I agree with what @Hermione said. I would never want anything from Billie to be forced or un-fun for him. That's something I completely understand and if he's not wanting to be on Instagram then it's good he's not. I know none of them owe us anything and we're privileged to get the little interaction that we do, but that doesn't change at all how I feel. It's true that in the past we got nothing in between albums. Since we experienced that connection with them through social media like Instagram, it's really difficult to imagine that not being a thing. It feels kind of selfish and almost pathetic to have such a hole just because Billie's not on Instagram, but that's the reality for me right now because it is something that did so much for me. To have him come back would be a gift. On a different note, that is a spectacularly beautiful guitar! I can't wait to see him play it.

Not saying it isn't valid to feel that way, it's totally understandable to miss him being on there. I'm just saying it's also valid for him to choose not to be on social media as it is for anyone, and if he doesn't want to be on it it's better that he isn't (even though of course it would be cool if he did want to and hopefully he will feel like it again).

I miss the posts too. He’ll come back when he feels like it. I hope it’s something as great as the Longshot. Figuring that out was a lot of fun. The interactions were amazing. Small private Instagram, small shows, all good. I miss the Billie Joe Instagram and the Longshot Instagram too. Definitely don’t want it forced. I want it to be fun and kind of magical for friends and fans when he posts his funny stuff or cool projects. Can’t really leak secret shows or anything but who knows what will happen. It’ll all happen when it happens but jeez a lot of us are isolated and/or going through a lot because of the pandemic. The posts were a highlight to a shitty day sometimes (always actually no matter how dumb maybe the sillier the better). The posts (especially during the pandemic) were a bright spot for sure. He has a habit of just popping back up with something randomly who knows… let’s hope for the best.

Say what you want but I’m entitled to the way I feel and nothing changes that. There’s a void for me compared to what we’ve gotten used to as normal since they first joined social media in 2012

I mean, we still have more interaction with them than in the two plus decades prior to 2011 or so. Used to get literally nothing for months and months on end even between the hugely popular American Idiot and its follow up. Didn't mean they weren't still around then and it doesn't now either. Also Billie, Mike and Tre mostly don't even use their individual instagrams for band stuff, they use it for personal things. When it comes to that you're either into doing it or you're not. If he doesn't feel like being on it it's better that he isn't. The alternative would be forcing it/only doing it to fulfill promotional obligations and that would suck anyway.

You’re not alone. It’s drained the energy from the entire fandom. I feel like a follower of a band that’s not around anymore and all I have left is the old stuff.

Okay, you guys have convinced me. I'll see if I can get this "Billie Joe" person to be in my adaptation of American Idiot. But he's only had a few acting roles, right? I'm not sure I can direct such an armature in one of my productions, but I'll give him a shot. If he's as good as you all say he is, it just might work.
