Please don't laugh at my words that this album's songs stood the test of time. I am in hell now, and these what? Four months? Seems like several years. And these songs have been with me and helped me. I am sure they will until the end of this HELL year.3 points

@pacejunkie punk you captured the true essence of what it is to be a Green Day fan and why this band and Billie are the rarest of the rare and absolutely to be cherished. I hadn't thought about why their absence, and Billie's in particular, is hitting us so hard, but you completely nailed it! It's because what we get is so special and when something like that is gone, it really does feel like there's a void where it was. It is impressive and that's another thing that I admire about him. Other celebrities are so vain and constantly talking about themselves and every little thing they're doing, thinking, etc. and spewing their opinions all over the place. No senses of privacy for themselves or others and it's fucking annoying. Even when Billie does share things with us when he's in a social media mood it's cool stuff that still allows him to have a personal life.3 points

Now I want Billie to sing Jolene I feel you about wanting your friends to appreciate Billie. One of my friends is a casual fan and I accomplished to get another friend to understand what I like about Billie when I showed him the longshot and kevin - apparently, Green Day isn’t punk enough, but liking Billie because he still plays in bars and has a cute boyfriend is understandable. Maybe that’s the way to convert people.3 points

On the post from today they tagged Billie's Instagram name and for a second I thought his profile was active again and my heart jumped. I quickly clicked on his name all excited, but nope..."user not found"2 points

This is my most recent Green Day dream: I was helping Billie Joe unload supplies from off of a small boat. At one point I dropped a gym bag in the water but I picked it up right away and it was ok. Then later I was in a hospital room recovering from some kind of minor surgery. I asked if Billie Joe was still there and from across the room he told me that he was. The best part of the dream was when he hugged me. I was leaning against his chest and he was wearing a navy blue vest or sweater. Then we were waiting for Adrienne to meet us somewhere. I saw a picture of her that was a Japanese Anime. But in the anime she had white hair. I was thinking that whoever drew it got her hair wrong. Then I realized it has been years since I have seen a recent picture of her so it is possible that her hair may have turned white. After all she is my age and my hair is turning white. But I woke up before she got there.2 points

I miss the singer guy of Green Day posting on Instagram. Those were the days... The last three months have been extra gross. No Fun Mondays and the weird posts helped make the pandemic not as terrible by just that little bit... I am complaining here because my friends IRL don’t care that the singer of Green Day deleted his Instagram but I think you guys do. Thanks for being there GDC ❤️2 points

Yeah that's what I thought. Every site like that just copies from fan edited places. To me the only ones that count are ones in an official YouTube video as a caption.1 point

To be fair Billie hadn't exactly been complimentary about Oasis in the past1 point

He's definitely got the voice for it. If he can sing Everly Brothers covers with Norah then he can sing other old country too.1 point

I think the one released in 2007 also reviews the other 4 albums besides Dookie but they are not just that in depth but I find this American Idiot one on yt If you wondering the one I talk about, it’s here1 point

Less than zero chance that Toronto happens. The border is still closed. They aren't gonna let one hundred plus people in from all over the US to perform for tens of thousands.1 point

I’m surprised he’s able to live as privately as he seemingly does. It’s pretty impressive.1 point

I’m feeling really emotional today about missing Green Day and that photo right there brought it all back. The inclusiveness, the generosity, the way they make every fan feel accepted and important. He gives us love we give it right back. It’s not something to take for granted, It’s not something every band does. It all comes from Billie and his desire to connect and create community, an extension of the community he came from. He wants people to love music and to get all the good feelings from it that he does. For outcast people lacking that kind of love and acceptance in their lives especially (I found it as an adult but did not have it for much of my life), being a part of Idiot Nation feels as necessary as breathing. I was watching one of the many many videos where he brings a fan onstage to play guitar, in this case a young girl, and she can’t play the chords so he has to pick someone else, but after he calls her back and gives her the guitar and tells her to practice. She says “I’ll do it for you”. That’s a fan that could have walked away feeling rejected and bad about herself and instead he gave her this gift of kindness and her memory is a positive one and she will go to the ends of the earth for him (or walk through a wall of spiders!) I have never once seen or heard a story of a fan interaction when he was not kind and generous. If those stories existed they’d be out there and they’re just not. That’s how special he is, I have rarely seen someone with such enormous empathy. It really matters to him that every person he comes into contact with have a positive experience. That feeling you come away with carries over into times when he’s not around and in ways he doesn’t even realize. I’m feeling Green Day’s absence more and more as we go into year two of no shows and now months of no online interaction. I get that he may need to do this for his own well being and mental health and I support it but it’s only because of the person he is that his absence leaves such a void. The occasional merch drop just can’t make up for it. That would make them just like every other band and they’re not like every other band. Sorry for going off but the longer it goes the harder it gets and I just needed to vent. 🥺1 point

