  1. Yeah the Trilogy is the first project where it was clear Billie was doing all vocals on the record. Billie always did backing vocals but along with other people so it never was so obvious in the past. I remember hearing Uno for the first time and that was the first thing I noticed and this remains one of my biggest pet peeves about the post 21cb albums. It worked for The Longshot and it works for other bands and solo records but if you know the body of Green Day's work it just comes off as phony but I can understand the decision. It probably took Mike a long time to track backing vocals and now that they've moved from large multi-room studios to Otis and single room personal studios they don't want to spend a day watching Mike struggle with it especially when Billie is one of the fastest vocal trackers in rock history. One thing that was great about FOAM was that Butch Walker did some vocals so it breaks up that trend they were on. Butch obviously is familiar with Green Day's old music cause his backing vocals were slotting right in where Mike would be on like 39/Smooth. I don't care for Butch as a producer and in my opinion he's probably learned more from Green Day than they've learned from him but he did do a great performance on those vocals.

  5. Not really which is sad. Some of the best parts of an album like 39 smooth was Mike's backing vocals. He sounds great with Billie. Butch Walker did some on the last record and I thought he did a great job.

  7. Honestly it seems like Billie is the only one who’s still creatively involved, but he’s not pushing himself out of his comfort zone.

  10. Yup, January 18, 1984. Yup, we always had goldens when I was growing up. They're the best. ❤ ETA Billie and a retriever.

  11. Kind of the same in Chicago depending on what neighborhood you're in. If that was a restaurant near Wrigley Field that would be cheap as hell 😂

  13. I have one goal during quarantine and it’s going pretty well. I’m subliminally turning one of my friends into a Green Day fan. She now knows some songs and albums and know certain lyrics. I even got her to say that Billie is good looking! She doesn’t realize my goal yet and for that I am glad.

  14. Most recent post was yesterday and before that three days ago. They’ve been posting all along. The posts coincide closely with the actual gig dates but not exactly (that date of the 21st refers to the diary not the date posted)

  15. Sometimes I genuinely do feel that Billie and maybe Tre are the only ones who give a shit anymore. Mike seems to have checked out years ago. He just doesnt seem passionate about any of this anymore and the last albums have kinda shown

  16. The thing about that one is that I'll never get over how much he looks like AI era Billie there. Like, I would just assume it was from 2005 or something if Jason didn't look like he does now and Kevin weren't there. So crazy!

  17. I'm used to those kinds of prices in Seattle so the price didn't shock me at all. I actually looked at that and thought "Ooh! A drink AND pizza for $10? Score!"

  23. Hey, I'm not a morning person. If someone wants to have fun in the morning, I gotta get my coffee first. So Billie better make a note of that.

  28. Reading a recent ESPN article about the NHL's return to play and Steve Mayer, an NHL executive, made a pretty amusing and rather obvious veiled reference to Green Day's obscenities at the 2020 All Star Game: ESPN: The NHL said there will be a five-second delay on the broadcast to catch obscenities and other language. You've said in the past that there would be more "24/7," behind-the-scenes footage of players airing before and during games. How careful are you going to be about language in those segments? Mayer: When it's appointment viewing and it's an "all-access" show, we've had no issue with them being uncensored. But for our games -- especially given some of the times of these games this year, playing all day long -- it's really important that families watch and kids watch. We didn't want to have an issue. Now, of course, we're protecting our players. It's a joint decision between us and the NHLPA. It was everybody that made that decision, including the networks. With families watching, it doesn't seem right. We've gotten burned before -- like by musical artists. https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/29544868/how-nhl-games-look-sound-restart

  33. I don't see how that's relevant to the Billie part tbh. If Joey gets away with it/has less harsh consequences than a regular person would because he's rich then that sucks. And it's probably going to happen. But demanding to hear a statement from Billie has nothing to do with that. It's about the person who did something wrong, the only reason anyone wants to hear from his parent is because he's a famous parent whose band they're a fan of. And that isn't a good reason to demand it. Billie isn't getting away with anything, regular parents aren't blamed for or pressured to make public comments on their adult offspring's actions. Btw I'm not talking about people who are just wondering whether Billie will comment or think it could be helpful in some way etc. I'm talking about people harassing Joey's family members on social media and demanding that Billie needs to make a statement.

  34. Yeah it's like, trying to make it be about Billie/Green Day so it can be a thing that's part of your fandom and get entertainment from it. I also understand the curiosity but to be openly demanding it under the guise of it being something that's needed is kind of gross. I think people should step back and think about why they're asking for this.

  36. Nice cover OP! Couldn't agree more about the trilogy. It has sweet love songs, down and dirty party songs, sad and reflective songs. I love it. There's so many songs I love, Kill the DJ, Fell For You, Troublemaker, Fuck Time, Stop When the Red Lights Flash, Nightlife, Wow That's Loud, 8th Avenue Serenade, Missing You, X-Kid.... But my favourite is Brutal Love . One of the most beautiful songs I've heard.
