  1. Now and then I'll go on a sort of Green Day spree where I do basically everything I did when I was first getting into Green Day, watch old music videos and interviews and live shows, reminds me of the feelings I had first watching them. I watched the goat Island show, the bizarre festival, Woodstock, much music show from 2000 and I'm about to watch Bullet in a Bible.

  2. Three years ago I made a collage of my 1st GD gig with matchstick men, newspaper reports of the gig, and the list of songs that I heard, which surrounded my ticket. This was my "attempt" at drawing GD.

  3. Okay, A) I read that as "Barbeque costumes" and was very confused for a moment and B) I believe it's been about 5 years since I've drawn Billie. #fakefan His dead, half offscreen arm does not count. I'll see what I can do. 2020 may be the year to bring back Billie Joe Sharkstrong.

  5. To me it’s not about who the individual fans are that get brought up or how well they do, it’s the way the act itself eliminates the barrier between band and audience and makes it feel more like a party than a performance. Compared to other bands I’ve seen, it’s why the fans feel like important elements of a Green Day show like we’re all working together to make an experience happen instead of just watching them work. I wouldn’t want to see it go away completely for this reason. Creating that connection is one of those things that makes them special regardless of who gets to go on stage. Just seeing it happen makes you feel more connected.

  6. @Montclare I'm mad at Kevin. I woke up to a notification that he was live on Instagram. I was asleep, sir! How rude 😤

  9. I agree, I find it really fun and entertaining. And sometimes it can lead to awesome moments like this, which was a highlight last time I saw them:

  10. 13 Bands Who’ve Made Use Of Unusual Instruments Green Day – Vibraslap Green Day started straying beyond their original three-chord pop-punk remit on 1997’s Nimrod and even more so on the 2000 follow-up. The hard acoustic-flavoured Warning featured a full complement of horns, with Billie Joe Armstrong also providing mandolin and piano. Even better they also incorporated something called a vibraslap, credited in the liner notes to guest musician James Creepies. Not only does this have the greatest name of any instrument ever, it’s a modern-day version of using a donkey’s jawbone as a musical instrument. True story. https://www.kerrang.com/features/13-bands-whove-made-use-of-unusual-instruments/?fbclid=IwAR3XXDvkLnufEbHD_BvAoyjp8ehPl2cHVNAKySj7aVrM0pKWCmSNrG-IaY4

  17. There's no way i'd raise my hand unless i was confident as fuck in playing the song lmao. Honestly i'd rather sing, i feel like it'd be less pressure.

  18. It all depends on who is brought up on stage as some fans don't perform well, and I think a few people claim to be able to play guitar just so they can get up on stage to hug Billie. But I think the majority of fans do perform well when brought up on stage considering that most wouldn't have performed in front of large audiences. And although I wasn't at that London gig when they brought Rachel up on stage, it's still really emotional to watch. Hopefully next year the fans will be back on stage at GD gigs.

  19. I have to disagree with you guys, it's one of my favorite moments of the show. It's only a little bit you still see green day play most of the show! And it makes someones day

  23. As a musician on here I've said multiple times that a band can only effectively learn about 40 songs at a time at full efficiency. So you're right the setlist should rotate but keep in mind the band plays almost 32 songs a night so there's a limit to what they can rotate.

  24. Guess this was inevitable. Even if NZ is free of the virus by then the borders might still be closed, especially to Americans. Hope the silver lining will be a solo tour.
