  1. It’s cool to see Billie writing reviews in Rolling Stone. Hope to see more of this in the future! https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/billie-joe-armstrong-brontez-purnell-white-boy-music-album-1129031/

  2. Oh wow this is really cool! So now that he's become a writer maybe there is still hope he'll write his memoir too

  3. You all know by now that I will never pass up an opportunity to post this picture. And what better reason to do it than for the birthday of the most amazing, beautiful, talented, kind, smart, loyal, and hard working person to ever grace the universe. Happy birthday, Billie! I love you so much! And here are other cake pics too because we gotta have 'em.

  6. A little bit of Lenny in my life, a little bit of Tre Cool by my side, a little bit of Jason is all I need, a little bit of Mike Dirnt is all I see, a little bit of Kevin in the sun, a little bit of Kevin all night long, a little bit of Adrienne here I am, a little bit of you makes me your man.

  7. Yes I want to be his Editor but I love that he’s still trying new things (reminds me of 2014 when he did tons of new things during his forced year off). This kind of writing is clearly a challenge for him but a cool read, you can tell an artist wrote it —someone who has a hard time corralling his thoughts into a singular coherent narrative. It’s not like lyric writing, which is closer to poetry. It is funny that we were just wondering if he would write his memoirs. This at least shows he has some interest in other kinds of writing. I wonder if this artist is included in the Golden Bull beach party that’s coming. That would explain the random review. The song they include at the end is a total bop

  8. This proves he can do well with a competent editor (remember the article he once wrote for the Financial Times? This is heaps better.)

  9. Posted it in the fangirls thread, but I will post it here too because it is objectively the best photo involving cake ever to be taken. Happy birthday, Billie!

  10. I feel you. It's like losing him. When he was on Instagram, even if he wasn't posting that frequently, there was at least that presence - knowing he was there. Of course he's still there even if we're not seeing him on social media, but not having that connection makes missing him so much more intense during the silence between Green Day projects. Especially during a pandemic where we can barely have the social connections with anyone that we used to. Billie doesn't owe any of us anything and if he doesn't want to be on social media anymore (or at least for a good long while) that's his choice and I completely respect it. That doesn't mean I don't miss him terribly and think about how he's doing, though.

  16. Yes, the only thing of any importance on February 17th is Billie Joe Armstrong's birthday. Everything else is trivial. This is a scientific fact.

  17. So great to see so much love for Billie! Adrienne hasn't posted in like a million years so it was particularly special to see hers. I still really miss Billie himself, though. I hope his account isn't permanently deleted now.

  20. Punk’s 10 greatest guitarists of all time: 10. Billie Joe Arsmtrong (Green Day) We thought we’d start off with a controversial pick and bring you Green Day’s own Billie Joe Armstrong as our first contender. Though likely to be derided by punk purists who think the genre ended in 1978, Armstrong along with Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt brought punk rock to a new generation. The band’s seminal album Dookie is undoubtedly a modern masterpiece of puerile boredom and much of that is down to Armstrong’s uncensored stance on the modern world. It’s a sure-footed stance that he brings to guitar-playing too, thrashing with the precision intensity of a pneumatic drill. https://faroutmagazine.co.uk

  29. It's true he lives for the intimacy. Previously, in times where they were not on tour, he would take to social media to connect to the fans for that intimacy and now he doesn't even have that outlet. I hope he's okay but I really miss him in this absence more than any of the other times. For some reason the silence is deafening this time.

  30. The album is 90 minutes long and contains speeches. All three guys have their own songs where they tell "real stories" with sarcasm. There is elevator type of music in the background of every song. The last song is a classic Green Day song, but it suddenly ends after the 1st pre-chorus and the album ends. After this in a interviwe, Billie Joe will say that this will be their sound for the next 10 years, but album 15 is a 90 minutes long death metal album.

  31. I want the album to be terrible. Like a movie that's so bad it's good. Think Troll 2 or The Room. Just the poopiest sounding record ever.

  32. I like BJ’s writing style, you can almost hear him say a lot of that, he does need a little bit of an edit though but that could be just the times on online nature of the review. I like the song embedded in the article and it made me think of The Roches, had a similar chaotic vibe for me, I quite liked it.

  34. we played for the last 30 years, and now we can do whaterver we want, also we create the songs much faster. and i think that is the wrong aproach. i hope they stop singing about tennage and high school shits. and evolve from somewhere now that is the more mature song on the last 3 records.

  37. If You Were Born Today, February 17: You are a responsible, success-oriented, and driven person who rises to almost any challenge that comes your way. Your staying power is tremendous, and others are generally in awe of your ability to overcome obstacles. Your professional life is extremely important to you. It would be best if you were careful that your worldly ambitions don’t take over your life. Others admire you for your cool and collected approach to the world, and although you enjoy this reputation, it can come at a price–you don’t always open your heart to others and might feel alone even if people surround you. Famous people born today: Rene Russo, Lou Diamond Phillips, Michael Jordan, Denise Richards, Billie Joe Armstrong, Paris Hilton, Margaret Truman, Dominic Purcell, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Lucy Davis, Hal Holbrook, Sasha Pieterse. Throwback to simpler times/birthdays...🥰
