They make a lot of music that's best performed by more than three people now. Thanks to having the extra guys they can have two guitar parts and extra instruments. It allows them more freedom in the music they make/perform and as far as the sound goes it's the opposite of watered down, it beefs it up. If you've seen them live in the last decade and a half you'll know that the extra guys don't detract from Billie Mike and Tre or the way the three interact at all, they mostly just do their thing in the background and when they do get any spotlight (eg Jason Freese having an epic sax/kazoo battle with Billie or the odd time Jason White gets to shine on guitar) it adds to the show. Six people playing music best played by six people is no more "contrived" than three people playing music best played by three people, it's just musicians playing a show.8 points

You joke about pitch, but I think I actually just stumbled upon a REAL leaked Network song!6 points

Wow, I’m just catching up on this now coming out of the weekend and work. What?!? I am shocked! I was definitely on the hill- the musicianship and sound (not to mention the hardest part to replicate, the vocals) had all the signatures to my ear. And while some of you were skeptical and had sniffed it out, which raised some doubt in my mind for sure, I still ended up convinced. I figured my ear was good and since I’d been a rabid (to put it mildly) fan since ‘94 I’d know when I heard them. Especially since I have been playing music myself since ‘95 since being inspired by them I’ll be the first to admit, I was wrong and am still shocked about it! And kudos to you guys who were suspicious and pointed out why days ago. I’m super impressed. I thought it was paranoia but you all heard something I didn’t. Well done and again, I’m really impressed. And I’m actually not disappointed at the end of the day. Sure, I would’ve loved for this to be GD as it’s an awesome song. But it’s an eye opener- there’s lots of great music and bands out there and maybe I need to look harder for them, since without this fake I would’ve never found this one. And they’re good. And I’m super glad it wasn’t a band doing anything nefarious or trying to spoof the Network (like the panicland episode that seems to have taught this forum so well. love, Not always but usually right, so keep that in mind going forward, Timmy Chunks, roadie hall of fame. ps- it’s been fun to be dragged back into the forum by this. And now we have a vaccine candidate = tour. Let’s go!6 points

"started the anti-ventriloquism league liberating hundreds of helpless dummies from their tormentors" So is this Fink's view when he took Billie's puppet from him?5 points

You guys are getting weird without me! Corey Talor is Fink. Taylor Swift is The Snoo. Robert Trujillo is Van Gough. Ice Cube is Z. Kid Rock is Captain Underpants. Steve Buscemi is Balducci.5 points

I'm all for more musicians onstage, especially if they're as awesome as the guys in "The Big Three" (props to those who know the reference)! If you watch Bullet In A Bible, you'll see these guys aren't just great musicians but they're cool as hell. And Jason and Billie go way back—he's been playing with Green Dy consistently since The Warning tour (and appears in the When I Come Around video). Let's not forget, Green Day have had other musicians on stage in the past. Horn players during the Nimrod tour and several others during the first leg of the AI tour. All of this adds to the live experience.5 points

Is a symphony orchestra watered down and contrived because of the number of musicians playing individual parts? Green Day’s music has gotten more complex as they’ve evolved and they deliberately write multiple guitar parts and keyboards to give songs texture and depth, not water them down. Three chord punk songs only need three players. They’ve branched out quite a bit from that formula since as early as 1997 and need more musicians onstage to recreate the studio sound. I would rather that than have pre-recorded tracks onstage and three players which is what some bands do. At least it’s all live.5 points

...how hard would it be to break into one of those and get that? Just uh....asking for a friend... >_>4 points

Things we definitely do know about Green Day: Living. Thus Fink cannot be anyone from Green Day. Case closed.4 points

Green Day's classic single 'Holiday' has just hit Silver certification in the UK. That's equal to 200,000 sales, which is a big old milestone. https://www.rocksound.tv/news/read/green-days-classic-track-holiday-is-now-certified-silver-in-the-uk4 points

Then why doesn't this fame-chasing Billie Joe Armstrong step up and say that he's Fink, huh? Because they're not the same person. And in that picture, it show that Billie's blond, and Fink has black hair. Not the same person.4 points

So, for clarity's sake, you came on this thread, where we're discussing a band you don't like, so that you could tell us not to discuss said band? You do you, man.4 points

Why does Fink LOOK like the non living? Also, the vow of silence and him being from Switzerland proves that he isn't anybody from Green Day.3 points

