  1. You know who is in the valley? Kevin. Maybe this is his joke on Billie.

  2. Oh no it’s spreading https://www.radio.com/music/rock/is-billie-joe-armstrong-running-for-president A part of me wants this to catch on, because it would be funny, but at the same time I’m thinking “oh no everybody is going to think Billie is a total buffoon again”

  5. They should have put Mike Dirnt as his Vice and then accuse BJA of colluding with Putin.

  6. You'll have to put Billie in a coffin before you bury him. That's the only way he's leaving Green Day.

  11. Well that was fun waiting for this to appear at midnight. I started to listen on Spotify and then eight videos popped up on YouTube. Watched all those instead so rad!

  14. Digital sounds great. I definitely notice a bit more separation between the instruments with the remaster. Excited for the vinyl.

  15. ironic for a statement like this to come from Eric, GDC's resident complainer

  16. I'm surprised at how much of a noticeable difference there is in the remaster. The bass definitely stands out way more and the guitars feel less in your face.

  17. They uploaded videos of Prague 1996 on their Youtube. Playlist: Digital Insomniac 25th Deluxe Version is now on Spotify/Apple Music and for sale on Amazon and iTunes. https://music.apple.com/album/insomniac-25th-anniversary-deluxe-edition/1557550800 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08YCX4QY7/ref=dm_ws_sp_ps_dp

  23. I was waiting for that picture! @ the people who are worried about him falling out, the window is not open (you can see the reflections of the room in the glass). He's an idiot, but a safe one. He could fall backwards, but probably wouldn't hurt himself too bad. He'd just look like an even bigger jackass than usual. That's why we love him.

  24. Just scheduled my first covid shot in Pittsburgh at the Peterson Events Center almost exactly four years to the day of when I was last there — to see Green Day for the first time ☺️ How cool is that?!

  30. Around the time they announced that 2008 tour, they announced they recruited Kevin as a touring member, and that he had nothing to do with the actual recording of the album. It was Billie and Jason who did all the guitars. I can’t remember if it was a press release, a MySpace bulletin or whatever, or if it’s still online somewhere, but I swear I vividly remember reading them say that at the time

  33. I’m not saying they have or haven’t, I was just providing what California’s current vaccine phase is - which Billie, Mike, & Tre do not qualify under for their shot - unless doses were expiring and they have open slots. i have coworkers in my age group who have also gotten their 1st shot because there were openings and doses were going to expire (I am in Kansas).

  35. Yeah everything being cancelled has put a damper on things. I'm sure they will tour again as soon as possible though so hopefully you'll get to see them. Here Comes the Shock is probably a leftover from FOAM and picked because it's catchy etc for the NHL promotion rather than meant to be their greatest work. The Network album is awesome and they're always awesome when playing live so I'm sure there's more good stuff yet to come.

  36. What do you think of The Network album? It's literally the same people so I think even if you're not a fan of FOAM there's hope. I wouldn't write them off based on one 10 song album and a random song that's probably an outtake from it anyway though. Also if the tour hadn't been cancelled due to covid they would've been killing it live all year which might've given things a more positive perspective. Just my thoughts on it.

  39. I just hope that the remaster is respectful and not a brick as the last wave of GD remasters

  42. I'm not crazy about the first Network album either tbf but the new one just has way too much filler and seems likes there's only about 6 or 7 tracks that I can understand why they exist and why people like them. Most of the tracks I see no justification for their existence. And even a lot of the better tracks aren't tracks that I see myself coming back to much at all EDIT: Maybe that's slightly unfair since the lyrical content here is actually okay for the most part

  43. Yeah because when MM2020 Pt2 came out you only said it one time that you didn't like it.

  44. Well I don't think we're gonna agree on any of this. The quote also implies that Warning is your 2nd least favourite GD album and again, I completely disagree with that. Both Warning and RevRad have some of Green Day's best songs imo. And I'd definitely disagree that FOAMF is a return to form cause that's my least favourite of their albums I acknowledge that RevRad was a bit too safe to me but it still had great songs imo and not really any bad songs. Forever Now is definitely a sort of remaking of JoS so it's not their most creative track but I still really enjoy that track. The reprise of Somewhere Now is not just reusing a song out of laziness. I mean for the 21CB album they re-used Song of the Century at the start of American Eulogy (with different lyrics), and reused the intro to 21CB in See the Light and I liked those callbacks to the start of the album. I like the trilogy too but idk if you can really complain about RevRad's lyrics but not the trilogy lyrics. Or FOAM lyrics. I mean "I Was A Teenage Teenager"?

  45. I don't think someone who's been to rehab needs to be told that, whether it's what they went to rehab for or not.

  46. It’s a rare occassion when the Offspring song has a louder handclaps track than Green Day’s.
    1 point
  47. Yes, honestly I don’t think he makes the lyrics up completely now when he’s always been autobiographical. It’s never been just a schtick and I have no idea what the appeal of Green Day would be if it ever was. Would anyone care for Basket Case if it was written by someone who never experienced anxiety? So I don’t think it’s fair to assume these new songs are insincere, but there are some dark, complicated emotions that they elicit and it’s difficult to pick up on that, because on a surface level, some of these songs really do sound like “it’s so much fun to pretend I’m 20 lmao let’s party!!! drugs are so cool!!!”.
