Yeah, I guess "given up" was a poor choice of words. I didn't mean to infer that his absence has any kind of intent behind it. It's just a bummer and I hope he comes back. It sucks that people are such jerks and make it kind of a hostile environment for him by harassing him about stuff like Joey or politics or whatever. It only takes a few assholes to ruin things.4 points
-
He did the wise thing if he was upset about the comments. It could go pretty bad if he lashed out and got into a fight over the Joey thing. (I absolutely DO NOT want to know his opinion on this matter.) Plus it’s probably less stressful to not have to deal with public social media at least for a while when he doesn’t need to do it “for work”. I still miss his content though.3 points

Oh, I'd LOVE to see a Network show. That would be amazing and completely novel. I still haven't seen Foxies either, so that's a bucket list thing (if they'll play again [pleeeeeaaaase!!]). I was so lucky to see The Longshot when I did.3 points

It's understandable to miss him being on Instagram but it doesn't mean he's "given up" or anything that serious. He's never been that into social media and not wanting to be on it is a valid choice. Up until a few years ago this was the norm for Billie (he's only had his own social media accounts since 2011 - and hasn't always been active on them) and it's still normal that not everyone has them, celebrities included. It's not something he's doing against us, whether you feel like being on social media is a good thing for you or not is a personal thing. Also it might not even be permanent. Maybe at some point he'll feel like coming back. It's probably not enjoyable to have people harassig him about Joey on there so makes sense that he doesn't right now.3 points

I think we’ll probably never know but the odd times you see Jason in interviews or appearances, e.g Little Steven, he looks really uncomfortable. Whatever the ins and outs are, they all seem ok with it so that’s what’s important to me.2 points

My last three dreams have been about Ctulhu trying to scare me and failing, then I had a dream in which I was pondering if growing oyster mushrooms on boats would have helped avoid malnutrition and scurvy, and finally, I dreamed someone was trying to sell me oregano claiming it’s LSD. I can’t say it’s a drought in the dream department, but wtf, brain, wtf!2 points
-
I mean, I did have that dream where Billie was a pirate captain. So this is not new. To me at least.2 points
-
What can I say? I can't control my brain. It does what it fucking wants. Sometimes it's the same nightmares over and over about school and sometimes it's a Green Day dream jackpot. If it helps, I feel like when I immediately write the GD dreams down, it stimulates me to have more and strengthens my recall. Often when I get lazy and just go back to sleep without logging anything then I don't have them for awhile.2 points
-
I am so jealous You're having THREE GD dreams. Meanwhile some of us are having a drought!2 points

That was so good! Learned a lot I didn't know like how he played with Monsula, founded Fluke fanzine and was basically the only employee running Adeline Records for its first six years. He's right about having the best of everything by not being an official member of the band. He may not make their kind of money but he has his anonymity and none of the headaches they have.2 points
-
Mike and Tré really need to tell Billie to come back. I want Billie to show at least some kind of interaction to get us excited for Green Day again. Especially if they are able to start playing some form of shows in the coming months like Tré is hopeful for. It's like he's disappeared off the face of the earth. It makes me so sad that he seems to have just given up and I miss that special connection with the fanbase so much.2 points

Spitboy has collected its complete discography into a new compilation, Body of Work (1990-1995), which will come out on June 25th. The compilation is now available for preorder, and, true to their mission three decades ago, 100% of the proceeds from the compilation will benefit the National Women’s Law Center. In addition to a full accounting of Spitboy’s music, the record contains new liner notes by writer Vique Simba and Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, who witnessed some of Spitboy’s earliest shows. Here, exclusively, are Armstrong’s full liner notes from Body of Work (1990 – 1995), which perfectly capture the pioneering punks’ spirit. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/spitboy-billie-joe-armstrong-liner-notes-1151353/1 point

Thought I'd finally share this one. Recorded 32 years ago today!1 point

Thank you! I couldn’t quite place where I remembered it from.1 point

Second Street is easily one of my favorite PG songs. It was stuck in my head yesterday. It was in Cometbus 54.1 point

