  1. The evolution of Green Day is fantastic and I am grateful for it. They are young and awesome and capable of so much and so much more. I applaud them for taking risks and leaving their peers in the dust. People the same age as them feel like geezers. Green Day def drank from the fountain of youth and I love the risks they take even if it pisses off their “old” fans. I feel like anyone who doesn’t want them to live life and change and evolve would basically like them to live in tombs or museums for amusement. I am glad they take risks and evolve and try new things. It shows they aren’t dinosaurs. I want them to live life and ultimately even fail sometimes. So what? It’s great.

  2. It’s my knees so not sure why I laughed 😄😄. Many people have missed out on loads but this hasn’t been as bad as it could have been and the vaccines are really helping so I think we just have keep on going. Re Billie Joe and the jumps, I agree, he has slowed a bit already to me, but it’s natural and he’s still got loads of energy and passion which is important so I‘ll still be watching. It’s the day I have to have a seat I don’t know how I’ll cope!

  3. I feel we go round this quite often and can see the different points of view but I put on the radio the other day to hear the young, female DJ say she was about to play a band who “unusually was evolving and keeping relevant” and played FOA, which sounded really good on the radio and amongst what she was playing.

  5. This is going to sound bitchy but it’s genuinely not. What meaning/message are you picking up on? Because I’m reading the lyrics while listening to it again and I still can’t pinpoint the subject matter. I don’t think it’s entirely out of reach but man, that’s sad to think about that you’re probably right. Rock just ain’t as big as it used to be. I’d argue that’s why it’s even more important that the output be good. It being a rando single as filler between albums still isn’t a great excuse for putting out sub-par work (again, just my opinion). And it’s just a shame after that Network record was so good.

  6. RevRad was actually okay in terms of commercial success. Better than the trilogy and better than FOAMF. Any metrics in which the trilogy performed better than RevRad can be explained by the time period it was released; a period in which album sales were higher & streaming accounted for less. RevRad's streaming numbers are far better than the 3 trilogy albums, partially due to it being released in a time where streaming was more significant and partially due to the fact that the album was received better by fans. The streaming gap is only growing more over time between the two projects Green Day are not going to get to the success of American Idiot or Dookie again. They probably won't even have another 21st Century Breakdown level commercial success again. But that doesn't mean that the albums are going to be poorly received by critics and fans. I'm optimistic that the band still has a lot of great songs and albums to release. I don't think the performance of this one song is an indicator of where they're heading. It wasn't really promoted, it's not an album single. It's basically like the Xmas Time of the Year track of this era and we all know that track wasn't anything special either. Just something small between albums to keep some people happy.

  7. revrad sold nearly 1 Million copies, I wouldn‘t consider it a flop in these times, when rock musik doesn‘t sell as much as it did 20 years ago..

  8. I was talking about this with one of my interns the other day. There's been a lot of talk about people like her missing their last year of college, but not as much about people losing what "good" years they have left. I'm going to need a hip replacement after my next pit.

  9. Okay so I was reading this article: https://blog.kicksta.co/the-fastest-way-to-get-your-disabled-instagram-account-back/ and I decided to go on twitter to see if I could message Instagram. To nobody's surprise, you can't But when I was searching for the account, I found instagram's PR team twitter. They had an email in their bio for reporters, and only 21.7k followers. I know its a longshot (you can laugh) but I think I found a legitimate chance. It's at least the most we can do for now. The email is press@fb.com Before any of you guys try emailing, I wanna wait and see if they email me back first. If they don't in 24 hours or so, I say go ahead. I think it's the best way to get their attention other than Green Day themselves working on the situation. I have a surprising amount of hope for this. ALSO I JUST FOUND OUT THAT SOMEONE WHO WAS DISABLED GOT THEIR ACCOUNT BACK TODAY!!! @greendaysidiot on Instagram. There's hope everyone!!!! I'm asking how they did it. I'll give you guys an update if they reply.

  10. Why the fuck they haven't played 21st Century Breakdown after 21CB tour finished? I remember it was on some shows setlist during 99 Revolutions Tour but for some reason it wasn't played. The song is GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD.

  11. The best comments under this song on Youtube: I feel like this’s a Nickelodeon show theme song The song is so bad that the band didn't even bother showing up for the video. This sounds like an auto generated Green Day song So true 😂 omg this song is bad.

  14. I think the most frustrating part about all of this is that we can't really do anything. I've been reading all these articles and watching all these videos, but all but one or two of Instagram's support forms for disabled accounts aren't working. I've tried almost every day since my account was disabled and every time it says "we are trying to fix the problem." Bullshit. All the stuff that is actually supposed to help isn't even working. It's been almost two weeks. I feel like I'm being laughed at by Instagram. I don't even know what to do anymore. Why have all these appeal forms if they aren't going to work? Is anybody else having these problems, or are they just not working for me? This is so much unessecary stress, and I feel like its going nowhere. I already have enough on my plate. Instagram seriously needs to do fucking better. They take down innocent accounts but not people who are actually harassing others. Their support system is so bad, its painful.

  15. Honestly same. I do love the second album but I like it way more than the first one. It has some great songs but it's not an album I really want to listen to front to back.

  16. Yeah thats why I said it "probably" wouldn't reach 21CB success. Definitely won't rule it out though. I'd love to be shown wrong though. Also, the fact that RevRad did as well as it did in 2016 though despite the falling status of rock music is another reason why I consider it more successful than the trilogy. Rock music was still quite well known in 2012 which makes the trilogy even more of a disappointment commercially. I still don't get why the Network album is so beloved here. I listened to it recently and despite a couple decent tracks, I'm not seeing it It's almost as if he's a hypocrite... But that couldn't be, right? Seriously though, all of Eric's posts are the exact same lol

  19. They can release anything they want from now on and that's great! It would just be more great if the song were good.

  20. As far as I'm concerned, RevRad and FOAM both have one song that I feel was crafted for radio, Still Breathing and Oh Yeah, respectively. I think they're still pushed to create hits with crossover appeal, but that's no problem because they're good at it and the songs still have heart. Here Comes The Shock, on the other hand, doesn't feel like it would fit anywhere on modern radio.

