  1. As the first concert date in the US, I would prefer if they postponed it until later in the year or next year. Even though I've had both of my vaccines already, I think July is still way too soon.

  2. Interview with Mike about Oakland coffeehouse including info on some things they have planned, including Zoom chats with Mike. Also artists can contact them and request to appear on the Sorta Live series (which will run weekly) https://www.google.com/amp/s/datebook.sfchronicle.com/music/green-day-gives-coffeehouse-culture-a-jolt-with-new-virtual-platform/amp

  3. To be totally honest, I trust Rivers with doing multiple albums a year more than Billie. Rivers is a song-writing machine and just put out one of his best albums, but Billie (with the exception of how quickly $$2020II was written) usually takes his time and is better for it.

  4. I really like super thin Billie. Of course, that doesn't mean I don't love him with a little more meat on his bones too. He was not exactly a beanpole during early 21CB (he got pretty thin for Broadway later on) and that's one of my favorite looks for him. I think the ideal is a little on the thinner side, but still moderately curvy. Like this: He's not ultra skinny, but you can tell he's strong and fit. (Of course I used 21CB Billie as an example. He's so prettyyyyyyy!!)

  5. Haha after listening to this audible story I kept hearing “y’know” peppered throughout my own sentences more than usual, y’know? I would think this interview was fake if there weren’t enough “y’know”s.

  6. I love the Billie Joe show and the Green Day show. But yeah this was kinda led to believe this was Billie Joe’s life story through songs and Green Day kinda is his life y’know? I don’t understand that “take” but whatever. Billie Joe is working and doing a lot of cool stuff during the pandemic and I am so glad for these stories and recordings and all the other stuff. This was a great story and I enjoyed listening to it. Lots of great stories told by BJA with lots about Mike and Tre included. I liked it a lot. Super nostalgic and I think he still has those feelings inside if he can still write like he did for the Trilogy and Longshot. He still has a young heart full of the feels and I think he’ll be like that always and for this I am so glad. Not really mentioned because it’s not really a story it’s an idea of an influence. This quote from the Rolling Stone interview: ”Those things never really stop as you get older. You always come across people that you want to spend time with, but you have to be realistic about it. When you’re a kid, it’s OK to be more impulsive. When you grow up, it can cause a lot of wreckage in your life, so it’s best to maybe write a song about it.” He’s not one of those who is going to be writing about high school for the rest of his life. He is not going to be tapped on the shoulder outside of a concert while kissing a girl but there’s still something and he’s still how he is. Lots of heart, fun, friendship and the other stuff.

  7. Just a reminder, please don't post or ask for download links, this is copyrighted material It's briefly discussed in the Turn It Around documentary. I think one of the deleted scenes goes into even more detail about it.

  8. True lol. It's not an authentic billie interview without all of the "ya' knows". I've gotten so used to hearing him say it over the years, I didn't really notice it until halfway through the audiobook

  9. That’s a.. that’s a take this was never advertised as a green day thing, nor should it even have been considered one

  10. It was amazing to listen to those songs. I imagined myself sitting in the same room with Billie and listening to him. The versions sound so natural; his voice mostly unfiltered and not strained the way it is during shows. In my opinion, his singing here is the most natural it could ever be. It confirms my conviction that his studio voice is always a bit artifical. I don't mean auto-tune but something like pitch correction and something that makes his vocal timbre softer 🤔 It also cannot be denied that his natural singing tends to crack, he just can't sing smoothly for a long time. Even though his voice is somehow special.

  11. It's also good afterwards when he's calmed down and comes back and sheepishly goes "I don't wanna play that fucking song" and they play something else lol Yeah there's still a whole lot of people who haven't even had the first vaccine dose and only 12 million have had the second so far. Plenty more to do. I agree late summer will be the absolute earliest.

  12. I just heard a snippet of an interview with one of Austria‘s biggest event managers. He said that in 2022 there will be great concerts, including Green Day. So it looks like the European leg won‘t be cancelled, it will be postponed again

  13. Dude, this was BILLIE's audiobook, not Mike's, not Tre's. Green Day is still a band, they are not dead. They literally released a single a few months ago. Billie is just trying to make the most out of the years until they can actually tour again.

  14. Forgot to say, I was glad to hear his panic attacks aren’t such a problem now.

  16. I almost believed The Network were Green Day for a while there. Almost.

  17. It says 'Green Day's European tour' in the update. Weezer & Fall out boy weren't booked for the first shows, including the show in Norway, so it doesn't have to mean anything. Just have to wait and see what they have decided. Hope they annonce the tour dates soon.

  20. Billie smashed his black Gretsch after the 1234Go show in the Trilogy era

  21. Tre used to destroy/burn his drum kit a lot around Nimrod/Warning times, not sure if guitars were ever involved or not. I remember one time on the 21st CB tour in South America Billie got pissed off at the beginning of a song because he made a mistake or something and threw a replica Blue (the original was out for maintenance at the time) on the floor very hard. I think there's been a few times where he's thrown them on stage at least. There was an interview with either Chris Dugan or Bill Schneider or both where they mentioned that when he throws ones he cares about he usually throws them carefully enough that they won't get too badly broken lol. So I think he's thrown a few but not smashed them up like that. Edit: Also just remembered when he tried (but failed) to smash the window of a Subaru with a guitar during a Rev Rad show lmao. Can't find a better video than this for some reason

  22. 😡😡 Two things. First, I still don't have my CD I'm gonna break everything. Second, and that's the most angriest thing ever, someone from GDC came to my stream like 3 days ago and wrote Amyl Nitrate; Popper Punk in the chat and then just left. I want to know your GDC username right now.

  24. They’re releasing one for every season on the first day of each (titled Spring, Summer, etc)

  25. They just need to say something at this point. Like to me it makes the most sense to just cancel it and move on.
    1 point
  26. Maybe because Green Day want to move on from this era too? The other reason could be because of the other two bands on this bill. They all have to want to postpone and coordinate their schedules.

  27. Part of me wonders if their announcement is taking longer because it'll be a cancellation. But I also don't know why they'd be the only tour to cancel out of the countless others I've seen that are just postponing again.
    1 point
  28. Postponing seems to be the worst option - if the pandemic didn’t happen, this era could be already over with, but if it gets postponed another year, we won’t be free from FOAM at least until 2023.

  29. I guess it must be an insurance/legal thing. Probably have to wait for the venue to technically be the one to cancel or whatever.

  30. I think MCR postponing their tour is another telltale sign that Hella Mega will also be pushed back. Just give the announcement already, dammit.

  31. I just think concerts should be held off this year. Let people get vaccinated and we can resume next year. It sucks to say, but it may be for the best.

  35. well, even if he never returns, he has no reason to. He produced some real gold that I had waited 26 years to see, so I believe he did gods work and i'll be forever grateful.
