  2. That's it! We've figured out the next album title will be "Bottle Rockets & Razor Blades!“ and will be the first in a new trilogy of " _____ & _____!" albums that ends with the long awaited "Cigarettes & Valentines!" The only mystery now would be what the 2nd album's title will be... bonus points for whoever can figure it out. Edit: Cracked the code! Album 1: Rainy Days & Razor Blades! Album 2: Bottle Rockets & Bratwurst! Album 3: Cigarettes & Valentines! I'll be taking my bonus points now kthx.

  3. "Party favors/ Sex with strangers/ We don't care what the neighbors say" It's funny how Billie Joe being a horny teenager was writing songs like One of my lies and now that he's a 49 years old man is writing shit like this.

  4. Played the song for Brandon. His first comment: What the fuck is it with these razorblades?

  5. You guys talk about Razorblades and bottle rockets, but SHOOTING STARS is a way more recurrent word in songs

  6. To me the music and tempo reminds me of stray heart. However the lyrics remind me of FOMF. And that's okay. My only gripe with that album was it was just too short. Adding these three tracks or four more tracks would have definitely had me liking it more so.

  7. Green Day was my first favourite band. They got me into Rock, made me pick up the guitar and dive into music theory. I was obsessed, watched Jaded in Chicago 1994 everyday after school. The Trilogy were the first records whose releases I experienced live as a fan. Over the time, I discovered new bands, got into different genres etc. Their newer projects always got my attention, but I never really felt the same spark. Sometime last year I finally realised / admitted to myself, that I can't say I really like any project as a whole after Breakdown. There were very good songs, but every project was (harshly said) a disappointment to me. But this song right here, it's so good. Longshot felt like a warm up (and thus disappointing), but Holy Toledo feels complete. It has this confidence, this 'we know we're good bitch' vibe older releases had to me. They never dropped this attitude, it's a key factor why their live performances still rock. But they finally managed to put it back into their music. I don't remember being so happy about a new song in a long time.

  8. Don't forget, this is in the movie (which I had never heard of previously, but seems to fit what I see is the subject) so possibly has been written specifically for it and may well have no bearing at all on what Billie is writing about currently.

  9. Tre’s interviewed in this new book about punk drummers…with a bunch of other notable musicians https://louderthanwar.com/new-book-celebrates-50-years-of-punk-drumming/ https://www.amazon.com/Forbidden-Beat-Perspectives-Punk-Drumming/dp/1644282275

  10. This really is classic trilogy (or FBHT/Dos) shit, very Dirty Rotten Bastards like in content. We’re carried away, carried away… with all the death references, the party til you die thing. He said he likes to write from the perspective of his younger self these days and I’m assuming his party days are some of his fondest most fun memories to look back on and write about from a place of safety having survived it.

  11. Lyrics: I want to go where the trouble begins And the morning after smells just like a dirty ashtray Oh give me shame lock me in the shower The penitentiary elementary school for losers If this is how it’s gonna end Then it feels all right Baby let’s get sick again We’re hell raisers Death wish cravers We’re running with razor blades Party favors Sex with strangers We don’t care what the neighbors say If this is how it’s gonna end Cuz it feels all right Baby let’s get sick again Crawling out of a dead man’s bed Well we don’t want to know Well we don’t want to know I’m killing myself just to live Well we don’t want to go Well we don’t want to go

  12. I hate how much I want to listen to this song 😂

  13. This song deserves a proper music video and a live version.

  14. Stop Drop and Roll was also heavily satirical and a serious commentary on the dangers of party life. None of those songs glorify partying and that lifestyle.

  15. Had a dream that Billie returned to Instagram. Hopefully this dream comes true.

  16. I'm trying to upload the small scene in the movie where we can hear the song but damn fuck Youtube is killing me

  17. Which is kinda weird if you think about it, because I'm pretty sure he's not one night stand kinda guy. You know, being married most of his life and stuff...

  18. Not posted anything for a few days so here you go

  19. Don't ruin this for us! 😄 This was obviously written after a night of debauchery on Adams Street. If only we'd elected Opal, we'd have that theme park and they would've had such a great time that they'd actually mention our name in the lyrics 😄

  20. And One for the Razorbacks ... maybe it's just razors?

  21. After first listen I think it’s much better than HCTS and Pollyanna. This one actually feels worthy of being released. Very Stray Heart/FBHT. It would have fit well on either DOS or FOAM. I don’t think it was necessarily a FOAM leftover. It’s possible they met up or sent this to Butch to produce after those sessions. Butch did say last year that they were planning to work together on a new album.

