MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH HIM!!!!! And now some sound wisdom from the man himself:4 points

Theme wise and emotionally speaking there might be a song or two that could have been dropped from Uno. Uno has Fell for You and Stay the Night and Oh Love which are great and sounded so fresh from GD. Even though Uno is kind of the closest to a traditional GD record I still feel like it’s an evolution of writing and songs like the ones I just mentioned are totally not typical GD songs of pre-trilogy era. There’s an evolution in the songwriting and character relationships and it’s a lot more fun and feels more like in the moment and real like you could almost feel the character is right there with you where before it was like the character/Billie/the Slim Shady or whatever and left like he was looking in a lot of the time and wondering but not really experiencing the real connection (please listen to Welcome to My Panic I’m referencing that Slim Shady thing he said) anyway... it’s like with this new character he writes from a point of view it’s finally like he’s not purely an outsider looking in or being left out of his so-called community or stuck in his same situation... it’s like he’s having fun and almost free (but not quite the guy loves to panic and worry and hold on to everything even old clothes). The Trilogy showed something fresh and real. Might be harkened to what he was saying about writing on Welcome to My Panic. Too bad it all comes crashing down again. Hence, Tre. The Trilogy is my favorite. It’s like a diary or a story or an autobiography I really want to read. Haha. So we have a mashed up bunch of songs and I attempt to read them as they are as well as between the lines. No other Green Day project can bring on this much discussion. I do not talk about FOAM like this, the Longshot a little (but that’s basically a better received version of the trilogy), and I think FBHT kinda could fall into Trilogy theories and theme (obvi: even the band says that). Basically: the Trilogy, FBHT and the Longshot are really interesting and interwoven.3 points

It’s the way the songs are organized on each record. It was on purpose. Each record has a distinct feel and theme. It was like Uno was sort full fun and having crushes like old school Green Day, Dos was like the dirty record and Tre was the after. It was a progression of energy and feeling. Tre was down and pretty sad. And kind of like needing to face reality like it or not. Like the writing was wistful and leaving something behind to be somewhere he thought he was supposed to be but maybe was always thinking of wanting to step away again. Sometimes growing up sucks. And you’re forced to deal with stuff you can’t run away from. Tre is a downer. It’s a great record but it’s pretty sad like something is being left behind but it’s not like they want it that way. Like the Forgotten. Or basically any song on Tre. X-Kid is a heartbreaker. Dirty Rotten Bastards is great and has some pick me up energy but is still a little down. I love that song. But still: We’re too old to be misbehaved. And I love the reference to the character Julianna Homicide. Blushing bride? But the name seems kind of like trouble. Is she a weird saint mother mary Marie saint not a celebrity kind of character? He seems to like characters that are nice but trouble. What is that about? It’s like Billie’s songwriting character is always looking for the eject button to escape to have a lot of fun and friendship but also chaos. It’s like he’s happiest then. His writing and character building is super amazing. I love the way he wrote for the trilogy. Uno, Dos and Tre may have been organized in such a way to have a theme or a progression but much of the songwriting was coming from a real place or it really felt like it did. It was just presented in a certain order regardless of when the songs were written or what the inspiration was.3 points

I love the way Billie can evoke an emotion using word play. He's one of the most efficient songwriters I know, able to convey so much in the fewest words. This just struck me as I'm listening to Demolicious and specifically Missing You: "I PUNCH the walls, I HIT the street, I'm POUNDING the pavement". Those three connected words used in three common figures of speech makes the line feel more anxious and desperate. Bloody genius.3 points

¡Dos! > ¡Tré! > ¡Uno! > RevRad > Father of All. I love RevRad, but ¡Dos! is 100% solid bangers. ¡Tré! has Brutal Love, Missing You, 8th Avenue Serenade, X-Kid and The Forgotten. Although I've overplayed ¡Uno!, I still love the "pre-party" (kind of impending doom, but fun impending doom) vibe. The only track I'm super enthusiastic about on Father of All is Meet Me on the Roof.2 points

