What @Hermione said, and does anyone really think the NHL want a heart wrenching epic on the horrors of living in a pandemic or the possible deterioration of American democracy for part of their soundtrack? You may hate the song, fine, but remember the context of it.7 points

A silly tongue-in-cheek coke sniff sound effect in a song tells you this....ok I agree with @BillieMyLove. Just because the lyrics of a song aren't super serious and deep it doesn't mean they have no meaning. Although it's a light hearted song overall it does clearly contain meaning and a message imo. It's one song that isn't intended to be the most epic and deep song of their career. It's a fun, energetic and catchy one to dance/get pumped up to. Not every Green Day song is a goosebumps-inducing one lol, plenty that don't on every album. Why anyone would expect a random single released between albums for an NHL promotion which is most likely a leftover/b side from the previous album to outdo Jesus of Suburbia is beyond me.5 points

When you walk into a grocery store, and this song is playing and your mind immediately goes here. Also, I work for the city and was entering in a sanitation code violation request. One of the questions they ask is "Is there a squatter on the property?" Halfway through the sentence Tre's voice entered my head.5 points

I haven’t seen these before and I think you might enjoy too:4 points

That's the case with most rock bands at this point. Really it's just the fans that give a shit about their music. RevRad was better than the trilogy commercially so it was a sort of bounce back despite the falling status of rock in recent years. The fact is Green Day is never going to be a massive band again so yeah, considering these factors, RevRad was actually pretty good. No one should've expected any better from that album commercially It seems like you're kind of overreacting here a bit. Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems you were fine with everything Green Day was doing up until FOAM. Why not just wait to see what they do next? I'm sure HCTS is not an indication of what their next album will be. People can like this song if they want. People can hate the song if they want. I've been quite critical of this song but I'm not gonna just say "this is shit. Some fans here just like shit". Nobody's trying to convince others to like the songs. Idk why people think this single song is worth ranting about.4 points

Yeah, I've never seen a good chunk of those photos. They're all really lovely! This is a new one to me too and I like it a lot. Billie is dual-wielding those instruments.4 points

Okay so I was reading this article: https://blog.kicksta.co/the-fastest-way-to-get-your-disabled-instagram-account-back/ and I decided to go on twitter to see if I could message Instagram. To nobody's surprise, you can't But when I was searching for the account, I found instagram's PR team twitter. They had an email in their bio for reporters, and only 21.7k followers. I know its a longshot (you can laugh) but I think I found a legitimate chance. It's at least the most we can do for now. The email is press@fb.com Before any of you guys try emailing, I wanna wait and see if they email me back first. If they don't in 24 hours or so, I say go ahead. I think it's the best way to get their attention other than Green Day themselves working on the situation. I have a surprising amount of hope for this. ALSO I JUST FOUND OUT THAT SOMEONE WHO WAS DISABLED GOT THEIR ACCOUNT BACK TODAY!!! @greendaysidiot on Instagram. There's hope everyone!!!! I'm asking how they did it. I'll give you guys an update if they reply.4 points

I get this fear and can see where it comes from, because I agree that Green Day's recent output is... let's say... different , but at this point in their career, it's fine. As long as they're doing this, I'm going to listen and sometimes I'll like what they create and sometimes I won't, but they're a great band regardless. They don't seem to be interested in creating ambitious projects these days, instead they release music more often and it sounds like stuff they do for fun and if that's their biggest motivation to do things - of course the result is going to be different than when they purposefully aimed big.3 points
-
It just occurred to me that in some cases this almost sounds like fear, as in “I love this band, please don’t be done” or a version of. It’s been said already but all bands have peaks and troughs, there will be always be eras in a long career which appeal to some folk more than others.3 points

I’m glad he surfs, it’s great for cardio, muscle strength and balance - all things that help keep him in better shape longer for performing at the physical level that he does but also has to help with anxiety and depression too.3 points
-
That's one of the things I like most about it. I don't really like it when men have a super visible Adam's apple and it's nice that Billie barely has any indication of one. Unrelated, saw this the other day and love his eyes in it!3 points

