For years ago today I saw Green Day at the Aragon Ballroom! Such an amazing show that I almost missed out on. Luckily, an amazingly sweet Green Day fan saved the day!
I wanted to share some of my favorite photos from the show
(That's the money shot right there)
The Longshot = amazing. I hope there’s more soon.
Billie solo project = great.
Happy for the covers this year.
No Fun Monday’s were/are a real treat. We are so spoiled! Love it.
With the Longshot and No Fun Mondays, I think we are hearing Billie's base style.
Sure, it's hard to tell where Green Day end and Billie Joe begins, but there is a difference.
In the band, the guitar tones are harder, more serious. The music is produced to a certain level and perfected, whereas Billie alone is more reckless and fun loving.
🤔 I gotta start getting more UPS deliveries... Ooo that also means Kevin would be wearing brown shorts.
...the (p)leather shorts would look better though.
Yes The Longshot was really his solo debut. I would amend @That Dude 's comment by saying too bad for all the new releases we got this year, more than twice as many were covers than originals. If you consider the first three singles to be 2019 releases, we got seven new originals in 2020 and 15 covers (14 NFM songs plus Dreaming)
Thanks! They're from album anniversary sets I did on Tumblr:

The American Idiot set is my favorite:

I did ones for Uno, Warning, and Insomnaic too.
What an interesting question! I saw Genesis in 1989 with Phil Collins fronting and drumming for a good bit, he did have someone drum for him some of the time, and it was a really great show but I can’t think of any other band with a drummer/frontman, it must be so difficult to do. I suppose Billie may not have developed into the frontman he is today but also think GD really became GD when Tre joined so would lose something without him.
A random thought that I often have when I see Billie play the drums- I wonder how his career would've panned out if he had been a drummer rather than a lead singer?
And here's my favourite picture of him on the drums:
