  1. I wish they sold tea too! Here I thought I was the only green day fan who doesn't drink coffee, lol

  6. Yeah, it'd definitely get old fast. Hence the /s. In all seriousness though, I'd like to see Green Day try the ramones-core thing The Network was doing. Songs like TLM, CUNT, etc. are some of the most fun ones Billie's written in a long time imo. I think Green Day proper could really knock that sound out of the park

  7. The past is dead, you can't go back there even if you wanted to. They're clearly happier exploring new horizons both in Green Day and side-projects so I think we'll just have to accept that going forward the new material won't be for everyone. Those classic Green Day albums aren't going anywhere, and I maintain that if they start purposefully retreading old ground it will only end up sounding like a hollow imitation of their past successes.

  8. Oh yes! And they recorded some of their rehearsals as well according to Jason. These recordings would be very interesting as well!

  9. That would be nice! They've been recording everything since at least 21st CB though. The amount of great footage they're sitting on is crazy.

  10. Which classic Green Day sound would that be, the Dookie one or the American Idiot one?

  11. They had a booth at the 40th Street block party a couple years ago giving away free samples and merch. I asked them about selling tea, the woman there said they get asked that a lot and theyā€™re considering it. Guess it hasnā€™t happened yet. I did get a free box of their medium roast pods though and it actually is really good coffee. I maybe had one cup once a month for a change of pace from tea it lasted me a long time. But if I did drink it regularly I would definitely buy theirs.

  12. Green Day are amazing and complainer fans that only seem to complain are spoiled and not very supportive. I think Green Day is amazing. And Iā€™d like to see any other band release 3 or 4 albums a year plus side projects plus singles plus whatever else and a cover band or two and club shows and stadium shows and a heck of a lot more. And theyā€™re far from boring or churning out the same stuff all the time. They evolve they know their roots they are a total perfect band and I love them. We are so lucky. People who donā€™t get that probably donā€™t know how hard it is to do all that and how epically great Green Day is as a band and as artists. Iā€™m guessing the complainers donā€™t have much else going on in their lives. If you donā€™t like Green Day maybe you should just leave or find a higher purpose since you know so much. Your band probably rocks the hardest. Start a band or nurture new talent maybe. Tell them how to be great. Disclaimer: I do complain about Green Day but I also respect and worship them and love how they try new things even they try end up being fails. I love them for it. They are not boring and they work extremely hard. But yes I definitely think some songs are weak etc but holy hell thereā€™s 775578 this year alone. Look at the bigger beautiful picture. This band is not resting on their past or churning out ā€œnewā€ versions of old songs. They try new things and itā€™s exciting. That being said: classic Green Day on the Oakland Coffee House is cool but Iā€™d love some newer stuff. Even the stuff that didnā€™t make the Trilogy (haha ā€œnewā€) but I know thereā€™s a lot of unreleased Green Day from that era that is probably really great.

  13. On the post from today they tagged Billie's Instagram name and for a second I thought his profile was active again and my heart jumped. I quickly clicked on his name all excited, but nope..."user not found"

  15. They never do the same thing twice. I'm not going to try to predict what Album 14 ends up sounding like but considering pretty much every album since Dookie has had its own sound I definitely don't expect another Motherfuckers (although I actually really love that record so would absolutely welcome that). Even the only direct sequel they've ever done (We Told Ya So) sounded pretty far from the original Network record. Also, more comedy in Green Day! Stuff like Respirator, Cancer is the New Black, Amnesia Vagabond were so refreshing and really reminded me of songs from Nimrod and moments in AI (Homecoming) where you can tell it's just the band having a blast creatively -- but also there's a clear essence of quality where you can really tell they worked really hard on the project and wanted to write the absolute best album they could. Come to think of it RevRad was like that too with how Bang Bang is lyrically.

  16. I wasnā€™t playing dumb when I asked the question. My point was I donā€™t think they have one classic sound. Every album sounds different so when people say that it doesnā€™t really mean anything

  18. If you're including everything from 1989-2004 as classic Green Day, then there's no point in using the term. American Idiot is completely different to 39/Smooth and the early EPs in every way. Depending on how you define the word classic, you could also include 21CB in there. Or Uno as that's been described as "classic Green Day" by Billie Joe
    2 points
  19. So many people were moaning about them not doing enough a few months ago, whilst the quality has been very hit and miss you can't deny Billie Joe has kept busy for the last year.
    2 points
  20. Precisely. The classic Green Day sound is whatever album or albums the person using that term likes the most. As a band they've always continued to push forward sonically, and the moment they stop pursuing that progress is the the beginning of the end IMO.

  21. Well San Francisco is opening up to outdoor stadium events at 50% now and indoor at 35%, so maybe we will get a show soon from the Bay Area. Just a show by Green Day not the tour. Indoor ticketed and seated events and performances may reopen at up at 35% capacity if patrons show proof of vaccination or a recent negative test result for the coronavirus. Vaccinated-only sections may be created with relaxed distancing requirements. Outdoor ticketed events with live performances may expand to a capacity of up to 50%. https://news.yahoo.com/san-francisco-reopens-further-live-210102800.html

  25. When "green day classic sound" can literally mean anything except their most recent album, then no I'm not exactly sure what sound you're talking about. Also, FOAM isn't really all that different from Green Day's regular sound outside of a couple tracks.
    1 point
  26. Totally agree, it's amazing how Green Day changed their styles over the years. I'd say that they literally never did what was expected from them (even 21CB was unexpected in my opinion because the quality in terms of the songwriting/production/effort was just on another level in comparison to everything before), so FOAM was somehow the logical consequence of GD's evolution, because nobody expected them to do such an album after RevRad (at least I didn't)

  29. Metallica and Red Hot Chili Peppers record every show (since '86 for Metallica and '02 or '03 for RHCP) and they put them up for purchase on their sites (both digital and CD in Metallica's case, idk about RHCP). I know for a fact that Metallica gives you a free mp3 download of your shows (though I paid a few extra bucks to upgrade it to FLAC). Metallica used to post a song or two from their shows, with 10 or so minutes of footage of them arriving, doing meet-and-greets, fucking around, and rehearsing on YouTube.

  31. The last thing they should do is return to the 'classic Green Day sound." What a death sentence that would be.

  32. Oh, I didnā€™t even think of that, that this might be some of what they took back from Warner. I didnā€™t notice any presale teases, and I thought merch referred to Oakland Coffee merch, not Green Day merch like what they sell on their store website still through Warner.

  38. Green Day are way cooler than the Foo Fighters and Offspring. I donā€™t care if those other bands are selling more tickets. Green Day means a lot more and has a much more diverse audience. They mean more and their evolution is important. How much is the audience of those other bands growing? Arenā€™t they basically throwback 90s bands doing basically the same thing theyā€™ve always done? Sure theyā€™re consistently good and their fan based is consistent... Because are they really evolving or doing anything interesting? It doesnā€™t look like it. Iā€™m not a big fan of either of those bands so I could be ignorant with what Iā€™m saying but to me they seem boring and like theyā€™re retro 90s bands. Green Day are way more interesting and fun and full of surprises. Even sucky surprises sometimes but amazing surprises too. Iā€™d rather have a fail of a suckfest once in a while than be a diehard fan of a boring band.

  42. I know right. Not only did we see the London FBHT show getting professionally recorded (never to see a second of it), but when I went to see Prima Donna a year later Kevin told me they'd all watched it Interview was great! Love Jason

  44. My kinda thing! Maybe I've been lusting after the wrong member of Green Day all these years.
    1 point
  45. That could have been part of it but I tend to go with the simplest explanation which is consistent with what Jason said and what they expressed in Cuatro! and that was that they wanted the songs to have a live in studio feel and so they wanted to have bigger guitar sounds and two guitarists. If you contribute ideas in the studio and are not just a session player you deserve to be considered a full member. Of course they could have used Jason on the record and not made him a member, that part could have been Billie just thinking Jason had put the time in and deserved it by then. Iā€™m wondering if Jason ever officially decided not to continue in the capacity after that tour or if it just quietly went back to a threesome when they got together to record RevRad.

  47. I would be excited for you guys in the US if you can get shows this year, but thereā€™s no way this is going to happen in Europe, because each country has its own rules, quarantines for people coming into the country, vaccination is going slowly in the EU and new cases are still high. Iā€™m not considering this tour as a possibility at all.