Something similar happened over Warning. Some nobody tried to sue them and then quietly went away when it was pointed out that they both probably stole from The Kinks’ Picture Book and he didn’t want to open the door to getting sued himself. The Kinks apparently never bothered with suing Green Day.1 point

I've posted screenshots of this performance before, but I watched it again recently and just had to take more because LOOK AT HIM! There are so many Billie looks that I love, but this is the one that I always seem to be drawn back to. I think it's because 21CB Billie was my introduction to him and when I first fell in love and that gives me a soft spot for it. Absolute perfection!1 point

I had one last night where I was talking with a friend about Billie and explaining why I love him so much and how he is a genuinely wonderful, talented, and sweet person. My friend started coming around and developing an appreciation for him and was able to enjoy Green Day music more. I found him watching the performance they did of "Working Class Hero" (But for some reason Billie was singing a cover of "Jolene" by Dolly Parton. It was surprisingly very good, but definitely not the right song.) My friend mentioned that he thought Billie's singing was actually really good and I said something like "Yeah, he has a really beautiful voice. Doesn't he? He also looks great in that performance." I told him I had the song and could send him the file for it if he wanted it. Man, I really wish my friends liked and appreciated Green Day and Billie for real!1 point

Yeah, I guess "given up" was a poor choice of words. I didn't mean to infer that his absence has any kind of intent behind it. It's just a bummer and I hope he comes back. It sucks that people are such jerks and make it kind of a hostile environment for him by harassing him about stuff like Joey or politics or whatever. It only takes a few assholes to ruin things.1 point

Watching super store on Netflix and in this episode Cheyenne's mom wants to throw a Green Day theme party for a 2 year old and Jonah even lists several Green Day songs when challenged by Amy. Made me really happy when I saw it.1 point

I was just watching Bob's Burgers and there's an episode where Linda is dyeing everything green for St. Patrick's Day and another character says they should do that for all the other holidays too and then lists "Arbor Day, Labor Day, Green Day Day." and I had to rewind to make sure I heard that right. I got unreasonably excited about that.1 point

The NHL never cared before it's changed since the major push to try and capture more of the US sports market. In Canada we had Don Cherry on TV all the time and he got fired last year for a controversial comment. I spent years saying "how do they not fire him over this stuff?". Hockey was always a tough sport and we've had some crazy players come out in interviews over the years as well. As of late it seems players have been put in a course for handling the media and interviews and the game seems to have lost some of it's emotion. I miss Jeremy Roenick talking shit in interviews. I hated him as a Leafs fan at the time but I respected his emotion and drive for the game. Green Day would have represented the NHL better in the 1990's or early 2000's. No one at the time gave a fuck. Hell, one of my earliest memories from the TV in the 90's was watching Billy Idol flip off the camera telling the media to fuck off. I laughed and my parents didn't give a fuck about it.1 point

Reading a recent ESPN article about the NHL's return to play and Steve Mayer, an NHL executive, made a pretty amusing and rather obvious veiled reference to Green Day's obscenities at the 2020 All Star Game: ESPN: The NHL said there will be a five-second delay on the broadcast to catch obscenities and other language. You've said in the past that there would be more "24/7," behind-the-scenes footage of players airing before and during games. How careful are you going to be about language in those segments? Mayer: When it's appointment viewing and it's an "all-access" show, we've had no issue with them being uncensored. But for our games -- especially given some of the times of these games this year, playing all day long -- it's really important that families watch and kids watch. We didn't want to have an issue. Now, of course, we're protecting our players. It's a joint decision between us and the NHLPA. It was everybody that made that decision, including the networks. With families watching, it doesn't seem right. We've gotten burned before -- like by musical artists. https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/29544868/how-nhl-games-look-sound-restart1 point
