I like FOAM, I admit that it didn’t really sound like them. Maybe it really was their way of saying “fuck you” to Warner.

  27. I think it's been awhile since there has been a true "fangirl confession" on here, so I'll be the sacrificial lamb, so to speak. I was trying to write something down about how I feel tonight, as happens occasionally but I have never bothered to log it, and found out that 2012 me had already nailed it on the head. I must say, it's a bit embarrassing how little has changed in my life in nearly 10 years. I'll spoiler it since it's a tad long, but any commiseration/advice is welcome. BTW this is from my personal journal, but I love you all and feel comfortable enough to share it, so here it goes. Oh, also I should mention this was before I discovered GDC and developed relationships with people on here. The "Green Day site" I refer to is the long dead Idiot Club. ...And I was crying while writing this, but I'm also a little bit tipsy (it's my weekend) so take that as you will. 😅

  28. Yeah, that's my only real complaint about the song. Luckily for me, I have always loved the band for the music, not the lyrics. If the lyrics are great in the songs, it's just the cherry on top for me. That being said, it's not the case for most people and I wish the band would go back to writing about topics that actually matter like they did in their 30s. Eventually, the band is going to need to leave a legacy, and it'll be a bit sad if the latter half of it is just middle aged men singing songs about partying like teenagers.

  33. I recently listened to some vocal-only tracks of 21CB and AI and wow, it‘s so amazing how they used harmonies to achieve much more powerful vocals. I really hope that they use more background vocals in their next album!