This is a very interesting fact I didn't know about. But it makes a lot of sense, and sounds very bad-ass. Billie was so drunk that he wrote some brave lyrics, and insisted on including Jason into the band. It really doesn't really matters, because I KNOW that he is a cool guy either way, but still1 point
-
I can never help thinking the reason they took him in in the trilogy era was because at that point it seemed Billie wasn't to be messed with and there's some source (the Mark Spitz book, I think) that claims Billie wanted Jason to join the band way back when he became a touring member and the rest of the guys disagreed.1 point
-
"He's right about having the best of everything by not being an official member of the band." Maybe he felt that way because he was a member in the worst era? Or maybe I am again talking complete shit? We will never know the answer. Only @That Dude knows. He knows a lot of stuff. Even that I am drunk now again.1 point
-
Must be proud to have been an official Green Day member during the worst Green Day era 😂1 point
-
I'm not an expert on his stuff but he's in Pinhead Gunpowder and that's all awesome. I particularly like these two songs which he wrote and sang lead on: Maybe you already know this and mean other stuff not involving Billie though haha. From what I remember both Influents albums were good1 point

I volunteer to be second crew mate on Captain Billie's ship1 point
-
Yeah true. Or he might simply just not feel like being on social media (whether just randomly, or he stopped because of something specific but then found he didn't miss it, or whatever). Doesn't even have to be for one particular reason or for strong reasons.1 point

Funny how six months passes for "the test of time" these days 😄1 point

I do agree. But I'd still swap it for a small side project show every time haha. If I'd never seen a big Green Day show before I'd want to at least once but now I already have that's my stance . I'm actually still so happy I got to see them once that I've viewed every time I've seen them after that as a bonus. Any size show and any band from them is great. But a Network tour would be particularly fun and awesome, especially as they've never done one before and especially with such amazing new material.1 point
-
To be fair I would rather see a Network, Foxboro Hot Tubs or Longshot tour than a Green Day tour at any time ever1 point
-
@Montclare, I need to thank you! I've been experiencing a dearth of Green Day dreams for awhile now, but I think reading your dream sparked my brain into action somehow because I had three last night! The last one was of Mike singing an outstanding version of "We Are The Champions" and some other great songs. It didn't even sound anything like him. He was also playing a non-bass guitar.1 point
-
I have nothing valuable to add here other than right now I would rather see a Network tour of the new material than a Green Day tour.1 point

Had a dream that GD was going to be performing on tv. I was watching at the house I grew up in, and had the tv on a different channel when the batteries in the remote died (@Slave To The Network why are we both dreaming about batteries? ). I had to run downstairs to get more batteries from the fridge (I do not keep batteries in the fridge in my conscious life). The light in the fridge which was candle powered kept going out. I was debating if I should be concerned by that, but decided the performance was more important, so I went back to watch. Everything was going great, Billie looked happy and healthy, when it turned into an Ashley Simpson type moment of the song playing not matching what they were doing. Then I woke up.1 point

Just found myself a "Macy's Day Parade" CD Edit: just kidding. This is one of the rarest items in Green Day collecting and if I ever find and buy it you will know1 point

It is! Here's another relatively short one that's really weird, but kind of funny: I was with Billie, Mike, and Tré in an airport parking garage and we were trying to destroy cursed batteries. We were throwing them against pillars, stepping on them, scraping them on the ground etc. I was scraping ‘This battery sucks’ into the ground with it and then a little picture of a T. rex or something, but didn’t finish it because it looked like something was about to happen with the battery and I ran back away from it. We ended up setting off a grenade next to the batteries, which seemed to work. We took the destroyed casings of the batteries with us and got into a car, which was a white sedan. Billie drove and we were making to leave garage. A ticketing kiosk was coming up with a ‘Do not enter’ sign and I yelled at Billie “Turn! Turn!” but it was too late and he’d driven through the do not enter lane right past the security guy at the kiosk. The man yelled “Hey! Stop!” Billie turned into a parking spot on that side right as another car was pulling out to try to fake out the security guard, but it didn’t work and he came after us.1 point
