  1. AAAAHHHHH! Look what showed up! Here are all of the cards for those who didn't order them and want to see them (quality is better if you enlarge the images)! Looks like Fink and The Snoo have the exact same stats. I wonder what's up with that. And why is Van Gough so fucking fast?! For anyone wondering, I added all their stats and Fink, Snoo, and Van are all tied at 27.5. Balducci is next at 26, Z is 25.5, and Captain Underpants is the weakest at a measly 22. What do these stats even mean? Who the hell knows. Fun fact: Snoo's card has a typo on it. It says "...entertained dozens though the years..." when it should say through.

  2. "Here is another VHS tape that I inherited from Jason Ross. The audio levels were so low on this one that I cranked it up to the max volume in Sony Vegas (+12db) and it was still inaudible, so I rendered a video track and boosted volume and dehissed in izotope. Odd video, where you see the crowd better than the performers. I don't think I have ever seen a CM video outside of the east bay/sacramento area. This might be the only video document of that US tour with Billie Joe from Green Day on guitar"

  3. Hey guys, I'm wondering if anyone here has ever seen this video. As of now, I'm assuming it's lost media because I have never come across this before. Browsing through the archives on GreenDay.net, I found two mentions and a dozen stills of Green Day's appearance on MTV's Select, filmed at MTV Europe studios while they were in the UK. There are no relevant results that I could find on Google. I'm assuming it was just an interview about the Minority music video, not a performance. I thought I'd share this here, hoping someone might have more information on this or even have a copy on tape somewhere.

  7. I just checked my Green Day Videos folder on my computer because I renamed and added some new ones and was curious to see how many I had at this point. It's 666. I have 666 GD videos in this folder. It means nothing (except that I have a shit ton of GD videos), but it's funny.

  8. I love the way Billie can evoke an emotion using word play. He's one of the most efficient songwriters I know, able to convey so much in the fewest words. This just struck me as I'm listening to Demolicious and specifically Missing You: "I PUNCH the walls, I HIT the street, I'm POUNDING the pavement". Those three connected words used in three common figures of speech makes the line feel more anxious and desperate. Bloody genius.

  9. I apologize if this isn't thread-worthy or has been done already, but I thought it could be fun. Are there ever any instances that occur in your daily life where someone says something and you immediately start singing a Green Day song in your head? Or if you see a sign you think of a song? I'll give a few examples of what I mean: -While watching the NFL playoffs today, the commentators have described a play as "Bang, bang" a few times, so I immediately started singing the song in my head. -There's a street I pass called Longview Ave and I always start humming the opening bass line -My brother took a picture from Gate 86 at an airport the other day and told me, "There's no return." -I will sing Give Me Novocaine in my head while the dentist is drilling my teeth -Same goes for Blood, Sex and Booze when things get kinky in the bedroom These are just a few examples of what I'm getting at and I'm curious if anyone else had things like this happen in their own crazy Green Day brains.

  10. Here's the thread in the download section with setlist & source info. Billie is on the far right. It's not worth watching unless you really like Corrupted Morals, it's hard to see any of the band members, and Billie's furthest from the camera.

  16. Theme wise and emotionally speaking there might be a song or two that could have been dropped from Uno. Uno has Fell for You and Stay the Night and Oh Love which are great and sounded so fresh from GD. Even though Uno is kind of the closest to a traditional GD record I still feel like it’s an evolution of writing and songs like the ones I just mentioned are totally not typical GD songs of pre-trilogy era. There’s an evolution in the songwriting and character relationships and it’s a lot more fun and feels more like in the moment and real like you could almost feel the character is right there with you where before it was like the character/Billie/the Slim Shady or whatever and left like he was looking in a lot of the time and wondering but not really experiencing the real connection (please listen to Welcome to My Panic I’m referencing that Slim Shady thing he said) anyway... it’s like with this new character he writes from a point of view it’s finally like he’s not purely an outsider looking in or being left out of his so-called community or stuck in his same situation... it’s like he’s having fun and almost free (but not quite the guy loves to panic and worry and hold on to everything even old clothes). The Trilogy showed something fresh and real. Might be harkened to what he was saying about writing on Welcome to My Panic. Too bad it all comes crashing down again. Hence, Tre. The Trilogy is my favorite. It’s like a diary or a story or an autobiography I really want to read. Haha. So we have a mashed up bunch of songs and I attempt to read them as they are as well as between the lines. No other Green Day project can bring on this much discussion. I do not talk about FOAM like this, the Longshot a little (but that’s basically a better received version of the trilogy), and I think FBHT kinda could fall into Trilogy theories and theme (obvi: even the band says that). Basically: the Trilogy, FBHT and the Longshot are really interesting and interwoven.