  21. The band is going to make the music they want and pick the producer/mixer/ect. to fit the sound they want at this point. A 30+ year career in this business is rare. Again, rock is not the chart topper it was in the early 2000’s. Someday rock will prevail over the masses again. and I’m out because all this does is make a circle argument. ✌🏻

  22. You definitely are not alone in that. I think Billie has a wonderful neck! There's just something about it. It's very... elegant? I've also noticed that his neck seems to be longer than average - or it looks that way. The boy got a giraffe neck! 🦒 If you think about it, creatures with longer necks are often viewed as prettier or more graceful.

  23. Billie was 47 when they announced the Hella Mega tour it looks like he’s gonna be 50 by the time they play it 😢

  24. That’s what comes from being a monopoly. They literally don’t have to answer to anyone and don’t care. Where else are you gonna go?

  25. Yeah the streaming world is weird and has no relation to radio or any other type of success measure. The real crime is how many streams an artists needs to make any kind of money, a fraction of what equals physical sales

  26. Well here's the link to my review if you wanna know why I like it. But it just may not be your taste, and that's totally okay!

  30. His neck is gorgeous, I really love his neck. 😍😍😍I love that he has a visible Adam’s apple, but not too much.

  31. I agree, everything on him is perfect 😍 Loving all of the Billie pics on here lately. Something I've realized recently is how attractive his neck is. Is it weird to find his neck attractive? Someone tell me I'm not the only one who thinks this 😄

  32. You're clearly not getting my point., as I said, I rather them have an album like revrad (commercial flop) but i'ts a damn good album and not an intent of being a top 40 artist (foam) and i'm not just talking about here comes the shark.. i'm talking about everything that came since foam. It's not a bad album but it's bland and yeah, the production isn't helping and i'm a huge Butch Walker fan so i don't know if it's his fault. Of course i'll continue to listen to them and be at least a bit excited for their new releases but come on, we don't want them to turn into a nostalgia act since they have so much pottential. They are young and capable of something more, they have proven time and time again they're one of the bests. These days they seem to be like Aerosmith was in the 90s but even they had commercial success so idk..

  33. I put radio in quotes for a reason. Im well aware of how music is consumed these days. They didn’t promote it because it was for the NhL - who held exclusive rights to its release. A career ebs and flows. They’re not going to be huge all of the time. They’re still going to tour (when able again) and still going to make the music they want to. their management has no influence on the songs and we can’t - in my mind - really judge crush because the first release with them was scuttled due to covid. And I would never put a bands success on who their managers are. They are gate keepers, time managers and negotiators. I will continue to listen to this band regardless of their “Top 40” status. As I’ve said before, I will listen, absorb and judge what they release and whether it goes “viral” or number 1 for weeks makes no difference to me. at least they are still making new music and still the same 3 members they have been since 1990. Many bands aren’t.

  34. most people consume music through streaming platforms though, not the radio. And sure, you're right but then again.. MGK's last album (pseudo pop punk) was number 1. Clearly something's happening in regards of popularity and it didn't bothered me before (rev rad era), but it does now because it seems like it's affecting their performance and stuff. I mean they even fired their whole career manager, that was a dumb move in my opinion and well, crush isn't helping as we thought it would, i'm pretty dissapointed in this era, mostly because i know they still have the spark for great songs (graffitia is a great example) but it looks like something is in the way of their success. They need to step up their game or they'll perish like some other big bands did

  36. No, I wasn’t comparing it to other Green Day songs but I was just curious with all the criticism whether it was doing a little worse or a lot worse. I’m actually surprised it’s gotten as many plays as it has. Many of us admit we stopped listening to it pretty soon after it came out. And since the consensus on The Network music is so positive and TLM was performed on Fallon and is their other most recent output (but definitely not Green Day 😜), I wanted to see how they compared.

  37. I mean it's just a random song put out between albums for a sports promotion. It's not like it's a lead new album single or whatever. Not a good one to judge much from imo.

  39. Very cool! These would look great with my holy Green Day candles.

  40. It might have a bit but other than the tracks from the Trans Am EP, the rest of the album tracks range from 40k-100k streams. TLM wasn’t noticeably higher (I’m not on my PC to check now but it wasn’t super high)

  44. Green Day have written quite a lot about feeling isolated and I think that's something that near everyone has been feeling for the past year. And with how the world is politically right now, I can see Green Day's next album being one of their bests lyrically if they play their cards right
    1 point
  45. Yes, this. Somewhere Now and Forever Now were fantastic and I personally think that their Who'esque / more classic rock sound has always been their best, they are so incredibly good at it. So I kind of hope that in the future, that's where they're going, a more mature, experimental, maybe even prog rock direction. One can dream I also loved the Back In The USA style and thought, wow, now they're onto something. Political, ironic, but in a lighter, funnier way than 21CB. But then they took a turn onto party highway again, not my favourite Green Day street, ah well. I still liked most songs on FOAM though. These guys definitely know how to surprise us. Anything is possible.

  46. we played for the last 30 years, and now we can do whaterver we want, also we create the songs much faster. and i think that is the wrong aproach. i hope they stop singing about tennage and high school shits. and evolve from somewhere now that is the more mature song on the last 3 records.
    1 point
  47. I actually really like the trilogy & RevRad and parts of FOAM. But I don't want them to just recreate those albums I'm fine with them taking their time making an album if it creates a great album. I just want a really good album
