If it wasn't already clear, this proves how much of a nerd I am: I was looking up pictures of different species of slime mold sporangia (spore capsules) and found a really gorgeous one, Diachea leucopodia, and looked up a sightings map to see if I could find it around where I live. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to occur in Washington. The nearest sighting was Vancouver, BC. I did notice that there was a dot indicating a place in California, though, and zoomed in on the map. The sighting turned out be at a huge park right in Oakland and I let out an audible squeal when I saw that. So two of the most beautiful organisms in existence reside in Oakland - Billie Joe and this slime mold. This is what the thing looks like btw:5 points

I agree! There are some great FOAM performances. The Game Awards is definitely one of them. With every appearance the band did, the performances just got better and better, which is why I was excited to see footage from HM. I figured they would have the songs locked down at that point. I feel like Billie has been working on his falsetto because they're so much better on MM2020. Like holy shit he nails it. They're okay on FOAM, but not the best. I feel like at this point he's got the hang of it.4 points

Wuzzup bitches. Best thread I could think to throw this in. Hope all are well.4 points

Yes, I got total Warning era vibes from his whole look. Not my favorite, but Billie is Billie and any hairstyle is better than his hobo look or the dreads. 😖 Here's an unrelated picture just because it's very sweet.4 points

Had a dream this morning that I was in California for one of the small shows (not sure if it was GD, the Longshot, or what; Billie and Kevin were the only two I noticed there). It was kind of a block party atmosphere, but also kind of the NYE vibe too; sometimes people had coats on, other times it was sunny and people were dressed for summer. I had the ability to rewind moments and move to find a better position and rewatch things. There was one point when Kevin was the only one onstage, and apparently my subconscious thinks he's gained weight, because the review I was holding (since technically the show had already happened) described him as hefty (thought how I needed to show that to @The Grohl at that point ). Only other thing I'll say is there were a couple B/K moments in there.3 points

I wonder how people would have judged the falsetto vocal if they had heard Degenerate before FOA. He really hit the sweet spot there where it sounds soulful and funky and not silly3 points

I just saw this again too it was one of my favorite performances of that time they killed it. You can tell they know it too the way Billie smiles and they swagger off3 points

Today I was listening to the Foo Fighters' excellent studio live performance on SiriusXM and it made me think: As much as I like to complain about Green Day's lack of live material (live EPs/albums or DVDs) in recent years, in many ways we've actually been rather lucky. I say this because with Bullet In A Bible we got a truly great live album that properly incapsulates their live sound. Their performance was top notch, the mixing and mastering is excellent and though (rather annoyingly) slightly incomplete, the setlist is also fairly decent, all things considered. Yes, I'd probably give a kidney for another proper live album, recorded in a club or mid-sized venue and preferably featuring loads of deep cuts (either from the 90s or early 2000s or even later, such as the House Of Blues 2015 performance etc.), but it's still great to have absolutely stunning live recordings of songs like American Idiot, Jesus of Suburbia, Hitchin' A Ride, Holiday, Minority, Basket Case, Brain Stew etc. The reason I also say we're lucky is because many otherwise great live bands have either no live album or some pro-produced material that is either badly mixed, recorded years after the band's peak or just features a very limited/odd selection of songs. The Foo Fighters are a great example of this. Staggeringly, they have no "normal" live album, just an acoustic live album from 2006, as well as two badly/weirdly mixed DVD performances from Hyde Park and Wembley Stadium, none of which fully incapsulate their live sound. Sure, those recordings are still a nice addition to their studio work, but anyone who has every seen the Foo Fighters live knows they'd deserve a proper live album. The mix of the SiriusXM performance from around 5 days ago actually represents the kind of heavy sound/mix that truly makes them shine. Great mix aside, they also sound the best they have in years! But all I can think about while listening to it is: "wow, that sounds really great, so why the hell did they never release a proper live album?" Of course, the other thing I can't help but thinking is "man, I reeeaaally miss live shows!". And I know a lot of you must be feeling similar. So, here's to (hopefully) a better 2021 and let's all hope we can get into the pit again at some point3 points

Could be any Billie related band though likely based upon the one that is most logistically possible2 points

I think it sounds good in FOAm but rrreeeaaaalllly good in Degenerate, give me shivers 😜2 points

I think Degenerate is a better song than FOAM, but I just don't see a big difference in the falsetto. It sounds good in both imo.2 points

I think there were some great performances around FOA. I get people don’t like falsetto, fine, but don’t write off the whole performance because of it. I think Billie has really perfected his falsetto on MM2020, not that it’s related of course, and I think we may hear more.2 points

And it looks like Amazon will have it available as well https://www.amazon.com/Insomniac-25th-Anniversary-2LP-Green/dp/B08PXD247K/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3LAEA70YDJHUJ&dchild=1&keywords=green+day+insomniac+vinyl&qid=1612988210&sprefix=green+day+insom%2Caps%2C163&sr=8-1 No word on whether this version is also orange. It's not mentioned anywhere in the description. I would guess so since GD's store doesn't have a regular version listed. *Looking again, the description on GD's store and on 1234 GO mentions colored vinyl, while Amazon does not. So, be wary. I'll just keep my Warner order for now unless Amazon confirms that this is indeed the orange version.1 point

Now we’re assuming he recorded Degenerate later because they released it later but we don’t even know if that’s the case which is interesting. He could just have chosen FOA because he thought it was a better album track for that project. They were likely the same session.1 point

Slime molds aren’t from this world and they spook me to no end You have no business having basic problem solving skills when you have no brain! What else are you hiding from us?1 point

It’s not botox, he’s just naturally a @pouty bitch On a related note, I had a dream that BJA got cancelled because he was caught parking at a spot reserved for people with disabilities1 point

I don't usually dream at all, but last night I got a "conversation" with a pissed BJ in 1997 Me: So, Billie, why your lips are so big? Did you do botox? BJ: What's wrong with ya? Technology messed you up?1 point

A sad and funny news. https://www.facebook.com/CompleteHockeyNews/posts/3540927712700733 Bell Media is dropped TSN 1290 in Winnipeg, TSN 1040 in Vancouver and TSN 1150 in Hamilton this morning with little to no warning, moving away from all sports radio. Vancouver’s cut off mid-broadcast and immediately followed it up by playing Green Day’s Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life).1 point

Yeah I'm usually not the biggest fan of his hair all combed back like this too and prefer it more fluffy. But in this video, I don't know, it just works so well and it's so nice to see his pretty face. Maybe it's also because hairdressers are closed in Germany since December because we're on lockdown and everyone's running around looking like shit, so it's just so refreshing to see that something called a hairstyle actually exists1 point