  18. I guess because they organised the songs they had into a theme for each album (rather than writing them separately or whatever) maybe one of them had to kind of get stuck with leftovers (not bad songs, but just songs that don't necessarily make as strong a theme) and Tre was it? I remember there's a scene in Cuatro with them trying to organise the songs on a board....it must've been a nightmare trying to figure it out tbh . I agree with @Virginia Lot Lizard's description of the three album's themes but I do agree that Tre's theme is a bit weaker than the others.

  21. It’s the way the songs are organized on each record. It was on purpose. Each record has a distinct feel and theme. It was like Uno was sort full fun and having crushes like old school Green Day, Dos was like the dirty record and Tre was the after. It was a progression of energy and feeling. Tre was down and pretty sad. And kind of like needing to face reality like it or not. Like the writing was wistful and leaving something behind to be somewhere he thought he was supposed to be but maybe was always thinking of wanting to step away again. Sometimes growing up sucks. And you’re forced to deal with stuff you can’t run away from. Tre is a downer. It’s a great record but it’s pretty sad like something is being left behind but it’s not like they want it that way. Like the Forgotten. Or basically any song on Tre. X-Kid is a heartbreaker. Dirty Rotten Bastards is great and has some pick me up energy but is still a little down. I love that song. But still: We’re too old to be misbehaved. And I love the reference to the character Julianna Homicide. Blushing bride? But the name seems kind of like trouble. Is she a weird saint mother mary Marie saint not a celebrity kind of character? He seems to like characters that are nice but trouble. What is that about? It’s like Billie’s songwriting character is always looking for the eject button to escape to have a lot of fun and friendship but also chaos. It’s like he’s happiest then. His writing and character building is super amazing. I love the way he wrote for the trilogy. Uno, Dos and Tre may have been organized in such a way to have a theme or a progression but much of the songwriting was coming from a real place or it really felt like it did. It was just presented in a certain order regardless of when the songs were written or what the inspiration was.

  22. Hm I most definitely don't consider Brutal Love, 8th Avenue Serenade, Amanda, Dirty Rotten Bastards and The Forgotten as the boring aftermath.

  23. It's really funny to hear him talking about it then versus now. All the interviews at the time were like what a cool idea this is and why not when we have all this music and we're so inspired right now, etc. and now he's just all "What the hell was I thinking that was insane!" 😄 Makes me wonder what he'll say about FOAM in five or ten years.

  24. As someone who has pretty serious anxiety and depression issues, I can totally relate to Billie in this interview. The part where he talks about setting ridiculously high standards for himself and working himself into a mental breakdown really hit home. "It was like there was a gun to my head but I was the one holding the gun." Yes, that's a perfect metaphor... I've done that to myself too. I've worked myself so hard that self care went out the window and my health spiralled downhill until I hit a breaking point. I don't know about Billie, but for me (and a lot of other anxiety sufferers I've talked to) it's kinda a vicious cycle. The obsession with work is a way to distract yourself from your mental health problems. When I was working hard and setting higher and higher goals, I didn't have time to sit and ruminate and think about how low I felt. It was a way of avoiding confronting my issues. The problem is that the heavy workload causes stress which feeds the depression and anxiety. Your mind can only cope with so much before it collapses. Billie talks about that feeling a bit: "my panic attacks were going up and up and up" and then resorting to abusing downers to bring himself down from the panic. I don't know. It was an excellent interview and after listening to it, I feel like I can understand Billie very well, on a personal level now.

When you're at school and you apply every sociological or psychological theory that you learn to GD. When you basically cry yourself to sleep every night because you haven't been able to go to a GD show yet, and you're starting to think that you'll never get the opportunity.

When you google Green Day twice per hour just to see if anything has happened. But only a true fan knows that it always sounds better on the radio -When you call in sick at work because you're going to a GD show, but your boss didn't give you a day off -When you compare every single show of another band you see to a GD show and think "Dammit, GD is so much better live" -When you have at least one GD song that perfectly describes every phase of your life / every mood