The only meaning I get from HCTS is that there is a shark nearby and sniffing cocaine is the way to escape him.3 points

That polar bear statue was at one of the venues of a Longshot show. I remember someone gave him a crochet Billie doll and he stuck it in the mouth 😂2 points

I’m sure it’s just fear and then a mediocre song drops and it validates that fear, etc. One amazing song and the fear would be alleviated2 points
-
Look at those legs! 😍 @BillieMyLove that's a thing that helps him stay connected to surf board if I understand correctly.2 points
-
Also, I don't think it's like they're writing songs tailored to the NHL and forcing a change in sound or censoring themselves or whatever. It'll just be that when picking which songs/song ideas to go with for this project they picked the more upbeat and lighthearted ones that they had in the pile.2 points

lol wtf? if you think GD doesn't care you're blind. Why did they go to Crush then? Of course they care. And as i said before.. i don't. I'm concerned about them actually. They are doing coke or they consider coke cool. Both things are so wrong, they're either immature or worse, drug addicts. I hate when fans are so blind are not critical at all.. (and this is coming from a big fan, again, i traveled the world to see them. Seen them 4 times in 3 different countries, 2 continents so don't tell me i'm not a fan or anything like that). GD used to be a band akin to The Who. Now they're like a U2 or something like that, still great with a legacy but currently making mediocre music.2 points
-
It makes me laugh that people are so concerned about numbers, sales and popularity. Green Day themselves don't even care about that stuff. This is not a beauty contest, is about what this music do to you. Is ok of you don't like it or if you find it boring or bland. The thing is feeling something. Oh, this thing looks a BJ's rant on letterbomb THIS IS NOT A PARTY, THIS IS A CELEBRATION2 points

Omg that last one 😍😍😍 How have I never seen that pic before!! I love everything about it. So unbelievably gorgeous2 points

https://www.altpress.com/features/artists-with-surprising-riaa-certifications/ Green Day mention here. I won’t name the song if you want to be surprised2 points

Wasn't really towards you. Someone in here I noticed has waaaay too much time on their hands since its release day to say the same message worded different hating the song, most of us get it already ....you dislike it lol.2 points

You know, it says something when the one person claiming to genuinely like the song is trolling...2 points

Why the fuck they haven't played 21st Century Breakdown after 21CB tour finished? I remember it was on some shows setlist during 99 Revolutions Tour but for some reason it wasn't played. The song is GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD.2 points

I was talking about this with one of my interns the other day. There's been a lot of talk about people like her missing their last year of college, but not as much about people losing what "good" years they have left. I'm going to need a hip replacement after my next pit.2 points

Sorry if it seemed like my reply was targeted at you specifically. I'm not saying that you were saying "New GD is shit" or something. I get the topic of the discussion. It just seems like people are always saying this stuff like "GD is over", "New gd is shit, they should just quit", "Why do people just like shit music" etc. I've had complaints about FOAM and about this new track but it seems like this single track seems to have been the breaking point for some people and idk why. I'm sure this track isn't indicative of what's next to come from Green Day.1 point