  22. This is definitely the best track from this year's releases! Hope they keep on experimenting with their Songwriting. I believe Billie still has more to give.

  23. "Razorblades" Next album title confirmed? 😄

  24. I really like the rhythm changes, the intro is super cool, I love the second verse and above all the central "special" that changes by bpm. I find some fresh air in this song! Since I read the title yesterday I was expecting something of a kind of sound between a Mexican saloon and a garage, it is a bit between Mother Mary and a bit Stray Heart, but it's organic, and it works in my opinion, and I find it right as a soundtrack of a movie.

  25. far better... this song is a strong 60s power pop a la stray heart/mother mary... i think its incredible

  26. I haven't seen a single negative comment about HOLY TOLEDO! yet. Quick, someone who hates it tell how much you hate it!

  27. Yeah, that's my only real complaint about the song. Luckily for me, I have always loved the band for the music, not the lyrics. If the lyrics are great in the songs, it's just the cherry on top for me. That being said, it's not the case for most people and I wish the band would go back to writing about topics that actually matter like they did in their 30s. Eventually, the band is going to need to leave a legacy, and it'll be a bit sad if the latter half of it is just middle aged men singing songs about partying like teenagers.

  28. "Holy Toledo, Edith, back in my day..." would work as a line for grampa Simpson

  29. I think you're reading too much into it. It's a Billie mid-life crisis song lyrically.

  30. The song sounds like if stray heart was released on the foxboro hottubs album. I like it! Very interesting song i love the upbeat feel it and pollyanna have had

  31. I wonder how many more one-off singles we’ll get before the next album

  32. They aren't owned by Warner, they partnered with them on the Crush Music label.

  33. No mention about Warner, they credited Crush Music Media Maybe this explain why YouTube Content ID didn't block the song

  34. I love this! It's almost as if they threw Mother Mary and Stray Heart into a blender, mixed it with a bit of MCR and then made a nice juicy smoothie out of it. It feels inspired and there's a lot going on musically. I can see myself coming back to this one quite often, although I am not sure I am a huge fan of the lyrics. The songs that the band has been putting out recently have been starting to reinstate my confidence that whatever album they put out next can and will be a good one and I get the feeling that wont be too far away given that the boys seem like they really just want to move past the FOAM era given it's absence in setlists.

  35. I like it so far, but I need a few more listens to get into it’s constantly changing groove. Also, am I the only one who hears the words “Death Wish Kramers?”

  36. Keeps growing more and more on me. The chorus hook is so good!

  37. And tomorrow we get a new Slipknot song! 2021 is going out with a musical explosion, I love it!

  38. I honestly think his wild party days are the happiest memories for him or something maybe he doesn’t know what else to write about at this point but I’d like to see him try. I agree though this is a big step up in quality so I don’t mind

  39. wow what a nice surprise! this definitely sounds like sth of DOS or FBHT, i really dig it HCTS was garbage, Pollyana was a nice solid song, but HolyToledo sounds awesome again, its very catchy and yes i agree the transitions are too "quick", but all in all this is (finally) a good song again, it has more "rocknroll" than "punkrock" but thats ok (now please hype us with some hints for a new LP greenday) 😋

  40. Stray Heart and Mother Mary got it on while The Jam's 'In The City' sat in the corner watching. That's this song. And it kicks the crap outta HCTS and Pollyanna. ...and AGAIN with the damn razor blades...

  41. I just heard the full hq of the song and my fucking God!! It's so damn good! 🙌🏼So much better than pollyanna & hcts

  42. I can confirm that the original YT release sounds so much clearer, don't worry people. Anyway it's a mash up of Stray Heart, Mother Mary and Devil's Kind...And I like it.

  43. Hey that was really good! So much variety sonically. I feel like their recent work has lacked this kind of unpredictability. I didn't know the whole song after the first verse/chorus! Only negative is the overuse of that Mother Mary riff. They've used it at least 3 times and it's also super common in rock history.

  44. Honestly after a few more listens this does sound like something that could’ve came out of the trilogy. If they go in this direction I’ll be very happy

  45. Omg I fucking love it! Agree with the Town Called Malice bit but I love that song, and the little tempo and instrumental change is really cool. The song has a lot of variety packed in three minutes, not repetitive at all like HCTS and others off FOAM. And the lyrics are actually good. This is a lot of fun 💚