They refund all tickets and reopen sales for the number of tickets available. This is what the NCAA did for the National Volleyball championship that took place last month in Omaha, Neb. where the capacity was 25% (4,000).2 points

I just checked my Green Day Videos folder on my computer because I renamed and added some new ones and was curious to see how many I had at this point. It's 666. I have 666 GD videos in this folder. It means nothing (except that I have a shit ton of GD videos), but it's funny.2 points

The FOD is the same circuit. I dont own the FOD but I have used both side by side. The only real difference is that the FOD has a switch for a Mid Scoop, Flat or Mid Boost. The DD only had Mid scoop and flat options via a button rather than the switch.1 point

Having been in full lockdown again since Boxing Day, even seeing crowd scenes in films etc is now looking weird to us Brits so it’s going to be an adjustment just getting out and about again far less going to a big show! Gyms, shops, bars etc are opening though so no doubt we’ll adjust again pretty quickly.1 point

I admit for the money we spent it would suck to have our shows in the US with masks and distancing now while Europe gets totally normal shows next year.1 point

Yeah there is. One gig going well doesn't mean everyone will be vaccinated for another gig in time or that people shouldn't have the option of getting a refund instead if they're not comfortable being crammed in with thousands of people so soon. If they want to try large events this early with appropriate precautions that's fine but people who bought tickets expecting a show under totally difference circumstances should have the choice. Back in 2019 before anyone could anticipate this people bought tickets for a regular show in 2020, not a show where they have to be under pandemic restrictions and wear a mask etc or go from being told to social distance and not being allowed to visit a friend's house to being packed with thousands of people a matter of weeks later in 2021. If experiments in gigs etc go well that's good but it should be optional. In this particular case since they're already postponing half the tour until next year I can't see much reason not to postpone the rest. The shows will be more enjoyable without the worries and restrictions of doing it this soon.1 point

Here's a picture that's a bit more flattering to make up for the last one. I always feel like I couldn't possibly admire Billie any more than I already do, but he always proves me wrong. The Words + Music podcast made me brim with adoration and love for him. He's so amazing!1 point

So I have a couple. First is this screenshot my friend took when we were camping in Pokémon Sword and Shield together and it made us crack up. Even my trainer talks about how beautiful Billie Joe is (my Giratina, in this case). Second is I Googled 420 just to see what came up and I had to take a picture because that's just too many GD references in one place to pass up. A weed shop called 420 Holiday in Longview!1 point

I'm not a fan of beards but he was so cute in the interview that he won me over. He deserves to take breaks from looking super stylish. Think of how much entertainment we'd miss out on if he didn't - Billie's hair is an ever changing constant source of intrigue.1 point

The hat was my second favorite part since it covered the blond. Favorite- arms. Waiting to see who will change their avatar to one of Billie's reactions. This will always be my favorite Look for Love reaction (wouldn't embed for some reason).1 point

Same. I had such mixed feelings on that show. First I felt dumb for traveling out for 3 songs, but after I was super thankful that I was able to go. Not only was it a special experience that only a few fans got to be a part of, but it was one of my last shows of 2020. So I consider myself very lucky that I got to see Green Day that year, especially since I didn't intend on going to HM.1 point

In hindsight, I'm even more grateful that I drove to DC for that shitshow of a Longshot show where we nearly died. Who would've known it would be my last Green Day-related gig for God knows how long.1 point

I'm not interested in travelling to multiple shows per tour but if they play in London (2 hour train ride away) my sister and I will always try to see them. Luckily they go there for every tour and have done some extra smaller shows there so starting in 2009 we've ended up seeing five GD shows + one FBHT, half of them being last minute surprise ones. All thanks to joining GDC, I certainly wouldn't have known about the surprise ones or how to get tickets for them etc without this place. I was amazed just to see them once on the 21st CB tour and went home satisfied, but then FBHT turned up one week later and the day after that they announced a stadium show the next year... . They're the only band I bother to go and see, really looking forward to seeing them again whenever that happens.1 point