Thought the same. Like the speculation that Fire Ready Aim would be a song about mass shootings. That's definitely NOT what the NFL wants for their videos 😅1 point
-
Thank you for all the news!!! Let us know how they did Also yesterday I found out they deativated another account I have where I use to post my GD collection, so it was all original content (photos of my collection) and the name was my_green_day_collection, so they don’t even see the content, it’s just I had Green Day in the nik 🙄🙄1 point
-
I get where you're coming from and I share your concerns but I have faith that they're not done making great music. I think their creative prime and peak was 21CB but that doesn't mean they didn't do phenomenal things after. Let's see what their next major release brings.1 point
-
It's nothing like that. Stop trying to find something deep. Not every song have a big meaning.1 point
-
not really. No one outside the fanbase cared for them since 21st and it's a fact. A sad one but it's a fact. They gave awesome shows (saw them 3 times the revrad tour) but nobody cared. "old " Rock bands that are doing ok are Muse, The Killers, Foo Fighters, compare the numbers, it's notable at least how much their popularity decreased. I'll repeat again in case i was misunderstood. I don't care about their commercial success but it's so obvious they do and are so frustrated about it (specially BIllie). It reminds me a lot of Rivers Cuomo circa 2009. When Rivers stopped caring about it, he made better music, the same would apply to GD i bet.. you're not getting it. They are not "taking risks"... they are not "evolving" and they do feel like geezers nowadays. They used to be everything you said but like a decade ago. I'm not pissed at them, i'm dissapointed. You think i'm one of those guys who just likes dookie or AI? lol i actually enjoy the trilogy and can listen to the 3 full albums. It's ok to like these songs but don't call this evolution, is as simple as it gets, it's like they're not even trying. Look at bands like Muse and Arctic Monkeys, they are trying shit, evolving and whatever. GD feels more in synthony with U2 or something like that. At least they're not like Coldplay or Maroon 5 that are completely sell outs i guess. And their "live game" is so strong but don't try to convince us these songs are so great and we don't have taste or something like that cuz it's the other way around. It's ok to criticize the band you love and in this case neccesary because again.. they're not doing anything wrong, they're just lazy and mediocre at best.. Still breathing is a great song and oh yeah was ok.. but neither of them went viral or something like that. Again, just ask anyone outside of the fanbase and wouldn't even know GD is active. i can't like this comment more. So true. Some fans here seem to be just like everything they do even if it's shit and i'm not a hater as you might think. Hell i traveled the whole world to see them and would do it again (if not for covid) . I just want them to be better because i know they can. Here comes the shark could have been written and performed by any punk band. GD always brought something extra to the table. Think of it like this... When you hear that song, do you have goosebumps? do you think any new fan can come from that song? Is it at the same height like boulevard of broken dreams , jesus of suburbia, forever now, etc?1 point

Just announced in California, that outdoor concerts can happen. But only open to California residents. Capicity depends on what tier the County is in. So not sure how this will effect the concert in July. Here's how it breaks down. Outdoor sports and live concerts Purple Tier Capacity will be limited to 100 people or less, and only people from the region will be allowed. Reservations will be required in advance. No concessions will be allowed. Red Tier Capacity will be limited to 20%, the department of health said. Concessions will be allowed, but while seated. In-state visitors will be allowed only. Orange Tier Capacity will be limited to 33%. In-state visitors will be allowed only. Yellow Tier Capacity will be limited to 67%, and in state visitors will be allowed only.1 point

I'm not crazy about the first Network album either tbf but the new one just has way too much filler and seems likes there's only about 6 or 7 tracks that I can understand why they exist and why people like them. Most of the tracks I see no justification for their existence. And even a lot of the better tracks aren't tracks that I see myself coming back to much at all EDIT: Maybe that's slightly unfair since the lyrical content here is actually okay for the most part1 point
-
Honestly same. I do love the second album but I like it way more than the first one. It has some great songs but it's not an album I really want to listen to front to back.1 point
-
I’m just throwing my 2 cents into the mix. If y’all love it, that’s great!1 point

lmao you haters still wasting time telling everyone how much you hate the song and how wrong we are for liking the song. Sounds like a good way to spend a Friday!1 point

This is going to sound bitchy but it’s genuinely not. What meaning/message are you picking up on? Because I’m reading the lyrics while listening to it again and I still can’t pinpoint the subject matter. I don’t think it’s entirely out of reach but man, that’s sad to think about that you’re probably right. Rock just ain’t as big as it used to be. I’d argue that’s why it’s even more important that the output be good. It being a rando single as filler between albums still isn’t a great excuse for putting out sub-par work (again, just my opinion). And it’s just a shame after that Network record was so good.1 point
-
They can release anything they want from now on and that's great! It would just be more great if the song were good.1 point

The best comments under this song on Youtube: I feel like this’s a Nickelodeon show theme song The song is so bad that the band didn't even bother showing up for the video. This sounds like an auto generated Green Day song So true 😂 omg this song is bad.1 point

I have listened to this song about 2-3 times since its release. I just tried again. Nope. Really disappointed. It's the first new Green Day song that I don't put on repeat. Even Father of All... was always playing when they putted it out last year.1 point