🤯🤯🤯 my mind is blown. This is literally a masterpiece! I knew they would follow their past work with something as grand as this! And already TWENTY NINE MILLION views! Not surprised, considering their fame.3 points

No way some old man is better than FINK!! Don't confuse that rando to him! Show me video evidence and I will believe. You don't have? Yeah.3 points

The first time I saw Billie's HAR shenanigans was when I got BIAB for Christmas. I had no idea it was coming and I quickly had to mute the TV because my mom was in the next room! If only she knew the smut she just gifted me3 points

Holy Crap, they aren't wearing masks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHOA! So you can make a Green Day, I mean Network song just by taking any piece of music and up-pitching it. We've discovered the formula. This is insane. Why would we listen to any song at regular pitch ever again? Other than Rodeo Queens, The Network are the only band that matters. What happens if someone dared to up-pitch The Network? Would it reveal the meaning of life? Or destroy the multiverse? Nah, I'm not going to do it. I'm not worthy. But who is?3 points

The addition musicians at their shows are what made them more successful. I've thought about this a lot. We've got to bring up Blink-182 for a second. Their self titled 2003 record is one of their best, and it contains a LOT of instruments beyond the three piece band. While Blink-182 are one of the worst live bands around (I love them anyway), it was even more pronounced once they started making big, epic records like that. They went out with just the three of them and the new songs sounds terrible. Sometimes it would just be Mark and Tom doing acapella because the music wasn't made by guitars and drums. Or Tom would strike a chord every other verse, YIKES! Now, Green Day had had the touring band for a while. But when American Idiot came out, I knew they would need more than an extra guitar player to recreate these songs on stage. Think what Boulevard of Broken Dreams would sound like with nothing but guitar and drums. It would be a different song. I think there may have even been an article about this. Where Blink-182 made a big record that they couldn't perform live, Green Day made a great record and brought the Big Three along with them to make it come to life on stage and pop. This was part of the reason American Idiot was so huge. Would it have done so well if the the promotional tour was three guys on stage, struggling and failing to replicate the songs? Or playing with a ton of backing tracks and risk being called out for it? Nope. I like the big, over the top Green Day. and we can't have those giant, epic songs without a big band. I'm even in the camp of making them all official. We need more Green Day to love. On topic, The Network started with five members and a touring Balducci. I welcome him to the band and actually hope we get MORE Network members. If the 3 piece Green Day doubled to make it big, the Network need to outdo them and TRIPLE. 15 member Network for the win.3 points

Their past tours (at least since AI) have never had more than 6 on stage: Tre Mike Billie Jason White Jason Freese Jeff Matika Kevin Preston (replaced Matika) So, apparently it's bad to add more talented musicians to a live set... ok. got it. I guess I'm a watered down fan because I enjoy the 6-piece live band. Who knew. Well isn't that ironic... don'tcha think?3 points

My type is Mr. Billie Joe Armstrong. The facade of a bad, pretty boy on the outside, but a very good boy on the inside. Floofy haired, green eyed, goofball dork. I could go on for paragraphs about him, but I'll stop there. He's just perfect! I love all of him including his flaws.3 points

Honestly, all I always knew is who are Billie, Mike and Tré. But I knew Jason and Chris Dugan were involved (just no which member) and I don't know Reto Peter. Thanks for clarify👍3 points

Don't have my copy of Money Money 2020 anymore but Balducci (Jason) was not in the liner notes nor was he pictured in the jewel case insert. He was also not in any of the music videos (until now). His appearances were strictly the 4 live shows. Edit: For those who may not already know, Z is Chris Dugan and Captain Underpants is Reto Peter. My apologies if this is common knowledge to 90% of you but I know there are many out there who were not around for the first record3 points

Seeing as they put those up like a year ago, I think I'd be standing there a long time. I think I've only seen two of these, this one and one in Wicker Park.2 points

I still think they picked the bands they did for Hella Mega because of Crush. They're all on the same label, so it makes sense.2 points

You have a point there. This Network things keeps getting more and more mysterious. Maybe we'll never know who they are.2 points

Hmm I don't think so. Otherwise I probably couldn't stand The Network That changes everything. Now the comparisons to Green Day are even more unfounded.2 points

I think there’s a very simple explanation for Billie shining some glory on TUT, we know what a music fan he is and here’s a great song by one of his buddies brother’s band, he was probably happy to bring it to folk’s attention.2 points