I just think concerts should be held off this year. Let people get vaccinated and we can resume next year. It sucks to say, but it may be for the best.1 point

🙃 well yeah, who are we kidding - after the pandemic is over, they can play KFAD for an hour and we won’t mind.1 point

I usually used to try to go to a show somewhere I had never visited before and kill two birds with one stone. There are some fans who try to be the person who's been to the most shows. That's not me, I've only ever counted because I was asked1 point

On another note "Demolicious" is seven years old today! Now where the hell did that time go A little. Not as much as some people And I may be too ill to attend Hella Mega even if it goes ahead this year (doubtful). No worries though. I'm very happy with what I have managed to do1 point

I just realized it means we’ll finally get to see him for the first time since January. Fan life is so different without Instagram1 point

I’m feeling really emotional today about missing Green Day and that photo right there brought it all back. The inclusiveness, the generosity, the way they make every fan feel accepted and important. He gives us love we give it right back. It’s not something to take for granted, It’s not something every band does. It all comes from Billie and his desire to connect and create community, an extension of the community he came from. He wants people to love music and to get all the good feelings from it that he does. For outcast people lacking that kind of love and acceptance in their lives especially (I found it as an adult but did not have it for much of my life), being a part of Idiot Nation feels as necessary as breathing. I was watching one of the many many videos where he brings a fan onstage to play guitar, in this case a young girl, and she can’t play the chords so he has to pick someone else, but after he calls her back and gives her the guitar and tells her to practice. She says “I’ll do it for you”. That’s a fan that could have walked away feeling rejected and bad about herself and instead he gave her this gift of kindness and her memory is a positive one and she will go to the ends of the earth for him (or walk through a wall of spiders!) I have never once seen or heard a story of a fan interaction when he was not kind and generous. If those stories existed they’d be out there and they’re just not. That’s how special he is, I have rarely seen someone with such enormous empathy. It really matters to him that every person he comes into contact with have a positive experience. That feeling you come away with carries over into times when he’s not around and in ways he doesn’t even realize. I’m feeling Green Day’s absence more and more as we go into year two of no shows and now months of no online interaction. I get that he may need to do this for his own well being and mental health and I support it but it’s only because of the person he is that his absence leaves such a void. The occasional merch drop just can’t make up for it. That would make them just like every other band and they’re not like every other band. Sorry for going off but the longer it goes the harder it gets and I just needed to vent. 🥺1 point

I miss the singer guy of Green Day posting on Instagram. Those were the days... The last three months have been extra gross. No Fun Mondays and the weird posts helped make the pandemic not as terrible by just that little bit... I am complaining here because my friends IRL don’t care that the singer of Green Day deleted his Instagram but I think you guys do. Thanks for being there GDC ❤️1 point

It was The Independent in San Francisco. Glad this video is still up. I remember watching it over and over.1 point

It was one of the secret shows for 21CB in April/May 2009. Definitely not the Fox Theatre and there were definitely videos from the show at the time. It's really annoying me because I know the answer to this and I remember watching them at the time/wishing I could be there. I want to say it was The Uptown in Oakland but not 100%. @solongfromthestars will remember1 point

Can confirm. The first time Billie came out on those stairs and squealed as he let the glitter (aka drugs) out of his pocket it was like... I don't know how to explain it. So glad I got to see it (lost my job for taking off to NYC too even though it was a mix up over holiday days!)1 point

I've been diagnosed with panic disorder too. It can be very distressing and disabling to live with. At one point when I was younger it was so bad I could barely eat for days and I couldn't leave the house. I had no idea how to cope with it and I ended up developing a self harm habit because of it. But honestly knowing Billie also suffers from it but still went on to be one of the greatest frontmen of all time really inspired me to keep fighting and get better. Sorry for oversharing but it's an awful thing to deal with and I'm grateful to Billie for having the courage to be open about it, it really helps to know you're not alone.1 point
